I agree they are not the same, but superior, according to what criteria? That really depends on the perspective. I am looking not just for opinions but for solid proofs. Different doesn't mean that anyone is superior, but of course you can have your personal preference

I actually live in a place that attracts such people. A city that was once divided. Anyway sending you 1000 karma points

OMG you are actually so right. How could I not see through that? She actually comes from a post-communist society and is like a left wing academic person, and now it makes all so much sense, criticizing and putting me down for anything that is possible to perceive as "privilege" or hierarchical, or business and money-oriented. And she also said strange things about solidarity (that it means self-sacrificing a part of you so that others have it better) and she basically always tried to convince m…

You are so right with that. Thanks for that comment. They are people who are not well mentally and have their trauma, but so do I. The only difference is that I am always actively working on it and trying to see where my beliefs and that of others come from. They did have bad experiences with men and now probably explain everything through their position as women in society. I don't really know what is going on with them, but it is also not my job, I need to distance myself like you say. I just …

You're not wrong. But they very explicitly position themselves as feminists and see the flat share as a queer feminist thing. And they justify their views and actions through that lens. I am not capable of understanding their behaviour and beliefs in the end, they are probably just unwell. But mixing everything together with feminism and patriarchy. I live with them, I hear the discussions or take part in them.

You are completely right, they are crazy. But the thing is, I like people who are out of the box and different. But I guess it went wrong, I confused being out of the box with being insane and mentally unwell. Oh god. I just want to be around healthy people now. But at least nr. 1 is not dumb... I always thought of her as smart... but maybe she is not...

yes and she got me there, because I felt kinda ashamed about my background. But she doesn't even get it, things are not so black and white. My parents come from a simple background and worked their way up. I think it was just her insecurity and power play. She felt better about herself doing that, putting me down. That she has it so much harder than me. Don't know. People are strange.

I was commenting on the other person's comment. I agree with your position. About equality, I probably messed up the terminology, what I meant is that I realized women work differently than I thought. But I am right now impacted by these two individuals, so I need to be careful to generalize.

yes, it was not a good idea. I completely underestimated it. I had lived alone for some years and during corona lockdowns I felt alone. I wanted a change, but immediately felt totally controlled and confined by that bitch.

ok I agree, I exaggerated that part, but it was to get my point across. I am not actually thinking that black and white. Should have been more careful.

yeah he doesn't want any discussion of his beliefs. But he proceeded to "out" me under every post. I don't want my gayness or bi-ness to distort the discussion here. I want to be seen as a man, first and foremost. That is my decision.

Thank you very much. It is abuse, I am seeing it more clearly now. When I talked about moving out, flat mate 1 actually pressured me by saying, "but then we'll all be thrown out here!". But I also want to be fair and see my role in this mess. I come from an emotionally abusive family (mother abused my dad and us children) and it turned out that flat mate 1 also comes from an abusive household (the dad in her case). Yes, actually a pretty rough working class dad. But that is no excuse for continu…

I cannot say much about the US situation, as I am European, but my impression is that you value individualism a lot over there. In many areas, I am on board with feminism, for example equal pay, that should just be normal. But it looks like society is much more split over there too, that people are more aggressive with their beliefs. In my country I do not see that feminism is anti-family, they actually want better conditions to be able to afford kids and a house. Edit: And I am also wondering a…

to be honest, they get along well. they even visited each other in their hometowns. maybe they are just better off keeping it female only

I agree that I am traumatized. And my post is trying to make sense of the situation. But every belief and ideology comes from somewhere and should be questioned. That's what I am in the process of. But about the headscarf question, I have to say that in my country it is by law forbidden to cover your face in public spaces. This law wasn't made for Muslims specifically, it is an old law. It is also about the European value of showing yourself, not concealing yourself when talking to other people.…

it's not my first action. We actually had a flat share meeting already. And they basically said they don't feel I want community and I should find my own flat. Well, the second said that, although she is just the subletter. First one said it seems we cannot communicate. Well, I tried, I tried. And it was shut down. Also, I checked myself into a mental hospital for two months as part of my bigger crisis (my ex leaving me too and losing my job). And after the hospital we tried again. I also went t…

