I have mixed feelings on this one. I directionally agree with you. Men have been fucked by these laws for a century. It feels good to be treated equally for a change. If you get married, shouldn’t any assets accrued during the marriage become joint property? Else I really feel like the institution is worthless. This guy didn’t receive any of the accrued assets during marriage, and that’s generally speaking the law. If you don’t want to share accrued assets, don’t get married.

I think this is one of the issues with this discussion as women tend to measure effort in terms of time, but men measure it in terms of exertion, risk, danger, stress, and actual outcomes. I don’t know where you got that stat from but whatever it is, it is a viable lifestyle choice. Why shouldn’t two people be free to lead traditional lifestyles? That clearly works for many. While true, at least that’s an honest bargain. They understand that they have duties too if they want a traditional marriage. The left believes it’s abuse to expect women to have responsibilities. Only men should be expected to do everything. They retain traditional gendered expectations of men about working hard and earning money and men are expected to take at least half of every other household duty.
