Nothing sexier than listening to someone whine about “virtue signalling”. The honest answer is they look the same except one has ugly short hair.

You make it sound like the only options are 1) have sex to make children and 2) “random bar sex one offs”

I know I have closed myself off more with people I really like for fear they will be turned off... whereas I've been more expressive in a relationship I have less stake in. I have no idea and that is pure speculation. I do know that the only way to figure it out is by talking and listening and being patient. Getting upset over someone's past, which they have no control over and which they can't change AND which has nothing to do with you might make it harder to discuss, if she thinks you're judg…

Then this is a separate issue. You claim to be concerned with your girlfriend's sexual past, when really you are concerned about her (ie your) sexual future. If you want a partner who is open to exploring new things with you, that's okay. You should be upfront about what you want, but that has nothing to do with her past.

I'm glad to see your edit. I've made that mistake many times before, and it rarely ends meaningfully. You might win the argument, but you won't convert anyone. Let them make their own journey and save your energy for people who are questioning or who are looking for help.

I am engaged to a guy who makes slightly less than I do. Our incomes are comparable, but I am slightly ahead, but he has a better retirement plan. Income is important, because I value independence ambition and hard work, but I rank sex and personality above it. Take what you want from my one anecdote, but I doubt it will give you closure :/

That's not really what BDSM is. It's about playing with power dynamics. You don't necessarily have to hurt someone to do that. Whatever you're into is cool, and your choice. My only point (And I'm sorry if its a little off topic from the original post) is that RP seems to advocate for a particular type of power dynamic for everyone, when human sexuality is really very weird and complicated.

Ah I see. Thanks for clarifying. And just to clarify my point, I didn't say you were pushing BDSM on others. What I said was that TRP pushes a specific sexual narrative (men=Dom/women=sub) on everyone. It's a popular narrative, but there are other narratives out there. My understanding of the bdsm/kink community is that they are about embracing all types of human sexual experiences, feminist and diligent about about consent - rather the opposite of TRP. In summary, BDSM/Kink = Inclusive, TRP = R…

They have reality all backwards. A friendship with me is not me wanting to be around you. It's about me allowing you to take part of my life. I'm the one holding a hand down to you. I hope all your friends realize how lucky they are

And if you do think its delusional, isn't it more delusional to believe that NONE of it is true? Anti-Red here. The best description I've heard of RP is "A pinch of truth and a pound of poison". Lots of cults start with their own fitness program ... doesn't mean I disagree with exercise. Obviously there are bits and pieces that are true. The parts about self-improvement, being self-reliant, the perks of being confident, and supporting men to leave abusive relationships is all stuff no one would …

Oh yeah... I remember that now, about the kink community condemning the book (back when Ghomeshi cited it as an example of a consenting relationship). That's interesting about alpha men being subs. It makes sense to me... I'm like the opposite (or, technically a switch - still learning).

It's not hard for [male] RP users to say nice, accurate things about the women they have decided to be with in a relationship or marry. I think the bigger challenge would be to have BP users say nice things about RP ideas/concepts, and RP users. We don't have to. See, RP users say very negative things about women all the time, but claim to love them too. It's fair then, to ask them to put their money where their mouth is and give concrete examples. BP users say negative things about RP ideas. An…

Never read the books, so I can't comment on the character. I dislike comparisons between BDSM and TRP. There's nothing wrong with a guy saying "Hey, I'm a het male Dom looking for a D/s relationship with a lady. That's my particular preference". TRP (or the worst of it) seems to push the idea that all men would be happier as Doms and all women would be happier as subs. Men who don't want to be doms are "cucks" (an insult in RP, but not the kink community). I mean, do what makes you happy in your…

"Men who fuck sluts shame them precisely because they consider them not worthy of commitment" Why do you think having NSA sex is the same as shaming someone? If both parties are agreeing to the terms, no one is "losing" or being shamed. Edit: formatting

Doing traditional female chores and "[running] around after a woman doing whatever you're told" are two very different things. My dad is the kind of guy who taught us to hunt/fish/maintain a car. He also did all the cooking. No one told him to, he just liked it, and mom's cooking was actually pretty terrible. We never questioned their roles or their feminity/masculinity. He'd have slapped the shit out of us. My dad eventually took over all the cooking/cleaning for my mom when her MS progressed. …

