It’s a chest code once you work out anytime you venture outside your comfort zone you build confidence. I see it like building XP on a video game! Obvs it’s harder then that - facing fear in the face is very tricky (especially at the start)

It’s what tripped me up for ages. I did loads of research on facing fears ect hoping that it wouldn’t be scary. No, it will be scary. Accept that and don’t try and influence the fear. Focus on what you’re working towards not making decisions from a place of fear!

One of the secrets to life is finding out the moment you feel nervous to do something, you will always feel regret hiding in avoidance rather than doing no matter how it goes It could be the most terrible interaction of your life but you WILL feel better about yourself than avoiding. I promise.

It’s not a leadership role in particular. It’s stepping outside your comfort zone which being a leader happens to be for you. The only real way to build confidence is to step outside your comfort zone, whatever that is, consistently.

Sometimes? Everytime. They are normal human beings with worries and issues of their own. They happen to look good, it is completely out of their control and they don’t believe it themselves what you build them up to be in your head. They are in no way above you - so just be you!

You can’t grow without action either. Once you take action, you can’t lose, no matter the result, as long as you don’t let it stop you!

And just be yourself. I cringe so much when people plan out entire conversations. At most plan out your approach and from then on just stay present and respond the way the real you would You can only be yourself on this planet. No one else if like you. You are completely unique. Embrace this

Think of yourself as complete. Never adjust to no one. Never go in looking for a perfect convo. It doesn’t exist. All you can be in this world is yourself. There’s no one like you on this planet, your background, environment, experiences, gene pool whatever make utterly unique. You can’t control how someone else is going to react to you. Imagine you have a speech, to group A and group B. Say group A loves it and group B hates it, even tho it’s the exact same speech you’ve delivered. You can’t co…

And it’s the same with anything in life. People always worry about leaving their comfort zone in case it goes wrong. But you can’t lose, with the right mindset. Going against what your brain is telling you, trying desperately to keep you ‘safe’ and ‘in your comfort zone’, no matter if it goes horribly bad, will be beneficial. Nothing is an L, only a lesson. You’ll gain confidence faster than you’d ever believe.

Brilliant. In lockdown I’ve learned the only way to grow on anything is to challenge yourself and face your fears. I can only imagine how mastering public speaking would help, no just in those situations but in all aspects of life.

How have you found it? I struggle public speaking and hate it over zoom. I’m slowly changing my mindset to face my challenges tho, how does the toastmasters process work especially online?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
