I’ve noticed this too. Like <1% of the time it’s being discussed in a nuanced, objective light. The rest of the times I see it discussed is by feminists/progressives complaining about it being discussed. It’s so ironic.

It always baffles me how internet feminists will complain about men lacking sympathy for them but will then post shit like that. Like do they think posts like this are doing anything helpful for men? I don’t get it.

Definitely. Im autistic as well. I have always struggled socially. Years of social isolation due to my inability to socialize with my peers properly a combined with my parents taking me out of school during my elementary years due to poor academic performance and then homeschooling me until I was a sophomore in high school made me very susceptible to RP/BP nonsense. I was internalizing those beliefs before they became mainstream. You could say I was in the “quasi-red pill” community. I became co…

I think different things can be true at the same time. Hookup culture is a real thing and definitely exists. Does that mean that everyone wants to/can participate in it? Definitely not. There definitely seems to be a growing loneliness epidemic that is caused by various factors. So yes, consequentially, younger people may be more sexless today relative to previously.

Women don’t “love” Tate, much the opposite. Also, I bet money that those women in his videos are paid actresses.

I second this. So many people’s dating problems could easily be solved with just a little self-respect as well as the willingness to cut out those from their life that need to be cut out.

Cheating is one of the VERY few things that should lead to a non-negotiable breakup. Gender is irrelevant.

Physical standards warped by social media to u realistically high bars. Hell I’d argue that there are a lot more than just physical standards being warped by social media. Standards of every category are being warped, even ones pertaining to personality. One of the more prevalent and recent examples of this is the rise of the “ick” trend in which women lose interest in a man they were otherwise “attracted” to over the drop of a hat. Modern dating is just wack. As a fellow 22-year-old male myself…

Yeah this sub has kind of backfired. It seems like it was intended to be a place where people of different genders discuss modern dating issues in a constructive matter to help alleviate conflict, only to become another battleground.

Exactly this! Rather than viewing inceldom as something that is induced by a storm of circumstances that often are not the fault of individual incels, feminists seem to view it as a form of purgatory in which certain men are punished for having misogynistic/entitled viewpoints regarding women. Of course, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Interestingly enough, there are men who despite having those same personality traits stereotypically associated with incels, DO in fact get laid due to c…

Man here. It depends on what we’re defining “sex work” to be. If I were a woman, I wouldn’t want to be a prostitute. Though (assuming I’m marginally attractive) I most definitely would set up an OnlyFans if that counts. Getting some money without the risks of sex and from the comfort of my own home is an absolute win.

This is pretty accurate. Admittedly, I DO in fact hold insecurities (who doesn’t to some extent) and might feel like I have to compete with the sexual prowess of many men a woman slept with before me. But what I’m even more concerned with and what inflicts my instinctual aversion to high n-count women is the risk of STD’s they potentially carry. Same goes for men too actually. Men should be able to look out for their health and avoid potential hazards such as the aforementioned and not face judg…

I think one way to counter the “the MRM was a reactionary counter to the feminist movement” point is to inform them that Ernest Belford Bax, one of the pioneers of the MRM movement was a socialist. While there are leftists that can exhibit reactionary tendencies, socialists are often an enemy of actual reactionaries. Reactionaries tend to favor an existent social order that socialists are highly critical of, capitalism. Much of men’s issues throughout history are inflicted by capitalism and befo…

r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates is the best imo. It tackles men’s issues from a non/anti-reactionary lens unlike r/MensRights and doesn’t require you to uncritically pander to contemporary feminist ideology like r/Menslib does.

Do you live in a state that still permits abortion rights? If that’s the case, then it’s business as usual in the dating scene.

Been there. I don’t know if this changes anything, but it’s really a human thing. No matter how much of a “women/men bad” kind of narrative RP, BP, FDS, etc try to spin it, humans in general often act merely out of self-interest. The cheating rates between men and women are pretty equal. I’m willing to bet that if you were dating men, you might come across some that are just as vile and selfish as the women you’ve experienced.

