An infographic is supposed to be a quick and easy way for the reader to digest information. Therein lies the problem. For complex societal issues, there is no quick and easy way to educate oneself. The desire for a TL;DR on every topic is what leads to misinformation, whether done by those with an agenda or otherwise.

The image shouldn't've been edited I agree with that. However, excusing the kind of ridiculous rhetoric contained in this "article" by claiming that some individuals have done or said terrible things is entirely unacceptable. Indicting an entire group of people for the actions of its worst members is never supposed to be okay, but in this instance not only is it okay but it permits this writer to go on a fuck you rampage? Agreed. I've been saying for months now that we need to stop giving clicks to these types of writers. It only encourages them. If you want to point out how ridiculous something is that's fine, but don't send them traffic while you're doing it. It's like paying to see Jack and Jill just so you can make fun of it. They still got your money.

Can we PLEASE start submitting articles like this as images? Websites monitor clicks to gauge popularity of writers and to generate ad-revenue. Let's not inadvertently encourage this drivel while gaping with incredulity at its premise.

I already read all of that, you're simply re-hashing your thought process. I understand why you chose those numbers. I disagree. You used elevator rape and elevator ride avg....both of which require access to an elevator. But then you used world population, when a a significant portion of that population would fall into neither of the former groups. That's my point. I'm willing to bet the "average elevator rides per day" is calculated by people with access to elevators, which I'm sure a large portion of populations of places like Sudan, Gaza, Sierra Leone, etc. do not have. Also, is US really the only place with lotteries? Seems to me, most accurate way would be--if you're going to only use US lottery--that you use avg times an American rides an elevator and the US population.

Honestly, the worst thing about it is that it absolutely adds nothing to the article whatsoever. It wouldn't be better in the grand scheme of things, but I'd understand it more if it was at least pertinent. Instead, it seems to come out of nowhere, add nothing to her discussion, detract from the momentum, and really just doesn't belong in the article at all.
