Ice fishing as fun goal? I do that every winter because bass's taste is the best during winter and the price of fresh water fish during winter in my country is ridiculous. In case you have yet to try it, I can say, make it a trip, take camping equipment during the very heart of winter and spend few days fishing and sleeping in the woods as far away from main roads as possible so that you can enjoy the piece and quiet of winter woods.

Your post had that smell of ripping on highly used chord progressions. I can understand them getting to a point of boredom but in defense of say 1 4 5 chord progression(12 bar blues) and similar highly used progressions, people come up with some great stuff on top of those progressions even though the harmony itself isn't all that interesting. Who wouldn't enjoy listening to a good jam based on 12 bar blues even thought the progression itself isn't all that harmonically interesting or better yet…

All music is real music no matter how you feel about it. If you listen to every piece of crap pop tune close enough you'll always find something interesting there even if you've heard it 10 times before in similar factory produced songs. There are people saying their music is real music about every genre of popular music ever made and even on the classical side. All music is real music and in a proper environment it's fun to jam along to with your instrument if you play one.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with standard chord progressions, on the contrary you can find interesting ways how they are implemented in the song structure and how the melody is constructed on top of it.

Luckily enough i've always listened music for the music, rarely for the lyrics, if song has shit lyrics it can be forgiven if the instrumental side of it is good. Then again there is music that you will gladly listen to for both the musical side and the lyrical content.

Guys, don't focus on learning songs so much, that only teaches you technique, instead focus on learning to recognize chord progressions, intervals in general and learn your scales and chord tones. That way you'll be jamming along your favorite tunes if you stick to practicing, that is the best state one can achieve with an instrument, reacting to music you hear around you. The ability to improvise over any given chord progression fluently is the ultimate goal.

Illusion of control is a bad thing, once that illusion comes down you're going to be fucked. The need to control is even worse and will lead to mental health issues sooner or later. Been there, done that.

Well, basically 18 year old still is a child, at least to me. Of course 18 year old will disagree but thinking back to when I was 18 and was able to buy beer on my own and get a drivers license I, like everyone else at that age thought I was an adult, which of course as older people know is not the case in anyway.

I sure hope there's no one thin skinned enough to be hurt by something like this.

I'm an average height dude, which might explain why I don't really understand why people make such a big deal out of their height, you can't really change it so why give a good god damn fuck about it.

When shit that is out of your control happens better to laugh it off, getting angry over every little thing would result in having to be angry all the time.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