Most men don’t want “super attractive model-tier women”. If that was the requirement for most men, a lot more of us would be incels. We can’t afford to be that selective like many women can, and a lot of us don’t really care to be. If anything, the lot of us have basic requirements such as “don’t be fat”. If that’s an “unrealistic” standard, then idk what to say.

I don’t really engage in casual sex so not that it really matters for me. It depends on the state you live in. If you live in a red state, that might change some things. If you live in a blue state, business as usual most likely.

I’d highly suggest looking for a job you might enjoy if you haven’t already. Others already said this here but I can’t stress enough how much better community college and trade school is. They’re less expensive than your average university and tend to focus on more practical skills. It’s basically the Pareto Principle applied to dating. It can have some degree of legitimacy but RP and BP kind of took off with it like a rocket. It has been greatly exaggerated. I could be mistaken and I don’t have a particular source but I believe the 80/20 ratio originated from one of those online dating stats. It was something like “80% of women rated only 20% of men as ‘above average’ in attractiveness” or something like that. I apologize if I butchered the original statistic. I can’t reme…

You just grow numb to it as happens to you more often. The best thing you can do is hold an abundance mindset and not let singular rejections get to your head much.

This is just the cold hard truth. There is no equity when it comes to dating. It is a chaotic, complex, disorientating market of competition. It is really just evolution. People with desirable attributes get to pass on their genes while those with lesser desirable attributes lag behind and even die off in some cases. It’s not rigged, it’s natural selection working the way it’s supposed to. The key to success in dating is hard work and compromising for those who lost the genetic lottery.

They’re all exaggerations and oversimplifications but AWALT takes the cake. There is some truth in hypergamy and 80/20 but not in the same way that RP presents them.

Redpill is largely concerned with short-term dating, hookups, casual sex, etc. It does not go well with long-term dating or marriage age at all, which is why it’s so absurd when applied to the two.

It was never really about self-improvement for me. That is very universal. It’s just that the rules of dating have changed so much recently and now they have a lot of inconsistencies. Men have been discouraged from approaching women the traditional ways but at the same time, we’re still expected to fulfill much of our core traditional roles such as being the pursuer. It’s all very confusing, especially being an autistic guy in his early twenties. These RP gurus are the only ones who have been ab…

It feeds on the insecurities and grievances of guys like your friend and they develop a codependent relationship with the ideology. It serves them the way a drug like heroine or meth does. As a man, I certainly understand your insecurities regarding your genitalia. I think a lot of men have at some point felt insecure about theirs. In no way does this make you in particular inadequate or undesirable or anything, but from an economics perspective, the “dick is abundant and low-value” does have some truth to it. Due to both cultural norms and having higher libidos, men do a vast majority of the pursuing in the sex and dating market. Women tend to get bombarded by these advances, lik…

I’m still fighting off redpill thought so I don’t know if I’m totally ex-RP yet but the idea RP promotes constantly that women love men for things they provide rather than men themselves has taken a tremendous toll on my dating life. I simply do not think they have the self-awareness to realize the connections between FDS and redpill. If it makes you feel any better, there aren’t as many FDS users who post here as there used to be. By how you describe your situation, it sounds like much of your perceptions of your attractiveness arise from your own internal insecurities, something just about everyone has. Also, if you’ve never asked any women out how would you even know how attractive you are to them? There’s no real easy way to go about dating. Improving at it requires a whole bunch of trial-and-error to learn who likes what. There’s no clean strategy, I’m not going to sugarcoat that. Your height certainly isn’t a problem…

Do RP’ers exaggerate things and go overboard? A bit. Are some RP claims reflected in real life? Certainly. Lookism, hypergamy, 80/20, etc have objective relevance even though RP exaggerates them or takes them out of context. Does RP work as a dating strategy? Depending on the women you’re trying to use it on, it can. Personally, I wouldn’t want to be with a woman that’s gullible enough to fall for the cheap RP/PUA tricks. The concept of self improvement is making your own self happy. I think you’re trying too hard to validate yourself based on trivial things like your body count. Find a way to become happy and comfortable in yourself that doesn’t involve validation from others. I think if you can deconstruct the idea that your validity is tied to your sex life, you might become much happier. Self improvement can’t directly guarantee you sex with women, but it can make you more comfortable with yourself…which will…

