I kept the house in the divorce, 2.8% interest. I was only able to keep it because of assumption. It was a VA loan so I was lucky. It was tricky figuring out and getting right the release of liability from the VA and getting a quit claim deed. I think it cost me $13 to file with the county. I'm an expert with quit claims now, recently did one to move the deed into a revocable trust to further ensure the ex can't touch it in the event of my demise.

When I decided to divorce my ex, I was worried about how I was going to pay for everything. I have a good paying job and hers was decent. I was the one who was responsible for the finances but didn't ever look at the expenses of each individual. When I finally did that, I realized her entire salary was spent on herself and even after spousal support I was going to break even. It was eye opening.

Competent enough to teach your children, but not competent enough to stand trial for her own actions. Let that sink in a minute

I stated on another thread, I'm one of the lucky 1-2% with long term pain (three months post op and still have pain). Plan is to wait 2 months to see if it clears on its own, otherwise, probably resnip to get rid of blockage and scar tissue to see if that helps. Imagine having to decide over satisfying your natural sexual urges over the significant pain that happens after... I personally think the 1-2% is low and am always amazed at how little information there is about long term post vasectomy …

I have one, got it after divorce. I'm unfortunately in the 1-2% that have prolonged pain and discomfort. Still don't regret it, but certainly hoping the pain goes away on its own vs. having to get resnipped.

SFO airport for example. Women restrooms and all gender restrooms, no male. I could only shake my head.

Commenting in regards to the validity of the survey, I think there is potential for there to be bias in the results. I would argue that the responses of "husband" may skew high because most of the regulars here took control of their divorce in one way or another. Actively lurking in this sub gave me the motivation to "own" my divorce. A different way of saying this: if you posted this survey on a particular sub that is about men's rights or general divorce, I imagine you would get vastly differe…

My main input would be that the military is not child friendly. The work hours often will not fit into typical daycare operating hours. Who is watching the kids after she moved across the country with what I would imagine is zero family support? Same with Texas? A lot of times on post daycares have wait lists and since she is TDY she probably can't even get on the list. My initial thought was she found someone in the military, but that doesn't play either as they wouldn't of been assigned togeth…

Even if you don't divorce her before she joins, that doesn't alleviate her from needing to prove that her child can be taken care of if on an exercise or deployment. Everyone with kids not in a marriage and has some sort of custody need what is called a family care plan. You have so long to put a family care plan in place before Uncle Sam starts processing you for discharge.

Would need to see this in a visual to understand, however one important note is that in many cases child support is calculated by number of overnights. So even if you end up with the kids more during waking hours, but she gets the overnights, you could end up paying more in support. Just something to keep in mind while determining your schedule.

I see you're finding out the joys of the unfairness of being the higher wage earner. Like why are assets split 50/50 when the higher earner paid a higher percentage to purchase them while at the same time child support is calculated with gross income in mind. Just wait until you find out that your child support will go up when your alimony ends. Anyway, be pissed about it for the night, then wake up and realize you'll be better off in the long run.

Your second to last sentence is wrong. The sooner you divorce the sooner you make a better life for yourself. Her happiness is not your responsibility.

Put in the custody agreement no significant other for 1 year after the divorce is final AND 1 year after dating starts. ie. Morality clause. That way if they don't start dating until 2 years after the divorce is final, they have another year after that until they can be introduced to the kids

"Spousal Maintenance" is the biggest slap in the face for me in the current on going divorce. Having to pay somewhere around $3k/month for 5 years and 11 months so that she can "maintain her quality of life" as the laws state it. All the while I'll be paying for the kids healthcare, childcare, and most other expenses in full. What about my quality of life? What about her decision to stagnate in her career so she could have a flexible work schedule to maintain an affair? What about her deciding t…

Funny sidebar. I took a look through OPs posts and thought the picture looked familiar. Switched over to a dating app that I'm on and confirmed...bullet dodged. This is a HCOL area, while 1.6MM is a nice house, it's not what one typically thinks 1.6MM gets them. Anyway, sad to see a person living like this, even sadder for anyone that bites the hook.

I read it, had the same outcome as you did. I told the STBX that our marriage probably would of ended a lot sooner if I had read it before I decided to finally walk away on my own. Her response made me smile. Glad to hear you got a lot out of the book like I did.
