As I said I know it's not mandatory at all. I mean, I often read that establishing eye contact is great to start the conversation, and I understand why, it creates some kind of link, which makes it easier to talk. I already got great eye contact exchanges but that's super rare. And most of the time I don't get this exchange at all. If that's actually common then that's good for me, but I need the confirmation that it's all ok.

I'm sorry I didn't get everything you said but yes, it's the same conversation skills with the random grandma waiting at a bus stop. Except that you develop it a little and you stop having bad thoughts about it when specifically talking with an interesting girl. And also the said skill... I lack it. Because I never do it and am never interested in it. Even though I'm happy when people talk to me generally because it doesn't happen that much.

There's not a lot of groups for that. I tried with badminton recently. Well it wasn't effective at all. I will try with the groups from uni next year but I'm not even sure I will be able to join one since uni may not allow it. The other options are too political and I don't want to get involved in this for now, I even got some informations about the only uni "right-wing" group and well, it was mainly uninteresting for meeting people given the activities they offer.
