You’ll be accused of not letting things go, bringing up the past, or even harassing him. And then once again, your voice isn’t heard Will also run into “why won’t you give me the benefit of the doubt?” Twisting it on you. Now you’re the bad person for getting hurt by their behavior. 😑

Do you have an example of something I can say to a guy who asks? It happens pretty often, but I don’t normally get a response like this.

Arrogance is assuming people want your opinion, especially when you think you know better than the literal professional in that field. Anyway, good luck out there.

I absolutely would have reacted in the same way if this person was a woman. What’s arrogant about not wanting someone’s opinion? Especially that of someone who has no knowledge of the field I work in? I’d describe that as discerning.

Why should that be a part of life I HAVE to accept? If this was a workplace environment it’d be a different story. But I’d never even met the guy— never even had a conversation over the phone. Even my closest creative partners are emotionally intelligent enough to not spew their ideas unprompted. He was looking to validate himself, not to participate in meaningful collaboration.

I didn’t even make criticisms about the movie! We were just texting and making jokes— not even critiquing the movie. I wanted to have a bit of banter to try and get to know him better. But then he’d be like— ARE YOU WATCHING??? Ugh so embarrassed I even allowed him to talk to me like that.

Thank you so much for writing this out! It’s exactly how I feel and was having trouble putting it into words! It’s crazy how in one, literal 5 minute conversation, this guy fucked it up SO bad! 😂

Now I’m really wishing I wasn’t so polite— should have called him out even more hardcore! Lol

Omg this is so true. The whole orchestrating a situation so they can look important and posture as the most brilliant thinker of our time!! Sorry that happened to you. Its always meant to leave the other person feeling undervalued and inferior 😓

😂😂😂 Helvetica documentary lol It’s also always wrapped in this facade of ~I’m just trying to help~ But reality is that they just can’t compute how a female could be better at something than them. Another thing he also said was, “I’m surprised, this kept me interested the whole time! I thought based on the thumbnail that it was going to be poor quality! “

I know right?? He was so quick to say he wasn’t going to apologize so he obviously felt bad, but his ego stopped him from being a normal human and saying— ahh I over stepped, my bad.

This is actually a traditional way for women to feed their husbands in Ghana. Wonder if she’s culturally more connected to west Africa.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
