I’d say there’s a middle ground where you read the body language and just say, “Hey. I’m going to kiss you. Is that okay?” It’s got both the confidence and the consent signal.

And I'm not saying that they necessarily are damsel-in-distress films. I'm just talking about the theme in general. And I don't disagree that some of them are reasonably progressive. I just think, in general, Disney and children's films in general have a lot of opportunity along the lines of making the genders less stereotyped in general. I mean, personally, I'd rather little girls AND boys be watching more gender neutral movies over the damsel-in-distress films. I don't care if it's through feminism or men's rights movements... gender neutrality should probably be a goal for everyone. Otherwise, we all inevitably end up making hypocritical statements and both sides lose credibility.
