According to whom? A white woman can't even be in the same photo with a black man without people calling her trash, tainted or future single mother. I would argue that Asian/White combo is more socially acceptable.

This doesn't make sense. If only women bought the cupcakes, they wouldn't make as much money. I know I wouldn't willingly pay more money for the exact same item.

She also told him that he shouldn't wear that kind of stuff around her at 3:40. It was calling for her.

Thank you. I'm trying to figure out why this poster makes it a point to specify that the rapist was black. Does that somehow make it worse? That fact is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

I had to close my laptop after seeing this comment.... "Of course he's "just as bad" or worse, because he's 36 and should know better than to disrespect another person in that way. She's 20, and yes, that makes her an adult, but any adult over 30 knows that she's still in a transitional period between childhood and adulthood, and we all make mistakes. It's not about "male double-standards", it's about an adult who agreed to publicly disrespect a young, vulnerable woman, and that is unacceptable.…

If I remember correctly, my wife complained that she did the same with her as well. This neighbor has since moved, so we haven't had any dealings with her in a long time.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what intersectionality is. Let's just use my marriage as an example. My wife expects me to take out the garbage, wash the cars, fix stuff and etc. because that is the "man's job" in her mind. She cleans the apartment and things like that because that is her job. Those are our gender roles. However, I used to have a neighbor that ran inside every time she saw me because of my race (I'm assuming here). My gender roles as a man had nothing to do with why my neighbor was …

The answer to this question is too hard to answer without writing a novel. So, I'll say that there are some points that I agree with and some that I don't. I don't. There are some things that are unique to my experience as man, and some experiences are unique because I am black. (I am not speaking for all black men obviously). I don't think that our gender roles get enough attention in either movement really. In my experience in dealing with feminism and MRAs, we aren't even considered to be men…

According to this, I guess I am not a man. I am another sex called "minority". Non-whites don't come in male and female varieties. Who knew?

I forgot about him. You are right up to a point. My apologies. I'll expand a bit. I don't think a male talk show host on daytime television with millions of viewers like Ellen could get away with the same thing that she does. The female audience members go crazy too. Just off the top of my head she's done it to The Rock, the old spice guy, the one model dude from the Calvin Klein superbowl ad. I think the Ellen show is a great study of how men can be objectified.

Ellen always makes buff guys take off their shirts too. No one ever says anything about it. Somehow I don't think male talk show hosts can do the same to female guests.

It's amazing how female politicians say that. If you disagree with something you disagree with it. No amount of hurrr duurrrrrr girrrlll powah sisterhood is going to change that. Women are not above the trappings of politics and elections, especially when they have constituents to answer to when they get back to their home districts.

Is what she did not violent? I'm not saying that he should have hit her or anything like that, but he didn't know what her intentions were and he didn't know if she had a blade on her. Everyone can't turn into Jet Li and slip out of a shirt and use that same shirt to tie up his attacker like you just recommended above. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

It's easy to say what you would do when you are not in that situation. I saw a man that was a little afraid and very angry that he couldn't do what he wanted to get crazy person off of him. He was the victim, but everyone on that subway was telling him that he couldn't defend himself. That HAD to be frustrating.

Well my neighbor(who is a white female) runs away from me every time she sees me. I'm 6'4, black and lift weights; I wouldn't hurt a fly. We've been neighbors for over a year and I can't tell you how she looks because she scurries away when she sees me, or she won't get out of the car until I go inside. I've never said a word to her, never done anything to her. She just seems to be afraid of me. She actually makes ME nervous.

I had to stop watching it. Raaaagggggeeeeee! She had the nerve to turn it back on the husband when he asked if the baby was his. I don't know who I'm more pissed at, her or the husband. His gut (and eyes for that matter) is telling him that he is raising someone else's kid and he let her shame him into not acting on it.

People like this cannot be reasoned with. When something is NEVER your fault; you just simply cannot be reasoned with. No amount of statistics, data or personal anecdotes will make a dent in his/her belief system. No use of even trying.

Men have body issues as well. There is a reason why men who don't even compete in bodybuilding take steroids to get jacked faster. Men get shamed for crap that they don't even have control over. Baldness, dick size, height.

When women get together and men are in the minority, they act the exact same way (if not worse) than men in the same situation. My experience in this comes from working in a female dominated building. They are as sexist as they claim us to be, they are no better. Ask a good-looking and/or fit male how he is treated when he is a minority around women.