I believe this is how many relationships are in general. Friends, romantic relationships, heck even family sometimes. People enjoy each other for what they can provide because humans are built to be motivated by self-interest to a large degree. Kind of both. I have never had the best luck with women and the few relationships I was in I feel like I just got lucky. But when I found out about the RP stuff, it presented itself as some kind of world of enlightenment, which I thought was appealing. When we say women will get it from “someone else”, we aren’t exclusively talking about them getting that from cheating. Could be something as simple as ending a relationship properly too.

Although I’m not Redpill and am actually against it, I 100% agree with this. With the exception of women who are practically asexual, women indeed enjoy sex. Either give them pleasure or they’ll find it from someone else. As a man, you gotta either learn and get with the program or lag behind.

I especially feel this as an autistic man who is unable to read social cues as well as others. I would think that since we live in a society with so much dialogue used, people would be more willing to use their words in the dating world but I’ve realized it doesn’t quite work like that. I think that we can certainly afford to make it methodical. Yeah this is wrong. FDS also encourages women to feel entitled…entitled to being provided to by men. I would also like to challenge your claim that FDS actively “protects” women against patriarchal norms because very time I scroll there, I see a shit ton of support for gender norms that many feminists would deem “patriarchal”. Members of FDS want to keep the traditional order where men fulfill the role of the provider to women. It’s to the point where they view men who live in poverty as “LVM”. …

I’m generally very cynical, especially when it comes to relationships. Here’s my two cents, there’s no such thing as love as an unconditional love, and people are usually loved based on the feelings they evoke in others. One of the few exceptions is maybe parental-child relationships but there’s so fucking many abusive parents that even those are questionable as to how “unconditional” they naturally are. Most definitely is lack of social skills. Mental disorders/illnesses by no means predispose a man to lack of romantic success or RP/BP thought but they can play a significant role as well. The “bad boy vs. the nice guy” is a bit of a false dichotomy. The stereotype is that women fall for the “bad boy” because he has traits that make him more exciting but a guy can 100% be both. He can be exciting, confident, good in bed etc while also having genuine respect.

Honestly, as depressing and defeatist as this sounds, I personally assume that there’s a possibility almost anyone I talk to could at some point ghost me out of nowhere, it incentivizes me to lower my expectations and not get my hopes so dangerously high. I also simply have just become desensitized to it because honestly, it happens to me all the time lol

Yes. Minor differences are okay but as someone with pretty left-leaning views, it would be a NIGHTMARE to be with someone on the right. It’s not about a petty game of ideology, it’s about how they view and treat other people.

I love the concept of intersectionality, I just hate how it’s been abused and appropriated by the “woke” crowd to push counterproductive, essentialist, tribalistic identity politics.

I’m a bit late to this thread but yeah I really hate that sub too. On one hand I scoff at feminists who seem convinced that MRA’s are just a bunch of tradcon “patriarchy upholders” but then I scroll through some posts on that sub and can see why they might unironically arrive at that conclusion. Mainstream men’s activism is very co-opted with conservatism and it frustrates me to the bone.

It seems to exist in good faith. A lot of the posts are just men seeking advice or venting about mental health issues. I see no malice there.

Just my theory: Traditional views and perceptions of love and relationships are declining and breaking and have been for quite some time. Younger generations don’t know how to navigate these changes necessarily so defeatist ideologies like MGTOW seem more attractive because it’s easier to exempt yourself from the work of trying to figure out how to form relationships in a society undergoing constant change.

In theory, I second this. It would level the playing field a lot. Only one issue: Men can’t go out and fuck tons of women in the same way the women can. I don’t even think the conventionally attractive men are capable of this. Even the average-ish women absolutely excel at it too.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
