Said this before, if you truly believe that you need it and it's what works for you then simply do so. In my experience, it's not nearly as hard as its made out to be. You can be high maintenance and frugal. If you dont see it that way, that's fine. Again, do whatever works for you in your life.

I would say pretty high. My SO's family is quite well off, despite that mine is not - I'm no stranger to wealthy people. I don't want to be rude either, but you truly sound like you're digging for excuses as to why you have failed to find someone you're happy with rather than looking within yourself and the resources around you. Looks like I got a lot of bang for my buck, then. You overestimate what it takes to attract a man physically (men sexually are not hard to please regardless of status). …

Yes, expensive merchandise can be nice. Buying MAC instead of E.L.F isn't significant in the long-run. Also, seems obvious, but the first pic is a professionally shot and airbrushed photo versus camera phone selfies... Stop focusing on what others are and are not spending on. Focus on you. Being a better you than you were yesterday. A you that a man would want to invest in and commit to. I do the above because it's sustainable and enough. You're a good looking woman, it should be enough for you …

Agreed - it's best to get it while it's hot. Yeah, having a perfect healthy diet would run higher. Being in my early 20s, I'm in a similar position now, so I feel it hard sometimes. At a young age it can be manageable with calorie intake and exercise compared to later years or post-pregnancy, and that should be taken advantage of.

Why do you assume they don't understand? Because of what they're attracted to? Ultimately, most of the conversation revolves around self improvement. Will rich people always have a leg up? Yes. That goes for both men and women. If I know that Man #1 had help from his family to make the money he does (wealth, good college, connections, etc.), and that Man #2, a 40 year old working at McD's had a poor upbringing - frankly... that doesn't make me any less attracted to Man #1. Maybe you feel differe…

True. That said, it takes just as much effort for men to be high value as women. Having a good financial jumping start (parents, upbringing) helps them as well, and can also be seen as unfair to others. Most people are aware. Being aware won't change natural attraction. We all have to play the hand we're dealt to the best of our ability.

Celebrities have literal teams of people working to make them look impeccable. It's an industry, and celebs are the final result of a lot of behind-the-scenes work. If you take care of the basics: Healthy diet Hygiene Simple makeup (drugstore is fine, no matter what the gurus say) Exercise Neat hair and nails Well-fitted, feminine clothes (again, don't have to go all out) That can get you to a solid, real-world high SMV. Most of my clothes cost $5-$25 max, and I rarely shop. I do my own hair and…

You don't need to change your whole life around to have red pill values. I'm also a computer science major/programmer, and I've never considered it a threat to my femininity. I'd even consider myself more feminine than almost all of my acquaintes that took up social science degrees - likely in part because those tend to encourage the new wave of social justice, but I won't go too into that. 23 is not the wall by any means. I do have to say, however, that it isn't great to have too little romanti…

I feel behind now. Over two years ago, I met my SO on Tinder. I also dated one other man from there before him that was looking for a LTR. Is Tinder now used exclusively for hookups?

That was a great observation! There is a very complicated phenomenon happening right now. I don't mean to derail this conversation, but do you mind me asking where you're from? I notice this new social conflict happening in many parts of the world, and I'm curious to know where it hasn't spread to yet.

I think she is referring to what is now considered leftism. For example, I consider myself classically liberal, but nowadays that's easily considered conservative in many social circles. The political climate is evolving fast now, so it can be hard to find the right label.

I agree with her in that being married for a long time is more of an accomplishment than getting married. I'm not surprised the Huffington Post, however, is tackling the subject from a feminist perspective. Marriage (particularly in the last couple decades) is about love. Marriage, unlike careers or academia, carries more excitement on the premise that it is based on a unique and strong emotion. Seems reasonable to me that a celebration of love is naturally a more emotional event.

Everyone has skeletons in the their closet. No matter how perfectly they curate their image for the outside world. Of course, some more than others. Still - no one is immune. What I've learned from following a variety of people in these past few years, is that it's entirely possible (and advantageous) to admire aspects of someone and truthfully acknowledge their shortcomings as well. There are even people in the public light who I disagree with 100%, yet still respect, say, their values or inten…

It's true - the advice in this sub can be applied to life as whole. I've felt so much more confident, content, and freer to be myself. I am also careful when talking to people in my age bracket, but I don't feel the need to agree or lie either. It's become easier for me to not feel the need to either show people I agree out of fear, but also not have to make a scene over a disagreement. This place was a good find in 2016.

I agree, I'm sorry I came across that way. It is hard to get over the mental hurdle with my family's (specifically my mother's) desires for me to have children. She was an immigrant and her mother died before being able to come here with her. She laments the fact that she couldn't raise me with grandparents, and she wants very much to make up for it by being a grandmother herself. It's not a good reason to have kids, it only adds to the the burden in my mind.

I really enjoy texting and online communication, although I don't think it should the only form of communication for too long in the courting phase. This is because when you're behind the screen, you have nearly unlimited time to curate your thoughts and present an image that may not be true to your in-person self. I don't see texting as any different from writing a letter. I've felt genuine happiness, sadness, and fits of laughter from text conversations alone, so I don't consider it superficia…

Very judge-y thread so far... seriously, what the heck? Sounds like you're doing great! Facebook never shows the whole picture, but it's a great way to keep people who are far away (i.e.: the family) at your fingertips and remind them that you enjoy being part of their lives. I also started being more active on it when I met my boyfriend's family. As long as you stay from doing anything political, inappropriate or otherwise, it's an excellent tool. I think it is good question, we are used to trolls so that's why there is some skepticism. Regardless, I believe you. I would not describe this as a foundation issue. This is a fairly specific topic. RP is about general gender dynamics, and discussion revolves around how to use those dynamics to our goals or benefit. Men and women often (though not always) have different goals. Plenty of feminists here, btw. Feel free to lurk/contribute more! Ha.

