It can be. But if your problem with bulking is not being able to eat enough, then it's counter productive. But it's great for a lean bulk.

No you can feel free to do both. Like everything you will get used to it, fruit is great is you can't handle fasted training. OR just time your fast so you can train within your eating period. Simple.

Ever thought about breaking your workouts into Upper/Lower body twice a week, so four workouts. So much better in my opinion for resutls in size and strength (as a strength &conditioning coach)

Yeah man at the end of the day this is damn true and many people try to escape this. However in saying that there are methods which can optimise losing fat for some based on personality and lifestyle. Intermittent fasting is a powerful tool for the latter. Cheers for the comment

Always go back to breathing, listen to your breathing. Inhale really slowly and deep and exhale really strong if you're focusing on that for long enough you won't be thinking at all

Well honestly, once you understand meditation very well you apply it in your day to day life wherever you want, so in turn, the goal is 24/7 meditation if you get what I mean. But having 5-10mins (for busy people especially) is good to keep a baseline and daily reminder of what mindfulness is.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9226731 great study to do with stress reduction and cortisol/testosterone levels. The wider point of the video is basically meditation is such a holistic benefit to one's life. Yes the title is a bit clickbait but as muricanexpat said it benefits one indirectly.

I feel you bro, great comment. Meditation takes us back to 'ground zero' if you will, in a world that is ever changing. Meditation pushes one to a rid themselves of the modern manifestation of constant stress and worry. It is a relief in a world which provokes despair, which lasts more than the 10minutes you do it.

More self-aware. What I mean by that is I am able to understand why I am having thoughts, almost as if I can view them float by my mind rather than manifest myself as them, if that makes sense. I am, in general, more contempt with living with less and due to this have spent less money (meditation allows you to find happiness using only your mind, so there's less need for materialism) Edit: more intense deadlift sessions!! (especially if i meditate before the gym) -serious overall I feel more ali…

At the end of the day, THIS is the TRUTH. Moderation trumps all. Going on the vegan extreme probably isn't the best, going off the idea that everything but vegan is shit is also not a good idea. What is a good idea is: having a well balanced diet and living a healthy stress-free life is going to have your demise come down to not modifiable factors which are your genetics. The rest can be dictated by your moral and ethical codes. That's just how I see this issue as a whole. What do you think?

When it comes down to eat we can eat whatever and sustain energy from it, does it mean we should? Not necessarily, but we can and that's the point!

Very interesting. Man the evidence that we are 'herbivores' is there in some ways. I will look into that for my own interest. However overall the point is that vegan diets are not the healthiest, the healthiest diets are in my opinion, well-balanced vegetarian dominated diets with meat occasionally. I eat meat but only if I go out, or if I'm very sore from the gym. Thanks for your comment

Try understand where i'm coning from Take someone who has not one ounce of an ability to be mindful as they are constantly distracted (tv, etc) for one to understand a mindful meditative state of mind, one must take time to focus on understanding what the feeling entails, what it means to be present and by solely meditating ( as a beginner) in the morning as an example they can apply it to the rest of the day and start to meditate wherever they are as they understand how it works. Not necessarily. What is somebody is eating so little and they are plateauing, so if they decrease it any further they would be hungry 24/7 and possibly gain weight from cortisol increase. Usually, your answer is correct, but not all the time so you have to understand that hormones and length of diet come into play for some circumstances. Thanks for your comment. Philip

Intermittent Fasting is great. In all honesty I don't believe it is for everyone it can be challenging. It should be noted that intermittent fasting works well, BUT if you have no taken care of your calories/macronutrients/micronutrients then meal timing has no place to be changed up. Great comment - I also agree that counting your calories weekly is great, as weight loss is subjective to your overall deficit per week rather than daily perfection in counting. Philip

Hell To The YES! Skull Crushers are great for triceps. But they're also great for tendinitis if you like that. Hint: Stay away. Do dips and close grip bench, even landmine presses. WAY better for mass and your elbows. Great comment.

I actually have the same thing, It used to be a lot worse. I presume what fixed it was working with a 2:10 ratio of pulling to pushing movements. For sure try this and stretch your chest every morning. Get back to me in 3-4 weeks if nothing has changed.

Yo Jude The Dude ;) Weighted Dips. Hmm. They are a incredible movement for mass and strength. Remember to make sure your form is perfect before adding weight. Remember to master the dips with perfect form with your own bodyweight before moving to weighted dips. The reason I'm emphasising form so much is that it's vital for such a movement, the shoulders are put in a position which is rather unnatural so it's important. I myself only do weighted dips with a closer grip for triceps.

