I feel like the OP is giving bad advice. The frame of only getting to know a girl if you want to fall in love is not healthy and will make you needy and will make you creep her out if you're already thinking about marriage while she barely knows you. I just talk to a girl to see if I like her as a person and then maybe get to know her a bit better.

Exactly. Ive approached a ton of times and my first 30 or so were very awkward. But now Im at the point where I can hold a conversation without creeping the girl out. Approach more.
