Feminists aren't scum. At least, the feminist movement isn't meant to be what you see portrayed sometimes as "feminism" nowadays. Feminism has always been about equality, and the second it isn't about equality, it isn't feminism. Calling a dog a cat doesn't make it a cat.
It's really prevalent in the educational system. In AP English Language and Composition, there's an entire chapter dedicated to gender. Within it, there's only two passages about men... And they're presented as "whiny" or "outdated". Whereas women having the freedom to wear what they want makes them "marked", and other such dilemmas.
