I'll only be friends with them in a group setting or an online space. No 1:1s. I keep the scope of conversation pretty narrow. And maybe I should, but I don't really care if there's an underlying attraction to me. That's their problem.

What is a red flag when romance media so often makes men with explosive tempers and controlling, menacing behavior out to be worthwhile challenges? My mom could have written this. It was the same age gap. He was, "the love of my life" no matter what he did. And he was so much more interesting than the ambivalent teenage boys I dated before. While all my friends were being ghosted and left for other girls, I was worth marrying. When that felt like a crowning achievement, when he had done this bef…

Well put - thank you!!! And the way I see it, there's no rush. I'm not out here trying to date someone with a boring life who has all the time in the world to talk to me. I'm not interested in filling someone's empty hours. I was going to see friends tonight but they canceled. So I took myself out 🤗💃

Bless you <3 it's so nice to feel more strongly about myself than I do about a stranger 🤗🤗🤗 I couldn't have loved myself this much without you guys!

It's pretty bleak right now especially. With everything that COULD happen, I'm not sure how much capacity I have for bad dates. The disappointments hit a little harder. I can't say I'll never be open to romance again (at least undertaking the process of finding it, rarity and all), but I've found that most guys who are still online are looking for a distraction. No one has mirrored my energy or clarity of purpose. My sense is they really don't want to do any work. They want you to carry the conv…

You know what always makes me sad? This new definition of integrity men seem to have where they completely abandon tact in favor of "brutal honesty" just so you know DuMb SILLY WOMAN that he's NOT LIKE THESE OTHER GUYS and tells women how it is and won't be controlled b/c he is an A+ independent thinker (the small dick energy)!

I see where you're coming from, I think I'm just very discouraged by my daily experience of how men think they can treat women and women unfortunately being up for a lot of it. I don't understand how this is a controversial subreddit (in the public eye) instead of a general understanding at this point. It matters to me because many of the posts on here clearly indicate the state of things and even if we do rise in subscribers...remember when gender critical was the most popular feminist subreddi…

It's interesting how a lot of women agree with FDS principles as long as we don't call them FDS principles. Every time I describe my approach to dating without citing where I learned it from, I'm praised for it. Other women want to try it, too. I swear, the idea of "all...female...space where...women talk about issues that...specifically effect them" is the only deterrent people in general seem to really have with this sub. As long as they know there isn't a group of us calling bullshit (sound f…

I mean, if the value of this sub goes completely over his head it was only a matter of time before he started to display toxic male behavior he obviously doesn't question or he would understand (or at the very least be curious about) why women need a way to protect themselves from it. I don't care if you're 19. It's kind of impossible to be sheltered from the effects patriarchy has on girls and women, especially in their romantic relationships. It's happening right in front of you, all the time.…

I think bisexuality can be pretty complicated in a way that's unique to it. I'm sure for some bisexuals it's an even and consistent ratio of attraction to men and women, but for me (and quite a few of my bi friends) it DOES fluctuate. It's not as simple as "I like both." It can also change over time. When I was 19 I thought I was straight, despite A LOT of evidence to the contrary, and I think for "casual" encounters I still notice myself gravitating towards men. But that's largely because I rea…

What do you ladies think creates this frankly bizarre association between ones self worth and frequency of sexual encounters? Sex is great but I feel like it's on such a pedestal that there are entire relationships based on "how good the sex is" and then there's this obsession with "high libido" and there's something really weird about it. Idk it just seems like a really highly overvalued form of intimacy

Where might I find the thread that more or less explains the way FDS feels about polyamory (not rotational dating, but like, this couple is straight up married and the man insists he should have all his "needs" met as if they're non-negotiable when it's literally just about him, his penis, and lack of personal development, not food, water, oxygen, etc).

Nope, this is 100% true. I very recently almost caved for a situationship with someone just because I found them attractive and I'm really glad I didn't. Hard sell in the beginning (said all the right things), and then dwindling effort. He clearly knows what he looks like. 6'6? Built? And he has an accent? Once he made sure I was sold on his fortunate genetics and the mere 500 characters he wrote with what he thought I wanted to hear (and he was right), he started trying me with strategic abando…

That so many women spend so much of their precious time on Earth doing mental gymnastics to rationalize their boyfriend's absolutley deplorable behavior in our toxic male oriented culture breaks my heart. It shouldn't be so brutalizing to want companionship. It's what we're raised to want. I'm really tired of hearing what WoMen Do ToO like, I'm sorry, one of the leading causes of death for us is dating men who turn out to be violent. Stop pretending it's comparable. We should be outraged by this…

I would also argue he's incapable of liking any woman like that, tbh. He doesn't like women.

Exactly. Their problem is having their mediocrity and mistreatment of women unapologetically called out and rejected. We're supposed to let them get away with it. They've been conditioned to believe they should get away with it. And I don't think most men are rubbing their hands together when they're horrible to women. It's just been so normalized for them to be coddled by us and act like children the best they can come up with is to make fun of us for calling each other queens and "golddiggers.…

Okay. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts on how to remain strong and not abandon FDS principles because someone is unusually attractive (or thoughts on when there can be some flexibility!). I matched with a really sweet man who may not be my type long term (I may not be his type long term) but I think we might really enjoy one another's company (that's the G rated version, we all know what I'm actually saying) and IT'S BEEN A REALLY LONG TIME. It's clear we have chemistry in an albeit super…

The worst is when they tell you to "cum for them" like that's how it works. It's so stressful. Like, I don't even really need to be here. You're not having sex with me. I'm just the vagina.