I see what you're saying, I really do. Iam introspective, more than I wish I was. The thing is, the introspective types can get so introspedctive to the point where it is hard to climb out of it, you see what i'm saying? If your comment was coming from a place of love you would add some type of value rather than critising with no backbone in your critique. Cheers, Philip

Deadlifts are really taking on your nervous system. They fry you. The movement takes so much energy, so for the best benefit for your BACK, it logically makes more sense to pick a movement that recruits the same muscles but does not have the full range of motion from the floor which fatigues your body. Not saying to never do deadlifts, just remember this article is for back development. Philip
/r/TheRedPill24/09/16 02:42 AM

Your posture may be down to chest tightness, really stretch your pectoral muscles frequently, have a ratio of 2:1 to pull vs push exercises. Include back extensions and reverse hyper extensions too.

No problem mate, always happy to help. I wrote this on the day I decided to go with what I love. "Everyone associates the path to success with hard work, dedication and sometimes, a little bit of luck. But the secret to success isn’t luck, and it isn’t hard work or dedication. According to best-selling author and dynamic lecturer, Seth Godin, the true secret to success is quitting." According To Godin. “Most of the time, we deal with the obstacles by persevering. Yes Yes Yes, completely agree with your point on having the fundamental powerlifting movements. But you must understand this article is specifically for the back, so the squat has no place in the argument. Cheers, Philip If we are talking about the best exercise of all time. SQUATS ARE KING. If you disagree, please let me know, because I'd be happy to ramble ;)

If you're not going for size and you're prioritising functionality then the pull up is calling your name. Believe me. You can have your opinion but I think before you can have yours as valid you must try the opposing one. Try implement pull ups into your routine and see how you feel after a few weeks progressing on them. My guess is you will feel more functional Deadlifts are incredible too. Cheers, -Philip

I was going to give a reply but it is very similar to yours. GREAT advice. Meditation and active meditations such as yoga are profound ways of improving your posture. Also, you may have kyphosis so look up some stretches and workouts which help to cure kyphosis. Generally, we as men because of bench press and our sedentary lifestyles have extremely tight pectoral muscles and because of this it brings our shoulders forward rounding them You must work on your upper back strength, especially the re…

Great thought Mckallidon. This is a great exercise, but to be a fundamental one? I disagree. It can be ideal as a dynamic warm up but for building solid base, bass strength and functionality, I think they don't deserve that rank.. Cheers for the comment though. Philip
/r/TheRedPill23/09/16 11:31 PM

If you are performing rack pulls from below the knee your spinal erector is working JUST as hard, from the bottom your leg driving is what creates momentum. Because you are lifting heavier too there is little to no loss in the gains you will gain in terms of erector strength. Thanks for your comment. Philip
/r/TheRedPill23/09/16 11:30 PM
2

The best way you can work towards performing pull ups is to mimic them as close as possible. To do so, if you're at a gym they most likely have bands. Take these bands and use them on the pull-up bar to help you up. I have a fitness youtube page and facebook. If you go on there. I'd be more than happy to make a video responding to you! explaining how to progress towards your first proper pull-up. Philip

Cheers mate, I do appreciate that. Remember to start light as your hips are still involved somewhat. As another person who replied on here said rack pulls are easy to turn into an ego lift as you are capable of lifting heavy weight. Pace yourself and progress slowly, but trust me you'll love them. Have a great day sir. Philip

Ah, Of course, now I get what you're saying. And I think based on my final response we're going to both agree. As I never said to Not include deadlifts at all. When training legs, for example, stiff leg deadlifts, and standard are great, but the article really was geared more towards back itself and thus naturally more experienced lifters would gravitate towards muscle group specific tips. In all my clients that I train I always start with the basics, deadlift, overhead press, squats etc and wil…
/r/TheRedPill23/09/16 01:04 PM

I get it. Build a strong base, then focus on size. But how can you discredit rack pulls. They are from a logical standpoint superior to deadlifts for back development. You are able to overload the bar with so much more weight and hit the exact same muscles and for more volume because of the lack of effect on the nervous system from a full range of motion the deadlift entails. I hope you see where I'm coming from, but if you still disagree i'd love to hear why. I'm always open to changing my thou…

I see where you are coming from Orange Juice 007 (love that name). But I guess where my opinion is coming from is based on two variables. (1) My clients that I have trained have responded best to these lifts. (2) These are movements which are extremely natural and primal. The same can be said about the bent over row, so your point is valid. So one can agree to disagree about which specific exercise is better, but what I hope that anybody with knowledge about kinesthesiology can agree on is that …

For sure. Of course having a few more can be beneficial. But especially when starting out I've found my clients always do best choosing 1-3 exercises and then just getting really fucking good at them. In saying that for back development, if I had to choose two they would be the pull up and below the knee rack pull. Cheers for the comment. Do you prefer barbell/dumbells or t bar and why? Philip
