Creepiest situation I was in during hs was hanging with the slightly "cooler" kids that I didn't normally hang with at a graduation party. The night ended with, literally, everyone in the room, except for me (had very limited texts) and one other person, texting each other. No conversation. Over 20 people. Truth be told I don't remember exactly what I did. I think I just made an excuse to split early. Awkward.

I had a chat with a long time psychoanalyst/psychiatrist who I was interviewing and this exact idea came up. It's most classically seen when people go back and visit their family--they morph into old roles and methods of interacting, especially with their mothers. Your parents remember you and treat you as their child, not always as a fully formed adult. I think this same phenomenon is what you're referencing with other people. So clearly your question is how to deal with that? I don't want to w…

Another military brat here. I know I should just +1, but it's nice to share. I think we have to be able to separate friends in this way. My problem when I was younger was trying to hold on to certain people who I kept in the "friends" category and caring about making everyone I interacted with fit into the "acquaintances" group. It's only relatively recently that I realized how important it is to understand Fred_Flintstone's point about dropping negative friendships.

I think it might have been this book, or by this author: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Just_Don%27t_Understand However, I wouldn't purchase it. It's worth a quick read. Heck, you'll pick up a lot of the info and some of my thoughts about the book just from the wiki article.

Linguistics is the best bet. I read a book about linguistics that covered a lot of this (and in more detail.) Other important things are the ideas that words carry different definitional connotations to the average man+woman and that you have to figure out how to convey your meaning most clearly to the other person as opposed to wording things how they would be most clear to you.

Cuban motion, proper ballroom salsa/chacha hip technique, takes years to develop. Even "Street salsa" movement takes a while.

It sounds more difficult than if the girls literally wore chastity belts.

The dress one might work, but the music one will sound whiny. I totally agree that the music in most clubs is unnecessarily loud--in fact, I don't usually "sarge," verbally at least--in loud dance clubs for that very reason.

It sounds to me like you are using a lot of canned material. While that helps at first, I think it's the reason you're running into walls in your interactions; instead of naturally flowing because everything you say is improvised and comes genuinely from you, you're saying things that other guys made up mostly to entertain women. As for developing conversation skills, that takes time. Questions really do work great, spend some time thinking of really interesting questions that people have asked …

This reminds me of a girl I briefly dated before I moved. She said she didn't give her number to random guys so I just replied "well, I really have enjoyed meeting you, what's the best way to get in contact?" -> Facebook (which almost never works well for me) -> invited to her house for wine 8)

examples: old ones suck? stuck in a place in life you don't want? move to a new city? change jobs? find a new interest that you don't share with any of your friends? Commentary: There are a lot of people who stick with their same friends their entire lives. They also date people relatively close to their social circle. There's more to life than the people you went to elementary school with. Personal Anecdote: I've changed friend groups once about every year or two. It doesn't mean you can't talk…

I have no clue how /fit you are. I ran into a similar/interesting issue. I'm 6'2". Back when I was 250lbs, I was fat, so the baby face was more like fatty-face. At the weight I'm at now/was before (200ish), I have a "baby face." My lowest weight was like 190. At that weight, my face was getting thin--I had thinned out of the baby face. So if you're slightly overweight, try losing some fat. It should get you out of the baby face range, if you're like me. Don't let your face limit you. It's not a …

I like the idea of finding a way that appeals to you for tracking your progress. Lately I've been thinking about making daily performance and usage tracking tools because I want to use statistical methods to improve my expenditures and to make sure that I accomplish my goals (this summer has been very lazy and goal-disoriented lol). Similarly, if you want to grade yourself via rubric daily or weekly or what-have-you, go for it! I don't see it being super limiting, so long as you recognize that t…

This is why we work on inner game/lifestyle as much as we do the other stuff. Keeping a girlfriend is about staying interesting, making sure you are confident enough that you can put your foot down if she tries to walk on you, subtly/implicitly hinting that you had other options, but you chose her (do not do that explicitly IMO). Basically, stay cool and she should stay with you. Let her know if something isn't working. I'm gonna assume you have all the above covered--congrats on your relationsh…

They complain that they would need to change who they are in order to be successful. This is the first thing I changed when I began my path/learning about seduction and self-improvement. It's an important, metaphysical step. I think it's the only step that really can't be helped by anyone else--you have to come to the realization that your desires are not matching up with your reality for a reason, which you can fix.

Ah I hate the ASD "no." I shut down in bed when I hear no unless it's explicitly obvious that the no doesn't mean no.

That's an interesting final point. Several girls I've been with have said things that indicate they consciously recognize their "unconscious" needs/wants/feelings/decisions. It's really strange.

Sounds like a few of my interactions with women lately. I had a big, important, very DHV event happen in my life, which most people know about me, and it keeps my value up in the boyfriend-zone when combined with the rest of my identity. That's why I usually obscure a lot of the "facts" about myself until later now. Helps with the intrigue thing and when I decide it's time for people to find out, it works in my favor instead of against it.

Next time you have someone try to AMOG you by pulling you out of a set, say LOUDLY to the set "my friend is jealous of you, he's trying to pull me away to keep for himself!" try and make it look like you're not physically being dominated.

