the historical definition (not feminism's) of patriarchy is a system where positions of power were held by only men. Feminism's definition of patriarchy fails because not all men had access to positions of power and not all men benefited from those men in power. Yet when they talk about patriarchy today they mean all men, not just the men on the top. That's the way the word is being currently used, it means we are the patriarchy, regardless the amount of power or privilege we have. That's an adm…

dumbass. "real definitions" don't exist. they are not dictated by the law of god. they are created by humans.

When feminists attack men via patriarchy statements, they only make themselves look foolish. Very few people outside of feminist circles consider their patriarchy dogma a rational argument. How will pretending to go along with this malformed idea benefit the MRM? Hahaha, sure as hell that must be why they get billions in funding every year, and are at the top of organizations such as the UN. Buying into feminist dogma isn't going to help the MRM. It isn't buying into their dogma, dumbass. It is …

I won't pretend that I am a member of a fictitious social faction just to score points in a gender war. Let them beat the shit out of you without putting up a fight then. The MRM makes a big deal out of facts and logic, lying would undermine that principle. lol Actually when they attack patriarchy they attack men. When they say "patriarchy" they really mean men. So, under those terms, whether you want it or not, you are part of patriarchy. How is that for logic and facts?

I'm sick of this topic.

No. Is this whole revolutionary thing of not being ashamed of being a man a thing of fringe groups nowadays? Lemme guess: it is.
/r/MensRights21/09/13 12:40 AM

You mad? Not sure who you are, but if you are saying "we have made progress ", I'm guessing you have some leading position in any of the instances that advances the cause of men's rights and are not just some dude posting on reddit right?
/r/MensRights21/09/13 12:35 AM
-2

His question is stupid. He plays along the feminist argument that we must be ashamed of being "part of the patriarchy", aka being men, and that any other thing would be "privilege". Brainwashed idiot.
/r/MensRights21/09/13 12:27 AM
-1

See? this is a retarded discussion. Does the patriarchy exist? does it not? I won't get us anywhere. Instead, we get to define what patriarchy is.
/r/MensRights21/09/13 12:17 AM
-2

And how has that worked for you so far? Has this in any way helped men defend themselves from the attack they are experiencing in every front of our culture?
/r/MensRights21/09/13 12:15 AM

Don't be naive. We get to define what patriarchy is.
/r/MensRights21/09/13 12:14 AM

They will attack men whether you "provide bait" or not. We need to defend ourselves, and apologizing forever is not an effective way to do so.

/r/MensRights19/09/13 10:20 PM

because it's not the man who is choosing to have the child but the woman. Is there any moral obligation for men to raise their biological children? not as long as there aren't any moral obligation for women not to abort. My body my choice, right?
/r/MensRights19/09/13 10:05 PM
1

yeah, and of course aborting children for being male is not misandry.
/r/MensRights19/09/13 09:59 PM
17

the woman can raise the kid with other people. there are plenty of ways to deal with this without forcing the man to pay for what he doesnt want to (or can't), so put your sanctimonious facade aside or stfu.

I keep hearing this shit, but at the same time, I never heard them say "we don't hate men, we LOVE men!".

I wonder how will they conciliate this with their beloved fat acceptance.
/r/MensRights19/09/13 09:14 PM

/r/MensRights19/09/13 09:04 PM

Yeah, your argument is that power has nothing to do whith rights, wich is stupid, ignorant, and obtuse. and no room for misinterpretation because it's ambiguous lol'd hard.
/r/MensRights18/09/13 12:34 AM

nice cop out bro. Good luck trying to convince someone that rights are not power though.
/r/MensRights17/09/13 11:56 PM

They do They do? They do what? With 'activity' there's no room for misinterpretation because it's ambiguous Are you fucking shitting me? the "activity" could be towards anything related to women's rights and interests Just answer this question: are rights power yes or no?
/r/MensRights17/09/13 11:48 PM
1

jesus christ I was talking about definitions of feminism not power. Anyway, do you disagree that rights are power?
/r/MensRights17/09/13 11:39 PM
1

yeah, and what does that definition have in common with other accepted definitions, even of groups that are not egalitarion but supremaicists? they all have one thing in common: they advocate for an increase of power of women as a group.

