"Assuming you could stack pennies infinitely high, how many pennies would you need to stack to crush the first penny under the weight of the other pennies on Earth?" Gotcha.

Make trying your goal. You can't fail at trying, unless you don't try. Wow, that's smart. I think I found a new motto.

Thank you. This might be the most comforting reply on this thread. When I finally do build up the courage to approach women, I will undoubtedly fail many times. The sooner I do that, the faster I get used to being rejected. I don't want to waste my life thinking "What if?" The world will not run out of women. Unless it will.

It's not a life philosophy I condone, but the fear of rejection is a real problem for me. So far you've all given great encouragement and reasons for fear being a completely unneeded human emotion. The western civilization no longer faces such life-threatening hazards as our ancestors, so we've given ourselves the authorization to fear trivial things. The time span I will plod on this Earth is just a tiny fraction of the age of mankind. When I die, nobody else will remember my memories. Then why…

I've been working on exiting my comfort zone by doing something every day that causes just that, even if only slightly. Afterwards it feels great. But I still have a long way to go.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
