Funny enough, this got me. I intentionally turn on the social awkwardness on the first date when I know I won't want a second date. Then I don't ever have to deal with any conversation or drama, it gets to be her idea for us to both fade away.

There's a few options. She was involved with the co worker and it was recently ended. This was a "revenge" thing. The co-worker is not well liked and she took it as if to be a "prank" and generate some laughs in her friend group. In either case I think there is very little chance that no one in the group knew about it.

They got off easy by both keeping their mouths shut, probably. I don't believe they just happened to accidentally mix it somehow. Taking care of a baby is hard. Combined with a drug addiction, it overwhelms a lot of parents and they look for a way out. I think it's more likely they intentionally drugged the baby, either to try to keep it from crying or to actually kill it.

If it's via text before the begging starts, expect to start getting scam robocalls soon too, as they sell phone numbers of their "marks"

I know this isn't the right sub for a comment like this but tbh I don't blame anyone who leaves someone who is going to be in prison for years. Life's gotta move on at some point and even if someone isn't guilty, I wouldn't really expect a person to hang around for someone who can't really be there for them. Eh, most aren't bad in the way that some of those acab people would claim, but if you watch videos of or have some base interactions, a lot of cops rely almost entirely on baseless threats to try to scare people into forfeiting their rights, then take retribution on people for exercising their rights. Grooming is a process that takes time and starts before 18 in those cases. That doesn't mean she's doing porn before she turns 18. It means she's being groomed to eventually do it.