I'm talking about how the minimum necessary definition for a concept to exist, is common to every other sophitsticated definition you can construct on top of that. I'm talking about the very minimum which is common to everyone's concept of feminism so there is at least some common ground for a debate to be even possible. You can buy the marketing speech of a company and say that a certain chair "is the epitome of comfort, bringing a sense of class and style to your lifestyle and bring you the be…

That's bacuase you clearly lack an understanding of how politics work, just like most people on this forum. I'm talking about the minimum necessary definition for a concept to exist. You can buy the marketing speech of a company and say that a certain chair "is the epitome of comfort, bringing a sense of class and style to your life and bring you the best moments of your life", which doesn't negate the fact that a chair is a device where you can sit. You can go by the definition of "feminism is …

/r/MensRights17/09/13 06:33 AM

and implies there's a concerted, intentional effort on the part of most or all feminists to gain more power than men, which isn't true. Are you being deliberately obtuse or just lacking reading comprehension? At the very minimum if someone wants equality it's because they have less power than their counter part, which indeed "implies" they want to increase their power. Do you see feminists wanting to decrease their power in areas where they have mor power than men, such as child support disputes…

Yeah, it's getting sort of ridiculus, to the point of "having a rapist" or "being a survivor" is becoming something cool and fashionable among teenage girls. I shit you not. Seen this shit first hand and heard other people (parents) say the same thing. Think about it. "Survivor get a lot of love and support. Being normal in many cases doesn't. This is totally relevant to men's rights. A person, proven a fraud, saying men oppress women in gaming community, and given a shit ton of underserved atention, damaging the reputation of a community. And her assertion whether you need to be a gamer or not to make such analisis of gender roles, while not necessaily false, is irrelevant. The point here is that she made a very poor job, and it was blatant from day one that she didn't do enough research to give her claims any sort of legitimacy, and…

You have a very bad video watching comprehension. The very thing she says on the topic is "I'm actually not a fan of videogames. I had to learn a lot about videogames in the process". "Later she says "I don't like videogames because, blah blah, violence". Well, it's pretty clear she doesn't like video games.

Why would she invest in someone like that. I mean, do you tell her about your lonely past of being a social outcast. Do you tell her that you are basically a basement dweller? do you that you read the red pill and believe in that like it's the gospel? You don't? then why should she tell you something she probably knows you won't be ok with, since she feels your judgemental, uptight and faggotic vibe? weren't you talking about economics and marketing? anyway, by that I mean that you don't need to sweat it that much over the ridiculousness of the curriculum or becoming a brilliant student in such environment. No. this is ridiculous. If someone calls security on you basically for existing, and then you have a security employee getting close to "in you your face", blocking your vision from what otherwise is a pleasant view, then yes, they are bothering you. I guess you're fine with your email and phone communications being tracked and recorded 24/7 by the government, as long as they "are leaving you alone".
/r/MensRights09/09/13 07:51 AM

Didn't read the article but it sounds like an awful idea. First, girls who want to learn science and tchnology already have normal schools, nobody is preventing them to join those. And second, to make it worth the cost, you should have to teach those girls how to balance motherhood and career, or how to forfeit having children altoghether. It would be a huge waste of money to spend all those respources in women who will work a couple of years and then quit to "dedicate to the family".

/r/MensRights09/09/13 02:01 AM

Sure, in an ideal world, we would prefer not to have a single misogynist in the community. But in every movement there are wackos. I don't understand why people hold the MRM to a higher standard.

IMO, as MRAs we should not work to abolish gender roles, imo. The goal is to raise awareness, and build tolerance and/or acceptance. Everyone should be who he wants to be, or who he is. If a boy in school likes to read and is not into sports, he should not be pushed into becoming "more of a man" just to conform the traditional gender role nor should he be chastised for being who he is. On the other hand, if boys are naturally more restless, their brains mature slightly slower than girls brain, a…

women are more proficient at emotional abuse. they learn covert abuse at a very early age. Edit. Addendum Relational aggression, defined as behaviors that harm others via damage to relationships, includes acts such as using social exclusion or spreading malicious rumors. Evidence indicates that girls are more likely to engage in relational forms of aggression than the physical forms of aggression that have previously captured the majority of empirical attention. http://www.psychologicalscience.o…

emotional abuse is a far more important topic than sexual abuse against men because it is far more common. And thank you for derailing this thread into your petty sexual abuse agenda.