That's a very fair point! I think it depends (as many things do). I would prefer a pre-date interview if we matched online and I'm worried about wasting my time. I think this is in the spirit of, "they have to earn my trust. They don't just get to see my closest friends, my family, or moments I'm proud of, as well as things that represent my values, before we go on even one date. I'm not going to make it that easy for them." If someone has a more predatory personality I imagine pictures that rep…

I'm getting the hang of this! Someone on OLD asked for my IG and though I will likely unmatch (I mentioned my favorite place to go where this person and I both live and he said something about 'going there every weekend looking for a girlfriend'), FOR THE FIRST TIME, I said I don't give out my social media without knowing someone better. I was always made things as easy possible for everyone but me and it's nice to be learning <3

That's so hurtful. I'm glad you won't be waisting anymore time on him. This kind of anger over something as NORMAL as wanting to get to know someone only for them to act like he was just there for sexual services and you MUST have known that and HOW DARE YOU...like, that's dehumanizing. No, you wanted to go on a date, remember when that was a thing? WTF? He's very ugly inside.

It's pretty devastating, actually. Because this is all in the spirit of "restorative justice" when in reality, women are (unsurprisingly and yet again) just not allowed to talk to each other about our shared anatomy or experiences, or the very real erasure the TRA narrative is imposing on them. I am genuinely scared for us.

Why do so many adult men sleep with stuffed animals well into their late twenties? They're pretty unapologetic about it, too. This is actually a red flag for me now because I see it so often. It has less to do with what I expect from them as "men" than, "how can you, an adult, not have matured beyond this or not see you might have some work to do here?" I have a lot of the same mental health issues as them, as do my female friends, and I cannot, for the life of me, understand the prevalence of d…

That's actually a bit scary. It sounds like he was just playing a part and knew how to play it VERY well. The thing is, this side of him would have come out regardless of how your weight fluctuated - he's not a great guy. I hope there isn't ever a next girl for him because yeesh

These days I do. But makeup is also a hobby of mine - I've invested a lot of time and research into products (only non-endocrine disrupting, must be organic) and application techniques. I'm also goth. So part of what I like about makeup is that it's a silly way for me to participate in a subculture I'm part of when I can't go to clubs or events (because that would be a public health hazard). I do not think I wear makeup for me. But I can't intellectualize every decision I make, it doesn't take m…

Thank you! The kind words are definitely welcome (this work is challenging). I think what's key here is that I may not be well recieved and that doesn't mean I'm in the wrong. It means I wasn't supposed to protect my time or my energy and that's a red flag whether I want to see it or not. He's one of the few friends I have left that does this. I phased the others out. There was a person I've really liked getting to know under all of the avoidance! Hope you're well. Thank you again :)

I have a male friend who is a very lovely but long time Pick Me. His boyfriends are always the same - emotionally aloof, non-committal, mean, and unfaithful. He seems unable to stop complaining about them. And my issue with that is twofold: 1) though a lovely, kind, smart, generous person, he rambles on and on for hours about what makes this person horrible and then refuses to leave them (they usually dump him). 2) it never occurs to him that he might be part of the problem. He alternates betwee…

I know this is a silly question, but how did we get here? I love how this is the same guy who gets angry if you don't orgasm. That's my favorite. If he doesn't orgasm it's your fault. If you don't orgasm it's your fault. And it's so odd to me this kind of man is the norm. You would think he would be the guy no one wanted to be so you wouldn't be meeting him so often.

Wow, good for you, buddy! You're such a great person! Just blocked and deleted someone exactly like this. I also initially thought, "he's so nice, he's so respectful" and I think what actually happens is you get so worn down by the abundance of NVM that a non offer like this is appealing. His tone is so self congratulatory and virtue signally, I can't. At the end of the day it's still, "I get to pretend you're my girlfriend when I feel like it, I will expect all the benefits of a relationship wi…

Also, she can't be high value if she left her LV husband and had some learning to do? Eh...I also feel like things happen or we wouldn't need a sub to bring women up to speed?

Eh. Honestly, I'm bi, went to a predominantly sapphic university (all women), and can assure you, based on my experiences and those of my predominantly lesbian friend group, that low value women are OUT HERE. Cheaters, liars, abusers, narcissists, boy, have I seen it (and fell in love with it)🤷‍♀️ I'm mostly interested in women but 🤙

Just wanted to express gratitude for how much you've all helped me learn to value myself. I almost feel like "dating strategy" is just one offering of this sub - I've applied the thinking here to all of my relationships, most importantly to the one I have with myself. My therapist and I have been talking about "self abandonment" and how willing I am to extend myself for years, but the handbook helped me understand exactly what that looks like. I can't think of a better time to learn how to be ki…
