I understand where you're coming from. I've known my husband since I was 20 yrs old and consider him my best friend as well as partner in life. I could never leave him over a tough year. Tough years have actually come and gone for both of us. Since socializing is a part of my job, I'm in these situations that keep my blade sharp whether I want it to be or not. I don't think I initiate the flirting since I don't approach these guys or throw compliments their way. However, by continuing the conver…

So your ex wife didn't tell you when she was going out and you had to catch her? It sounds like she was keeping that part of her life from you for a reason. My husband knows about the work events I attend, so there's no mystery there. I'm not going out to bars without him socially btw. I should have clarified that this comes with my job and I can't stand in a corner being antisocial. I totally understand why you consider what she did emotional cheating though.

Lol my thoughts exactly. My job is to socialize so I can't shut down every guy that flirts with me. Regardless of his intentions I know my boundaries and will never cross a line.

Nope, just telling the truth. I think if a guy is flirting with me and I don't stop it or continue to listen I'm a part of it too. Maybe our definitions of flirting are different?

Lots of assumptions there my friend, and there's nothing I like more than a lively discussion regardless of gender. I didn't clarify that this happens at work events in my first comment, so thought it made sense to do so. My mom and both grandmas didn't have the same job I do either. I don't go out to bars or clubs without my husband, so the only real opportunity for this to happen is at work. I have seen plenty of coworkers hook up in the industry I work in, and I've always managed to not becom…

So if I'm approached by men at work events it's wrong to talk to them? It's my fault I get compliments? If I was seeking attention by wearing inappropriate clothing or walking up to these guys I totally get what you're saying. I am literally there with other work colleagues and mingling just like everyone else. Because this is a part of my job sometimes it's difficult to shut someone down. That was the reason I initially posted a question here. I think it's nice to be liked, but I don't initiate…

Well I guess it's a good thing he doesn't get as angry as you do lol! Life is too short to carry that around. The events I go to where this happens are work related, so I know most of these people. I think it's a little different than meeting randoms in a bar or club. Take it easy pal.

I guess it's a good thing that he doesn't mind. Trust goes a long way, especially after being married almost 10 yrs. To be specific, I'm not initiating any of the flirting and let these guys know I'm married. I only offer a friendly ear, and that's all I ever will.

Haven't gotten burnt yet lol. I think it's more my reaction to the attention that you're commenting on since I don't initiate any of it.

Lol depends on the person. If you treat it as a game that's all it will ever be. I never take flirting seriously especially since I'm offering a friendly ear and not much else.

Totally agree with your post. I'm a married 37/F and get hit on by single and married men all the time. Regarding the married ones, since we're both married we know the flirty convo is going nowhere, but is boosting both our egos. I don't see a problem with this especially if rings are on. Single guys should consider it practice and enjoy it like you suggested. Flirting is an art.

These coworkers of yours married the wrong women. I'm a woman, married for 9 years and have heard these stories from coworkers time and time again. I don't have kids, so that is probably why money hasn't been an issue since we both work. We do have separate bank accounts, but split the bills. We don't ask each other's permission to buy anything primary because we trust each other's judgment. Either these coworkers of yours overlooked a few things early on or their wives true colors didn't come o…