With which goal? finantial abuse of men.
/r/MensRights01/09/13 04:24 AM

that's actually what came to my mind. To teach men to protect themselves from being financially abused would create a ton of problems in current society, imo. one correction, though. I believe women do not redistribute wealth. They keep it for themselves or for the 'alphaest' of males..

Agreed. I have seen the moderator in question (rfeminism mod) to complain that posting one link to a usually men's rights related issue, equals "encouraging brigading". That's just dumb and it is a letdown to know that some mods from this subreddit agree with that stance.

IMO, this whole "women are raped because of their attire" is a total strawman. I actually don't know anyone who legitimately thinks that dressing provocatively equals "asking to be raped". However, a totally different thing is when that same woman is judged as a slut. Being judged as a slut will bring a host of consequences, including bad mouthing, gossiping, and discrimination. But rape, I don't think so.

It doesn't make sense to me. Walking bare breast on the street not necessarily will be conductive to rape. However, it will depend a lot on the neighbourhood. And I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that walking bare breast will get her insulted and even beaten more often than raped.
/r/MensRights11/08/13 09:18 PM

There you go. Females are praised when they reject sex, men are shamed when they reject sex. Gender roles, man.
/r/MensRights10/08/13 03:10 AM
2

Well. Feminists focus a lot on rape because, since rape is ordinarily thought of as a male problem, they can claim the higher moral ground ("we don't rape") with little challenge. Same thing with domestic violence. This gives them political power. That's why it's of critical importance to demonstrate how women commit these crimes as often as men. Where else could they draw moral authority from if we demonstrate that they are morally no better than men? This would mean no political power to them.

This is exactly the problem. And it not only affects hetherosexual men, but gay and lesbians too. Research after research shows that violence in lesbian couples is as prevalent as violence in hetherosexual couples. However given the gender bias, lesbians don't have support or assistance from institutions. As of right now, hetherosexual women are the most protected group in the juducial system, excluding everyone else.

Exactly. Therefore female rapists will supposedly rape less frequently. Meaning there would have to be more of them to have the same number of victims. But we don't know. I misread this. I think we agree then that's it's unlikely that female rapists have por victims per capita.
/r/MensRights05/08/13 02:31 AM

well, it's clear to me that for some obscure reason you think there are less female rapists than male rapists. Well, jfy: Perhaps surprisingly, statistics have shown that lesbian people experience domestic violence at a very similar rate to that of heterosexual women (Waldner-Haygrud, 1997; AVP, 1992). It has been estimated that between 17-45% of lesbians have been the victim of at least one act of violence perpetrated by a female partner (Burke et al, 1999; Lie et al, 1991), and that 30% of les…

/r/MensRights05/08/13 01:57 AM

well, i believe there are biological differences among sexes though that's irrelevant to this argument. And your strange use of that argument though suggests you actually have a bias towards believing that there are less female rapists than there are male rapists.
/r/MensRights05/08/13 01:51 AM
1

I think the thought process is well explained in both the inforgraphi and the blog post. 40% of female rapists is an estimate that seems accurate enough to me after folllowing their reasoning. Unless you show me that individual rapists of either gender victimized more people on average than their couterparts, I don't see why I should believe that there is a difference. Specially taking into account that other kinds of violence are equally distributed among genders. I'm no statistician, but I bel…

I don't know of one. I seriously doubt that good data on it exists. Well, that's the problem. People interested in finding the truth on these things have to deal with incomplete studies that intentionally leave information aside, like the one in question, and have to rely in guesswork and make reasonable asumptions. Why does it matter though? Isn't the scale of the problem be based on the number of victims rather than the number of perpetrators? It does matter. Even if there are 50/50 victims of…

/r/MensRights05/08/13 12:08 AM

I think this criticism has been blown way out of proprtion. You should simply say that you assume that there is equal number of victims per perpetrator regardless of the sex. It's not an unreasonable assumption.

