I've said this recently above, but I took a massive pay cut to work at a nonprofit institution (science, ironically) because I passionately believe in their vision and mission for the future. I took a big pay cut to work for a nonprofit because I passionately believe in their mission. My girlfriend and I live together, and we share costs and manage everything comfortably. I work as a writer, and I could probably be making twice as much money working for an advertising agency tomorrow. Kant was an arbitrary choice and a starting point, most ethical systems tend to arrive at roughly the same conclusion, namely, that you ought to treat other people in the way you yourself would want to be treated. Kant was a cherry-picked example. Lots of ethical systems will get us to the same common-sense morality: treat others as you'd like yourself to be treated. Admittedly I Came from the world of feminism, and I have come to the conclusion that I had some bad misconceptions about this community. Give me time, I'm learning. A little joke, forgive me. I agree that accuracy and the truth are the chief aim of science and always must be. But there are nagging moral questions that confront us all just because we all must share this planet and none of us is any more entitled than anyone else to its spoils (in my view). I've never had any of these bad things happen to me. Maybe I'm just lucky... My own subjective experience is all I'm going off of. There does seem to be a very large community of men here with a host of shared, negative experiences... Again, this is my first post here, I'm still getting the lay of the land. Yes, I've got to admit that I went off half cocked and was imprecise in how I said that, it's been a common criticism of this post and rightfully so. There's nothing wrong with sleeping with a lot of women through consensual interactions. Yes, it's become clear to me that this was expressed imprecisely and has caused some confusion. What I should have made explicit is that there is some form of coersion/deception/harm involved in the way you're relating to the women you're sleeping with. In my view Willis, it is a waste of life to do anything BUT try to change the world into what it "ought to be". I don't see a reason for being here? Leaving this world in better shape than I found it, more as it "ought to be", is my only goal. Everything else is just spending time, and I don't see why I wouldn't just kill myself now.
