Good job sir. I agree with you that your family should have just as much respect for you if not MORE than a non famity member. Just keep your frame and tell them politely how you feel they're treating you (like you did with your mom). If they don't respect that then fuck em. I know it's a bit harsh but as long as you don't lose your cool they'll more than likely come back eventually and apologize. It's happen to me with friends and family several times.

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle is a great book to learn about mindfulness and meditation. The author reads it himself (if you listen to it) which is awesome. His voice definitely fits with him being a spiritual teacher (he claims no religion in the book but quotes Jesus and Buddha ). One of my favorite books.