However, gays, lesbian, and hetherosexual men don't have as much protection and assistance from the state, as heterosexual women. So in terms of domestic violence, heterosexual women are the most privileged.

I for one think it's not cool to label the guy "a predator" for having sex outside marriage. That's exactly what's wrong with society and feminism right now. Just having sex with a younger woman or with an attarctive college student is enough for people to start saying he's "a predator" or "he has issues". That's what we are fighting here last time I checked. I hope he realized the kind of people he was working for. I also wouldn't mind him joining our side.

Theories of patriarchy are not in fact theories of women’s liberation. Instead of starting with an assessment of the material position of women in capitalist society, they start with crude biological assessments of the positions of men and women. They point no way forward for women’s liberation. Why then have they become so popular? Here we have to look very briefly at how the women’s movement has developed since the late sixties [...]. [...]The logic is that if we change the attitudes of men we…

This is a reasonable assumption. However, it doesn't lead to the conclusions you are drawing from it. Men do the same thing with regards to portraying all other men as assholes and themselves as the one good man. That's how you get White Knights and male feminists. Let's see. Slut shaming. It is something that is enforced mostly by women. See "sexual cartel theory". Women as a group don't benefit from sex being in abundance in society, because the less scarce it is, the less investment they can demand from potential suitors. This article explain this idea in more detail http://theumlaut.com/2013/07/02/the-economics-of-slut-shaming/ Male slut shaming (or demonizartion of male sexuality). Anyway, your understanding of gender is pretty poor. You are basing your conclusions that men "are shamed for liking sex" on very recent events (the don't be that guy campaign). That's not enough to refute my point that we (men and women) are biologically wired to look up to men who have a lot of sex, and look down to women who have a lot of sex.

Of course, that's my point.
/r/MensRights31/07/13 06:18 AM

Yeah, go call some heterosexual dude on the street gay and see if it is not a loaded term. Again you are reading a lot of shit that just is not there. The whole narrative allegedly behind the "slutwalks" is completely contrived and doesn't make any sense. The true message being sent is "we are sluts, and we embrace being sluts". If you are so happy of being a slut, by it bothers you when I call you a slut?
/r/MensRights31/07/13 06:17 AM
2

Yeah, but you are aware of the different attitudes you are going to elicit if you dress like a homeless person vs dressing like a corporate worker, amirite?
/r/MensRights31/07/13 06:09 AM
3

Then the whole thing is extremely poorly done. Outsiders shouldn't be fucking experts to be able to understand their message. The whole idea communicated by a bunch of women dressing like sluts and calling theirselves sluts is that they embrace the term. It would be like a guy in the gay pride parade acting offended because someone called him gay. Or worse, being mad at someone because he wore a t-shirt saying "I love gays". Retarded.

exactly my thoughts. it's just irrationality. They don't know what they want.
/r/MensRights31/07/13 05:23 AM

that would be retarded. the whole point of the thing is to embrace the term "slut", to immunize themselves to it, so it loses its offening power. Yet if a couple of guys wearing shirts saying "i love sluts" get called out and accussed of being "degrading", then the word hasn't lost offensive power at all. LOL. It just proves how retarded feminists are.

dude, you love making stupid posts in threads related to education. I recommend you to shift your attention to a different topic or to try to post less cynic and more constructive stuff.

This video has been posted at least three times in this sub. One of them it was accompained by a newspaper article and interviews to police chieff, IIRC, and other bureaucrats. They said in no uncertain terms that she should be severely reprimanded. Guys, you need to understand one thing. In Swedish TV you will see more scenes of explicit sex than scenes of violence. Violence is frowned upon and a lot less accepted there than in other developed nations.
/r/MensRights22/07/13 02:14 AM

Well, the poster in the OP says rape and violence are men's issues, not poverty issues.
/r/MensRights22/07/13 01:43 AM
5

After this video was known to the public there was a general condemnation among political, police and legal authorities about this policewoman behavior. Something I doubt would happen in the US or the UK. This kind of sensationalism puts AVFM at the same level of tabloids like The Sun or worse, imo.
/r/MensRights21/07/13 09:35 PM

