He could even be using a work phone he uses for a manual skilled job. My best friend owns a scrap metal yard here in the UK - family business been going over a century. He owns a Porsche and lives in a 4 bedroom detached house in a nice area. He drives to work in a dirty white van and has an iPhone 5s to make his work calls.

I’m a chef and it’s been really hot lately, I’m in full chef whites with a t shirt underneath, a hat on and an apron. My general assistants are all women and CONSTANTLY complain it’s too warm despite the fact they’re not behind the pass with a grill at head height and a 4 burner stove next to it. Everyone is dressing like that because everyone dresses like that. If wearing a nice pair of jeans and a smart polo was acceptable everyone would dress like that too. I’d bet something like <5% of people actually want to dress in suits to begin with but have to. Hopefully in the future it’ll become more and more relaxed; I tend to think it’s stupid really.
