You know its interesting you say that! We had a conversation where I pretty much asked “so why not just date within your church?” He said he tried, and it was dreadful because he found them to be boring. He said he always found women who were external to be more compatible with him in terms of personality but even something as simple as just going out on dates. External women were generally more exciting, willing to take risks, go places and see things and have more enjoyable lives compared to t…

Absolutely he knew, I’d never keep that to myself especially since I learned he was devoutly religious throughout our friendship.

This whole thing is strange! He said that he didn’t text or call because he felt like such a jackass and thought I’d never want to hear from him again, he never gave me the impression that sex was even on the table before last week, and he’s made it more than clear that I check off all of his boxes in terms of a long term partner so whats the hold up! The whole thing is just irritating me right now.

I told him I dont have any aversion to converting, I dont really associate with any religion in particular so its not a huge deal to me and it seemed as though that answer appeased him

Well that plan is going to be a bust :’)

Age ranges anywhere from 23-35 at the moment, most are tradesmen coincidentally. I’ve been meeting them at random, at the gym, out dancing with friends, on walks around the neighborhood etc. My response is always the same: “You never really know who someone is until you give them a chance” or sometimes “give yourself more credit” if I’ve known them a bit

The confusing part is why keep asking for/paying for more dates then! I’ve already laid out that sex is not on the table but they still want to take me out but have already expressed that previous statement so it makes me unsure.

Thank you! I appreciate the response!

I can absolutely agree with him being vague and dismissive but I do doubt that I was just a plate. His whole family and friend circle knew and loved me and they generally feel the same about him being emotionally confusing or hurtful at times I’ve recently learned

Is it manipulative if its not intentional though? Like I dont have the skill to cry on demand, it’s a natural reaction for me which I absolutely HATE sometimes. Its one of those things that happens if I’m happy or angry or sad or frustrated, I can 100% say it’s not to get a specific reaction from him. Does that even still make it manipulative?

It sounds so ridiculous but this was my first relationship ever, it’s been difficult getting used to the idea of letting him go especially when he’s made it seem as though theres something I can do to save it, I know its the wrong choice deep down though.

Well the part that confuses me is that he kept saying every argument “x amount of years and you still havent changed” to me. When I asked him what he wanted to see changed and how he wanted to go about it he just responded with “you’ll figure it out” and upon asking for some guidance as to what he wanted he would say “if you dont know how then you haven’t changed at all.” I’m not sure what I was supposed to change?

I tried to do this but the man I was with only TALKED about the things he was going to accomplish but never actually took steps to make it happen. Not to mention his self esteem was so low due to my own successes over our 4 year relationship that he became a chronic liar and was borderline unfaithful. If you’re gonna do this, pick a man who has TRUE drive, not just dreams.

Thank you! It's been very tough the past few days, had a good talk with his father who himself is heartbroken over his son's behavior even beyond our relationship(none of his siblings are like him). He's still told me I'm welcome to every holiday or event they have haha! He's a very good man. Pretty much told me that I can't and shouldn't feel responsible to fix him, he can't fix him either. At nearly 27 years old he has to figure out how to fix himself.

When I say "consulting" I meant more talking to me about what exactly wasn't feeling quite right in his heart. I feel like adults should be able to talk about their doubts together and find solutions together. He shouldn't bottle it up and deal with it alone in my eyes. I'm there to help if you know what I mean?

Already ahead of you! He's been deleted from my phone as if he didn't exist. I have to admit it was extremely difficult to do, but knew it was necessary.

Thank you! I will definitely check it out. I've heard a bit about narcissists, and he even let it slip himself once that he thought he might be a sociopath. Appreciate the help <3

I just bring it up! "Lately so and so has been making me feel this way" or something along the lines of that. Usually he realizes that there is a problem and aknowledges it and THEN tries to flip the script onto me. So it seems like everything is about to be solved and then it just goes to shit.

But thats the thing! Thats a common thing for us! He jabs at me and i jab right back. Hes always making jokes about HIS OWN masculinity too! And whenever i do take a jab, its never anything crazy disrespectful, i would never do that to him.

I never withhold sex from him EVER. But honestly, if this keeps happening i dont see myself WANTING to have sex with him.

Its possible yes, but that specific day i would say no, hes not usually quick to do things like that at all anymore. It was 1 mistake and boom, ignore. Of course i admit my mistake and i will gladly work to fix it, but if im stuck talking to a brick wall every time theres an argument its difficult to move forward.

So this is what happened, i gave him a compliment, he told me to shut up jokingly, then i told him to shut up also jokingly. Later that night i made a VERY TAME joke about his masculinity (a common occurence between us and he does it himself WAY more than i do) and he decided that this merited me being ignored for 2 days. The problem he had with me was that recently ive been getting too generally aggressive and after he said it, i thought about it and he was right. The problem i had with him is …

But why! It works against him and instead of solving problems in a day and moving on they just drag out for a week. Whats the point!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