The poster says "It's a men's issue". It doesn't address poverty, so it is fundamentally saying that violence it's a problem inherent to male gender. But who raises the most violent and abusive men in society? Single women. Sources: The children of single teenage mothers are more at risk for later criminal behavior. In the case of a teenage mother, the absence of a father also increases the risk of harshness from the mother. Source: M. Mourash, L. Rucker, Crime and Delinquency 35. 1989. The prop…

LOL, I was banned in my very first post on reddit in that sub. It was a post about comparing sexual education in Sweden with the rest of the world. Apparently it portrayed the "uber feminist" Sweden in a too positive light for the so called "libertarians" on there. You'll be better off reading any standard pua forum than reading that sub, imo. I mean, the levels of delusion and self aggrandizemnt are the same.

Very good video. Good design, easy to the eye, easy to follow. Not something you could say about most MRA videos., regardless the veracity of the content.
/r/MensRights20/07/13 09:41 PM

LOL. I bet Sweden is definitely better than the US and the UK in terms of justice and law. After that video was known to the public, political, legal, and police authorites almost unanimously condemed the behavior of that police woman. Something that I'm completely sure would not happen in the US.

Every time I read the replies to these articles about the need of male teachers in the system, my heart dies a little a bit more . Today is "you ain't gonna get them". Last time was some dull stateless-capitalist (a.k.a., wrongly, as "libertarian") saying that since men are biologically less driven to choose teaching, then nothing should be done. Jesuschrist thats the most extreme political idiocy and naivete and gullibility I have ever seen.

I'm not sure it's even a solution though. Firstly it would probably generate some resentment by female teachers, secondly it would have to be a hell of a pay boost to make a kid who wants to study engineering to even think about teaching or nursing as a career. It doesn't have to be such a radical change in preference. It's about making teaching more male friendly, and more welcoming for men. If a guy who is engeneer-minded could see how his interests have room in the field of elementary or even…

I acknowledge that there's a huge issue with males and education but I don't agree that increasing opportunity increases interest. There's been decades of positive discrimination for women in STEM fields and women still prefer to study humanities. Of course opportunity alone is not enough. Paying male teachers more than female teacher would be one solution to that. Same for men and teaching, if we want more male teachers the encouragement has to come alot earlier than the hiring phase, like two …

Do you realize the ongoing problem boys and young men are having in educaction? They are behind in a lot of things including reading comprehension, desertion, degrees. And in primary school, boy friendly programs have been curtailed, a mong a huge list of things that make the system boy-unfriendly. There should be a way to encourage more men to get into teaching, in school and work, to begin with. Good government policies are needed.

Think about it: when men are being treated poorly, it's usually because they're either being treated like women or told they should avoid being like women. Sigh. Women are not seen as inferior. Men and women experience different rewards and punishments (praising and shaming) based on their own traditional gender roles. Think about it: Women are praised for turning sex down and shamed if they don't. Men are praised when they have sex and shamed when they turn sex down or when they are virgins. An…

you're playing too much into the "slut shaming is bad" narrative. Slut shaming is bad when it's used to force women into traditional roles. The woman of this story deserves to be shamed not because she abandoned traditional roles, but because she lied and deceived in order to make monetary gain. That's pretty close to being a whore, or a slut.
/r/MensRights07/07/13 08:51 AM

Correct me if I'm wrong but I perceive a double standard here. I get from the way you phrased your question in the original post that you support the idea of the man signing a contract to take care of the child after birth by himself if the mother doesn't want it. However, you don't like the idea that the mother signs a contract to take care of the child after birth if the father doesn't want it?

Dude, you are missing the point: feminists are dumb. They believe there is a conspiracy of men trying to gain something at their expense. Which is not the case. True opression is capital's opression over human beings.
/r/MensRights06/07/13 07:44 PM
1

That was brilliant. I like his way to put it: feminism is not about hating man, but only about IGNORING men's issues and their issues and villianizing them. I would add, It's about de-humanizing men. Also, I completely agree that the word "hatred" doesn't belong to politics nor to the study of social issues. It doesn't help at all, it is not logical, and it is too emotional.

