Most people aren't financially savvy I know. And that's embarassing to me. Feel free to ask your partner for a prenup. See how it goes. I already did. It was signed a few months ago.

I think people that arent financially savvy would tend to see it as a form of mistrust. It's really there to protect both parties from financial ruin. It's similar to using contraceptive measures to prevent an unwanted pregnancy - a prenuptial can prevent unwanted financial ruin.

Choosing a spouse purely on the basis of having a good romantic partner can (and often does) result in a nasty divorce regardless. Well said.

Spite. Why else do people drag out the divorce and ruin their ex-partners financial standing other than pure, unadulterated spite? The lawyers facilitate it. The courts reinforce it. It's just a vicious cycle.

Its less I'm missing the point intentionally and more you're trying to skew the OP to fit your narrative. OP clearly stats that saying "my wife" is sexist because it implies property over the "wife" and further entrenches the 'patriarchy'. But, your scenario is completely different because it takes a very niche social interaction and assumes it's sexist versus the OP that blankets all interactions as sexist. In your scenario, "This is Jim's wife, Linda" or "This is my wife, Linda" isnt sexist. I…

I'm still waiting for you to tell me the non-sexist way of conveying your legally sanctioned relationship status with someone of the opposite (or same) sex. Emphasis on legally sanctioned.

I'd actually be all for a subcategory of the Special Olympics being dedicated to trans people. It would pit trans against trans and it could be heralded as a major win for that community.

She might not have had full executive power over picking directors but she certainly had the power to cease supporting the patriarchy that she so strongly vilifies. No one held a gun to her head and made her support these male-driven projects. I'm assuming she will argue that the ends justify the means but doesnt that just kind of scream hypocrisy and white moderate/limousine liberal status? Because, all this conformity really does is mold her production company into another one of the hundreds …

Little Woman was nominated for Best Picture 2020 so the film was given it's spotlight

maybe not jump straight to flaming all feminists and try to at least pretend that you are capable of open-mindedness. This is hilariously ironic given that I've simply asked a question and you've made it your prerogative to paint me as close-minded for asking said question. You've actually become that which you fear most. Further, "Little Woman" was nominated for Best Picture in the 2020 Oscsar pool so I'm unsure as to why that was included on her woke cape.

Yes, I understand that but the tweet is pointing out the hypocrisy of her fashion statement primarily because Portman has had the opportunity to effect change yet she hasn't. And, by that, they are pointing to the nuance of this rather than the surface level dichotomy you've presented here. The implication of your argument (or statement) is that those female directors are not worthy of being awarded Portman production money because... they dont fit the bill? This essentially says that the male d…