It sounds like either you're scarfing down your food, or the people you're eating with are also scarfing it down, since you said either way you only get through half AND you're not "getting enough breaks to talk" Try something new. Eat. Talk. Eat. Talk. Enjoy your food and your conversation. Signal the end of your statements with a bite to eat.

So I'm not sure how to approach this subject delicately, so I'll just be blunt. The photography thing is a bullshit pickup tactic. I know it works, I know girls like it, I've seen it work, etc. But I don't like it. I think the reason is exactly what you said: it's like a cheat code. It's a stealthy, +5 attack from the rear sort of approach. I'm glad it works for you, I'm overjoyed that you're so willing to give back to the community, and it sounds like you're on your way to being a legitimate cl…

"I don't wear glitter or perfume--he'll never find out." I like ridiculous answers. I was told a story about a stripper who said this to one of my friends and I decided to make it my new line for the boyfriend test. Haven't had a chance to test it yet :(

Yeah I totally agree with you. That rings true for all the "naturals" I know... and the converse for guys (like myself) who were not so natural (i.e. natural friend had two sisters, I have two brothers). I've been thinking about an immersion-based approach to learning that female mindset. For example, I discovered a few years ago that I really enjoy dance. That turned into a great way to be around lots of women and to learn about their mindset in a low-pressure format. No seduction needs to go o…

I upvoted this post, but I also thought of something; I think we give naturals a lot of credit for being "natural." Most of the "naturals" I know did actually work on game, they just did it in a more intuitive-emotional way, whereas most people into game are very analytical-intellectual.

Read over on the XX thread... Pickup, like anything, is stereotyped by its extremes. I agree with the bay area article though; pickup these days is about building confidence, learning skills that you missed out on while hitting the books, and meeting a nice girl--not necessarily going out and sleeping with every girl you see.

I think this post is good because it indirectly highlighted the stages most people seem to go through when embarking on this pickup/self-improvement journey: unconfident and unsuccessful -> arrogant (making up for unconfidence) and successful -> confident and successful

Yep, my answer would probably be something like "Haven't measured... Oh, we're comparing? How big is yours?!" or something. I like to be ridiculous.

+1 to turn-off. I feel anti-rape conditioned to where it's a huge turnoff, even though the "no" thing is just part of their foreplay (obnoxious).

Not to focus on lines, but "what are you doing later?" is universal bar code for "do you want to have sex with me/us tonight?" It must be dropped with the frame of confidence and some asexuality for logistics of switching locations in order to not be met with a reaction like the one seen in this set (although if, later on, you all had worked solid game, you might have had a different response.) I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but try not to get down--everyone gets blown out sometime! Maybe y…

There have been a couple times that I've quickly facebooked girls I knew I was going to be around. I always felt worse for it, as it just shortens conversion. I've caught myself a few times about to start a conversation assuming knowledge that was never actually told to me by the individual. While, in some cases, it's possible to say that a mutual friend we met through had provided me with info, this isn't always going to be an available excuse.

I know some people swear by them, but I'm gonna be honest with you--I hate dating sites. They're bs. Meet people IRL. You know? I've found, as personal anecdote, that I have plenty of success in person, but regardless of what I tried on OKC, I didn't manage much success. (not that I really put that much effort into OKC... there are a lot of negative discouragement influences on those sites for guys)

This is not quite on-topic, but it's something I've been thinking about a lot every time I read seddit and what have you. Maybe it's just me, but I cringe when I see people label themselves "AFC" or "rAFC" or "PUA" as if there's some contiuum on this quest to become more social and comfortable in your own skin. People are not finitely distributed into an "alpha" or "beta" group; thinking in this way impedes progress, in my opinion. I do understand that, in some ways, these labels may ease the fl…

I've noticed that I much prefer to roll with a few people (usually flirty platonic girl friends) as well. Lately I've been working on "opening" male members of sets--but really, this just means trying to make friends with everyone without just going out trying to "meet girls" to get laid. Slight change of social paradigm, right?

This is also true of smaller cities, in my experience. When people feel like they know everyone they need to (small communities like the Asian community, single-university towns, etc.), they don't go out to meet others, they go out to have fun with people they already know. This is obviously a generalization and not true for everyone in these circumstances. Obviously, given we go out to meet people.

Ah, I only drew that conclusion from the statement about no longer wanting to be the fat funny computer nerd, which sometimes comes with rejection of your previous persona. I think most of us understand that feeling--again, it's why we're not all naturals. I'm kinda reminded of a former friend of mine, only to some extent, by your posts. He tried to get with girls all the time, he was in good shape and peacocked some, he was able to be confident and funny with girls, but somehow they still sense…

This may sound zen and/or douchey, but I think it sounds like you are at the point where you have the mechanics of game (at least, up to Fclosing) down, but you don't actually have your "inner game" worked out as well. Basically, your last paragraph told me that you don't know who you are, because you're trying to change who you are in order to get into womens' pants. They say that women can smell insincerity, a close relative of not being confident. You initiated a huge lifestyle change and hav…

Seriously. So many girls literally have nothing interesting to say. Conversing with them is like talking to a child. Some guys like that because their game is calibrated to amuse and seduce these girls, but it just turns me off.