Can you please use that dictionary to look up "equivocation"? And then stop doing it? Let's review. I was responding to your idiotic comment: "this is the shit people don't understand about TRP. We love women... But we are misogynists, right guys? /s" You imply TRP is not misogynistic because terps have the capacity to show love to women. The definition of misogyny is "hatred, contempt and ingrained prejudice". You are willfully ignoring the deluge of examples of contemptuous and prejudiced TRP …

Don't equivocate. You conveniently left out the second half of that Wikipedia definition: "Misogyny can be manifested in numerous ways, including social exclusion, sex discrimination, hostility, androcentrism, patriarchy, male privilege, belittling of women, violence against women, and sexual objectification." Point is, loving a woman does not necessarily exempt you from being a misogynist.

Fantastic point. If OP is so convinced in the sanctitiy of RP philosophy, he should print off the sidebar et al. and give it to his girlfriend and say, "Here. This is what I believe, these are my friends, this is who I am and this is the person you are in love with." If he is going to live life in accordance to some narrow ideology, he should be prepared to apply it to every situation, not just at his wishy-washy convenience. If doing so seems wrong, then he needs to re-evaluate the idiot code o…

You can't do anything about that guy you dated and you can't really do much about idiots on TRP (except vent of course... You can totally do that). What you can do is control the amount of mental energy you devote to them. Unrequited love is sticky and it only really gets better when you stop fantasizing/thinking about/misremembering them. And the same goes for that toxic red pill shit. Yeah it's fun to complain about once in a while, but sometimes I need to step back and ask "why am I spending …

We're not making fun of your past. We're making fun of you now. Denial is awful. I watched my mom deal with denial as she struggled with a progressive neurological disease. She would get so angry and blame herself and us as she got sicker because her bullshit naturopathic diet routine or exercise regime must have been interrupted. Alienating her family and being a miserable person was the price she paid to pretend she was in control of her failing body. Reading your posts just makes me sad.

Depending on where you live, there may be free or subsidized counselling services available. Usually larger urban areas have more services. Because they're free, they may not be the best quality, but it might be helpful to ask and see what's available. I would agree with the poster who suggested empathy training. Also the person who mentioned putting some brakes on the porn for a bit. In the meantime, why not find read something by a female author/ female protagonist in whatever genre you enjoy.…

Wow, fuck TRP for making you feel this way. Please don't give up on university. Do it to spite your own doubts. I don't know where you go to university, but in Canada so many of the campuses are almost 2/3 female now. I did my Masters at Dalhousie, and the med school class that year was almost 70% female. Everyone feels overwhelmed at school. It's not supposed to be balanced. You will get through it. Also, therapy is great... Don't stop looking until you find someone who can empathize with you.

Yeah there's a difference between a layperson's (TRP and OP's bf fall into that category) interpretation of evolutionary psych and that of someone who actually studies it. What I remember about it in any of my classes is that my professors never gave it the time of day. There might be some sense to it, but overall it's reductive, it's not testable and therefore not scientific. Sure, maybe not 100% bull, but let's put it this way: if I hold a stick out and spin in a circle, then stop, there's a c…

(Female feminist lurker here): if TRP has anything to offer, it's the concept of personal agency in a relationship (which they did not invent, of course). I can see why reasonable people might buy into that part. It just fails so spectacularly in its application of this concept.

How, as a man, do I open myself up to accepting women just the way they are? Eh... how would you do this to men? Sorry, but I don't think there is any trick to this. I feel bad that you have had such negative experiences with your mother and bullies that it paints your experience with 50% of the population. Just keep using CBT to examine your negative feelings to see if they're a valid reflection of reality (which they may be, or they may not be.. don't discount all of your experience) What are …

The problem is that you are putting the emphasis on the fact that it works on women, implying that men are somehow an exception. Conditioning people's behaviour absolutely works. That statement is more accurate. So why is it so difficult for some of you to word it in that way? It seems you would rather make these awkwardly phrased sentences to avoid a suggestion that men can be equated to women. Anyway, that's enough fighting with trolls. For example, I am person -> I don't wear skirts -> women wear skirts -> women aren't people, just sluts and whores because the only reason I would to comprehend wearing a skirt as a women would be if I wanted sex. I don't even know what logical fallacy that belongs under. But at least you know its fucked, so that's progress? So you don't understand the logic of wanting to look good as a means only and not an end (to get sex)? Can you at least accept that this is a desire experineced by both men …
