I'm with ya on this, but am too scared to actually get an escort,... so two things: are you terrified of getting stds? are you terrified of the law? the whole my mugshot in the local newspaper thing would not be good for business Are these valid concerns?

I made many poor choices. One of them was, as soon as she signed the agreement, I decided to refinance my gigantic house in the burbs thinking i was going to continue to live in it and get her name off it as soon as humanly possible. I did that, then, I put 10k in renovations. Then 4 months later, I realized I was paying 12k a year in taxes and living in a house a family would require; not a single guy. I ended up selling it for what I payed for it. If you tally up the swing in this scenario its…

Be mysterious. Answer questions with a question, a misdirection, or an outrageously wrong but funny answer. Here is a video if you are lost on this technique (and need a laugh) youtube.com/watch?v=YOUg956XHpY

You are a unicorn to divorced women. This is the only thing that gives me any hope at all.

You have to keep in mind that men and woman are wired completely different, its a fact of life. Generalizing here, but I think a woman response will be more emotional, more grounded, make you feel emotionally well, and I think a mans response will be more empirical, confrontational, and tactical. I personally think as recent divorcee, I don't want to hear any more female opinions for a while. I feel like a male could evoke more in me right now than a woman could. That my two cents. Oh and which …

Average divorce takes a year. Mine took ~11 months. There are a variety of factors that go into the cost; 1) are you going to hire a great attorney or a decent attorney, 2) How much you pay your attorney depends on his rate and how much work he has to do. If he has to go to court twenty times, your in deep shit. So the more contentious, the more trips to court, the more $. This is a another reason to treat her with some respect even when you don't want to. If she wants to make your life hell, sh…

My ex-wife submitted a request for temporary maintenance because "He eats most of the food I buy for the house". Direct quote. My lawyer said the office had a belly laugh at the coffee pot when that rolled in. That didn't make me feel better, but when it got denied it did.

This statement makes me cringe but: if you can prove that you have been solely paying the mortgage, and you can trace your down payment back to previous holdings; you could be okay. 1/2 of that 350 is on the line so 175, less what she has contributed to her stuff. Your on the hook for a lot. But you make a lot. I'm 3 months out since writing my ex a big check, and I am fine. You will be fine first paycheck. Stay strong and remember your paying for freedom. Your buying something. And you will be …

Advice 1: she will never, ever see your perspective. She could have murdered your puppy and that's the reason you broke it off; she will never, ever, ever relate to your reasoning or logic. So forget that. Its not in peoples nature to face their own condemnation; if you don't believe me, go follow OJ Simpson on twitter. Advice 2: Do not drink in the home. Its just to easy to lose your cool. Advice 3: you better dig in, because your likely to be in the house with her twice as long as you think (c…

Go directly to an attorneys office, file the papers, and get out of there man. Paying child support is not terrible for you, how your living is terrible for you. I just went through 9 month divorce and it sucked, but the financials should be the last thing you worry about. Its simply the cost of doing business and unfortunately, your up and you gotta pay the piper. Dont worry about the money, worry about your self and your son and get out. I can say this, in NY, if you make less, you get a bette…

I just finished my divorce in NY. Here is my experience: a) no shared custody of pets like those avocado eaters who elected the terminator as Governator. b) equitable distribution state, unlike our surfboard riding friends - meaning, everything is not unconditionally 50/50 or shared. c) Whom ever is making more money, gets the short end of the stick and has to pay alimony + other short end of the stick related stuff. d) I filed in NY on February 14th (someone had a good laugh down at the clerks …

I wonder if it is not in a woman nature to appreciate a man at all. I feel like I could do every house hold chore, I could be affectionate, I could make a million dollars a year; It would still always be "you forgot garbage bags at the grocery store" or "oh, your fixing the hole in the wall, should have been done 3 months ago when I asked". My ex thinks that mowing the lawn and snow blowing don't count as chores because I like doing them. I don't get it man.

My brother and I both think those buddies are complete dinks for being like that, like the "white knight". I think the majority of the posters on here feel the same way! But maybe I personally need to take a card from their deck a little though next time around, because they aren't crying into there keyboards on Reddit, their wives aren't moving out, they aren't starting over at 40, they aren't handing over a pile of cash, they aren't ect. BTW Thanks a lot for excellent feedback. Loved USAF post…

I divorced my spouse and she did not really see it coming. I felt like something was wrong from day one of our marriage. I couldn't plan with her, I couldn't compromise with her, she didn't like spending time with me, she would ruin our vacations, she told me to "go fuck myself" all the time. Accused me of being cheap, called me lazy, called out all my personal problems all the time, she texted my mother multiple times that i was a piece of shit.... Yet she thought all was well and this was norm…

Yes, no kids thankfully. I appreciate the advice. Your lucky to be a fireman, I work from home doing computer stuff. Imagine being on calls with your boss or in a meeting with thirty people and your ex is in the house angry and huffing and puffing? It’s horrifying frankly. I’m trying to keep emotion down but it’s tough and wives have a way of getting at you where it counts. How long did your divorce take? Or how long until she was out? I guess I really just care about getting her out, the rest i…

That's really good advice, I can't thank you enough. I just emailed my attorney proposing what you described. Thanks a lot!
