I think these things are quick to catch up on as long as you otherwise had good social skills. But if you couldn't talk to even guys and make friends quickly then it will be much harder. Before I came here I thought they wouldn't even want to talk to me, but I found out that that's absolutely not the case. Finland is not Scandinavia FYI. Scandinavia is Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Nordic countries are those three plus Finland, and Iceland.

I am from India but I live in Sweden so I can provide some perspective. Almost all young Swedes I have spoken to, they have been to NYC or Florida, it seems like a rite of passage. There are some who despise American culture but there is also a sizable chunk who is fascinated by America. In general more materialistic your personality is, the more fascinating you will find America and Americans. Americans can certainly have a good time in Sweden because their cultural export has done its trick.
