| 1 | Why do I get creep-ed out by this?I'd just respond in Chinese. I know when I say ni hao to a Chinese American guy or girl, it's because I intend to practice speaking a little putonghua. I don't have many opportunities to do so after all. Just because they're white doesn't automatically mean they don't know Chinese. Whether they actually know Chinese or not, if what they follow up with doesn't interest you, move on. I think seddit helped drive home some of what is only implied in the linked page, really driving home that be the best self you can be, which seems like the best way to deal with the insecurities jealousy stems from.
