1	On Confidence I think I good idea to understand how you friend thinks is presenting him with one or more theoretical decisions about something you already decided. If he answers something different than what you did, present him with the reasons you didn't choose the path as him and let him explain his reasons to pick this choice even with the problems you presented. Had you accepted her story, it could easily means to her that hiding things from you is not a problem and she could easily hamster this and begin lying to you over and over.