Affiermative action in the worplace will start to dissapear as long as there are more women entrepreneurs; sexual harrassment laws will relax once women become more and more sexually active (by that I mean they taking sexual initiative as much as men); etc. Meanwhile, we are bound to have to deal with all this BS on a daily basis.

Good post. I'm not a marxist, however I'm aware that there is plenty of criticism of so called "marxist feminism" among marxists. To make a long story short, "marxist feminists" say that patriarchy is a problem in and of itself, separate from capitalism. More rigorous marxists reject this idea, and claim that if there has ever been opression of women, it's roots are in capitalism itself and not in men. that's the problem, man. In the collective unconscious the idea of mutilation of men is still "funny"

Because men are taught to suck it up and shut up. Which is best interest of everybody else except men.

It is not about money. It's about public awareness. Men should send the message that said behavior won't be tolerated.

I want to but being not native english I don't understand some parts of the dialogue with such shitty audio. So I need a transcript. Or at least someone assures me that there wasn't any racial or sexist slur uttered by the guy.

With regards to your second pargraph. I think an equally fair type of agreement would be the family where the woman has the obligation to financially support the family, and the man is entitled to a part of his wife's income while he has the obligation to take care of the children. Also, an equally fair scenario would be one where both partners are financially independent, and "outsource" childcare dting day time. Another equally fair scenario is when both parent share the childcare equally, by …

Yes, I apologize about what you mention in your first pargraph..Somehow I worded my post as if you were saying women were privileged in muslim society, when you actually said that they werent being oppressed nor privileged, but participating of a rather fair "agreement", am I right? I think so.

understand we still don't have a system where every child born immediately has his/her DNA sampled, sequenced and matched up with both parents(where, if the father isn't present, he is contacted and informed of this child). There has to be a way to streamline this process and make the procedure feasib "bodily autonomy" has been violated in the name of a lot of less honorable causes than this. Going against all government action jus because it is the government is ridiculous.

So, a man has no right or say on whether a pregnancy should go on yet he does have an obligation to financially support the child if he actualy is born. Yet the women do have the right to abort and is entitled to a part of father's income upon childbirth. This argument would slighly make more sense if joint custody was a reality happening in practice, where man's resources don't go to the mother but directly to the child. Otherwise, it's just fucking bullshit..

Dude, that's not the way to counter feminism nor to piss feminists off. The right way to do it, is by showing them how "patriarchy" does not exist.

Good video, but I think there is a point GWW didn't address. Those muslim women who are entitled by law to a part of her husband's income, still has obligations, such as taking care of the children and domestic tasks. I would suspect that what islam truly says is that a woman is indeed allowed to work and entitled to the full product income of her labor (income), without obligation to share it with family, only if she is fulfilling her obligation to work as a child caretaker and rearer (a work t…

uhhhh, most of that is actually what i do as self protection. however, i like how she says "inviting a woman to your place is an invitation to physical violence". She had to twist it a little bit because "inviting a woman to your place is an invitation to rape" didn't serve her purposes quite well. By the way I like how she conflates physical violence with sex. That woman has issues.

well, since justice system doesn't seem to care about victims of these false allegations, I believe it is imperative for all men who have gone through this kind of ordeal to PURSUE LEGAL ACTION. Too many times I have heard men saying things like "I just want to move on", "it's not worth the hassle", etc. But guess what, IT IS worth the hassle. VICTIMS DO NEED TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THESE CRIMINALS.

There seems to have been violent confrontation before the murder. However it is ridiculous to say that self defense is the only option. Hell, even thinking that most likely scenario here is self defense is already a highly biased point of view.

I think for instance of Seung hui cho, the author of virginia tech massacre. A social outcast, without friends, probably without a mentor, probably bullied as a kid and as a college student. How does the lack of interest for boys and young men issues have something to do with this? How many other guys are in the same position of that kid. What could be expected from that?

how is sweden uber feminist? I disagree with their ruling on prostitution, but in general, men up there are much less sexually frustrated than, say, men in the US. And if I was a feminist, the argument, while not being at academic level, has sound logic and haven't yet been refuted by none.