Yes and I think that is ultimately my question here. I wonder if there are more differences between men and women than we were led to believe. Or even allowed to talk about in the current climate. Because I saw how they get a free pass to criticize men, because "we live in a patriarchy" while comments about women are shut down and I should not be allowed to comment on them and their bodies. And I guess in that sense my post was a bit of rage bait, and yes I am angry right now.
/r/MensRights30/06/25 02:22 PM

no, that was your interpretation, you are already accusing me of gay things in relation to you. I felt more like you are trying to forcefully out me, which is uncalled-for and often happens in a bullying context
/r/MensRights30/06/25 02:03 PM
2

yes but that is probably at the core of the conflict, because flat mate 1 did never respect boundaries or that I need more time to myself and I understand, because she wanted community living and I need more space. So maybe that is it. But she really uses people to dump all her trauma and problems on them, that is what she wants, and I do find it overstepping boundaries.

no the point of the post is to find clarity again but tbh it is making it worse now. I was trying to find the core of the issues and looks like I misfired it

yes I thought that would mean they are the right fit for me. But seeing them close has shown me that we are different, not on the same page.

why do you expect me to mention that for this conflict? I am still a man! I am not trans or anything, I am a cis male

I had a friend come over and she hated her and locked herself in her room. And her best male friend also triggers me, he gets super aggressive against me because I am tall and he is not. Just a clusterfuck, everything.

mmh but we live in a place where you hear everything. but you are right. we are not comfortable with each other. and I am the most sex positive, the other two not so much

well, that was the identity I accepted for myself, that is how I felt boxed in this flat share. But I do no longer feel that is right. And it's not like there is a 50 50 division, I am still more into men if that is your question
/r/MensRights30/06/25 01:38 PM

well, I am actually bisexual and that has caused me confusion, being sort of between the camps and as I wrote in the post, my mental health is not good, I actually have an identity disturbance. My ex-boyfriend left me for different reasons and my best gay friend is actually now doing drugs, so it looks like I need to distance myself from him. So far, straight men have been the most stable and reasonable, and that is why I am questioning the narratives. Don't know, I live in a fucked up place and…

well, one of their friends said "what you are living with a man? what if he brings a new girl over every week?". Yes they would be uncomfortable, but they believe I am gay. I only had my ex boyfriend, but I am actually bisexual
/r/MensRights30/06/25 01:29 PM

yes, I am bisexual, and I had bad experiences with men bullying me for being homosexual. And I even accepted that identity and only later found out that I am also into women

I had a narcissistic boss who was abusive of everyone including me, also he was a "friend" and used me when I was young and naive. I found out that he made his girlfriend prostitute herself and took the money. Also, I had a crush on him, I am bisexual, and he is too, but he just used it to his advantage.

I went to therapy and it was with a woman. I'm actually on the autistic spectrum and the whole social interaction of having to mark boundaries etc doesn't come naturally for me. I always feel somewhat detached and alien and always floated by, not causing any friction and staying in the background.
/r/MensRights30/06/25 10:41 AM

Yes, that is the part I don't write about in the post. I have my mental health story too, and it has a lot to do with the lack of boundaries and respect for me and my space. That is why I probably only should live alone. My mum also was abusive to my dad and he let it all happen, so I guess I am repeating the trauma and at least I try to get out of it now.

yeah, but when I was living only with the first, she basically treated it as a relationship or marriage substitute. When I started to avoid her, she got mad and insisted we take in a third person.
/r/MensRights30/06/25 10:14 AM

Yeah, my flat mate does that to me and it drags my mood down so much. And I let her because "that poor woman". When I set boundaries, she got upset and now is passive-aggressive towards me

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