I've never been the clubbing type. Whenever I went in my lower 20s, I got dragged there by coworkers and friends. It was actually fun though. The only problem I had was short guys kept bumping into me on purpose. Women eye-fucked me and actually felt me up (I was a lot slimmer back then). I don't drink, can't dance and really loud music gives me a pounding headache so I avoid clubs. You don't have to buy drinks if you're good-looking and/or confident, she'll get another dude to buy drinks and ta…

Situations like this call for a certain bluntness. If a woman goes on a few dates with you and not even offer to pay, ask her when she is going to take you out. Just be prepared to walk away from a woman that says she is "traditional" and expects a man to pay. Nope. You have to believe that you are as much of a catch/prize as she is. Your time matters, you are important too. That attitude will keep you from being taken advantage of in dating. A date should be graded both ways. You are interviewi…

Sometimes I think that some women see manhood as a child sees adulthood. They think that you get to do what you want and blah blah blah. Walk a mile in a man's shoes and you see that it's not all fun and games. We have to deal with some real stuff out here.

I've seen this on occasion. I've also seen it with policemen around. Hell I've even heard mothers tell their kid that "that man" is going to come get you if you don't behave. Just a general man, some man, any man.

I go to the gym 5-6 times a week. It is my experience that people (myself included) are wayyyy into their workouts to give a shit about the women there. Men are also intimidated to go workout if they are out of shape. I know I was. If you go enough you'll see that the other guys there are doing their own thing. No one cares about you ladies....Really. Go do your sets like everyone else and get out.

I've played all three Mass Effect games. Punching the reporter is actually just a renegade choice running gag because she tries to spin your heroic actions to be very negative. You get fed up with the "gotcha" questions and have the choice to punch her. How is the game misogynist when you can have a super strong female protagonist (who is arguably more popular by the way) that saves an entire galaxy? My Shepherd in all three games has been the same woman. The voice acting is better. Nothing to s…

You can be shy/anti-social and KNOW you're good looking. I am...and I do. Some women do feel like they can touch you whenever they feel like it. Older women have said all kinds of inappropriate stuff to me. If you workout, some women will grab on your arms to feel how hard your muscles are. The OP could be a troll, but this stuff does happen.

Meh, my wife has read the book and asked me questions about it. He is blow hard comedian really. It's the kind of book that says "This is the reason why men do certain things, I'm telling you this so you can be ready." Every man isn't the same and I had to explain that to my wife. That book/movie will have a lot of women single. It's just Steve Harvey cashing in on being a "relationship expert". Nothing to see here.

I haven't hit a woman at all. I've had ex-girlfriends try to punch me. I've had plastic coat hangers broken over my forearms. I've been hit with remotes and cordless phones. I've had things thrown at me. I've had a female co-worker hit me in the back with a closed fist as hard as she could because I said something she didn't like (nothing sexual or anything like that). Prom tickets are $70.00 now? Damn. Yeah, I'm going to have to say that you ask her to pony up for her own ticket. I mean, you are taking care of dinner too right? I think that's fair. Be warned though, this has a huge chance of backfiring. You have to be prepared to go alone and possibly catch some shit from her about being broke and/or cheap. I'm black and a centrist democrat for all that's worth. To be fair, some of the posters in this sub-reddit kind of rub me the wrong way. By the same token, mainstream feminism as we see it doesn't care about minority women. I think they've pretty much said so.

I'm married. I don't think marriage is the problem. Laws that screw men over are the problem. To tell men not to get married is understandable, but it is a sledgehammer solution to a problem that requires a scalpel. I don't blame men at all. The urban way of dress is not gangster. Also, tinted windows and fancy rims? I see all races with tinted windows and fancy rims here in Alabama. Granted, it would seem that my people have gravitated to big stupid rims, but that doesn't mean anything either. I've had this debate with my wife and other women after seeing this point made by Seth Rogen in "Zack and Miri Make a Porno"(funny movie). Women openly admit they they fuck machines, men are seen as creepy losers if we do it. All have admitted that they can't explain why it is okay for a woman to fuck a machine and not a man. Just one of those things I guess.

There are a lot of "little" things that older women get away with when it comes to younger men. For instance, I had a neighbor who was in her early 40s when I was a teenager, it was apparently okay for me to rub her feet and give her massages so I can "learn how to please women" when I got older. I didn't think much of it, but there would be a shitstorm if a 40 year old man made a teenage girl rub anything. Especially under the guise of teaching her how to please men when she's older.

You're right, but I don't think that this article refers to that. I think that this article is saying that men shouldn't be playing video games period. I've had this fight with my wife many times before she gave up trying to change me. You can be a good man to her, take her out on dates regularly, do all the things a husband/boyfriend is "supposed" to do and she still wouldn't want you to play video games. Why do video games keep getting thrown around in articles like these? I'm happily married, in college and an avid gamer. Playing video games does not make you immature, most triple A titles aren't even for children. Some women have a problem with anything that makes a man smile that doesn't have anything to do with them. Some women like to control the happiness in the house. I guess that's only for men. Back when I worked at a female dominated office, I've been subjected to what women would call harassment and sexual discrimination.