Since TRP and RPW are different strategies based off the same/similar axioms and would likely yield different responses, I'm just going to respond from my personal perspective. 1) I am not a man. If a man feels that a woman who has been raped is a less suitable partner for him, that (just like physical attributes, family history, illnesses, and other factors that are out of people's control) is valid no matter how distasteful someone else finds it. While, obviously, rape happens exponentially mo…

Although I'm not into overly emotional men, I also don't go for stoics. Letting thoughts and feelings be known at the appropriate time in a direct way would give me the impression that he is confident and interested, which I'd like.

I understand. Frankly, in the past there have been guys I showed great interest in just the same, but then I backed out because when push came to shove I couldn't make the commitment... for arbitrary reasons. I agree it's cold, but it happens. Believe me he's doing you a favor by not contacting you. If you didn't date long, he's not likely to tell you anything specific. Accept it as a lesson that ultimately some things are out of our control, and sometimes that's a good thing.

Most school have free counseling - it's worth checking if yours does as well! It'd be a 45min to an hour session most likely, easy to fit between a class, once a week or so. I think we're going through period in time where liberal and conservative agendas are evolving. Five years ago, the views I hold today would have been considered moderately liberal. Today, most of my liberal friends would consider me conservative - even if I don't identify with that label. It's only been recently I've had to describe myself as right-leaning for others to get a grasp of where I am on most issues relative to the current political environment. I agree, and believe me we're not as alone as social media would have us believe. Because a lot of people, (especially in this group) are not looking to recruit, we don't typically speak up about our beliefs. Don't fret over it! :) sometimes I feel the same way and wish I could be more open without the threat of being ostracized, but it doesn't worry me. As long as I'm free live my life the way I want to, I don't care what anyone else thinks and don't care to let them know.

My extrinsic value I'd say is only from the absolute closest people to me - my mother, my SO, and 2 of my friends. They are all honest people who have been there with me through thick and thin, and have deep trust in. As long as I have healthy relationships with them, I feel I am on the right path and have meaning in their lives as much as they do in mine. The same goes for my personal goals in my education and career. Although, I'd like to add, looks are still a factor in how I value myself. I …

Do you have any hobbies or passions that he doesn't? Doing activities alone (even if it's as simple as reading, video games, or a yoga class on the weekend) can help you detach and have your own space. What is it that you've tried up until this point? Those are normal honeymoon phase gestures. If that's something you'd be willing to break up over, then... I don't think he's the problem here. While I don't think there is a direct causation, this has been a bias I've had in mind myself for a while. The two best looking guys I've dated (including my current), I considered physically out of my league initially. They're also the two most generous and kind boyfriends I've had. I do think people who have shortcomings in certain areas always try to overcompensate to make others believe they have more value in general - so that may apply here. More importantly though, I don't think that it's…

I generally prefer wide shoulders, facial hair, faces that are wider as opposed to longer, and light eyes. As long as their body is within the range of healthy (not too thin, not overweight) I can dig it. There are plenty of men that don't necessarily fit my ideal that I still find attractive. The most attractive celebrity in my book would be Chris Pine. My SO looks also happens to look like him, so I lucked out - hah.

I agree the ages of consent should not be lowered, whole heartedly. That article concerns me quite a bit... Either way, I do not believe that children are necessarily incapable of feeling gender or sexuality. Acknowledging one's own identity and orientation, however, is very different than being able to make decisions based on them. I remember feeling sexuality as early as 6. I still feel the same in that respect as I did then. This is a sensitive subject because of the common belief that if som…

I haven't been in some time, but Forever 21 has a lot of casual dresses. My main issue with them is that since they're a little cheap, not all of them have a great fit. I have found some grest ones though. You just have to dig. I'm a fan of Love Culture as well. Online I got some cute skater skirts from F21 I believe were $5 or $8 - super easy to dress up or down, and they have a wide range of colors! I think skirts are another great way of solving the dilemma of being too dressy or casual.

I completely agree - so long as crude statements are not necessarily outlawed. I think we are starting to see the slippery slope I once never believed in unfold. Good communication should be widely encouraged, not forced. It leads to people being terrible if only out of spite - which, needless to say, they should be held accountable for. The means through which we encourage good communication are just as, if not more, important than the desired outcome.

This is such great advice! It's so easy to assume that other people are meaning to blow you off or spite you. People have their own lives going on. It's healthier to jump to concern and empathy rather than frustration. I don't think it comes naturally to anyone. Everything takes practice. Both me and my boyfriend have had evolving opinions. I would describe both of us as being slightly right of center. We have not always been that way. If this man isn't capable of respecting you so early in your relationship while you are going through difficult and transformative time, what makes you think this man will be loyal to you when you inevitably come across other hardships? While appearance is important, if he truly is not attracted to you and cannot guarantee faith, the mature option is to leave. Simple as that. This man is clearly taking advantage of your insecurity and naivete. This is not love - leave him.

So to sum it up: Not working Not in school Cheats on you sexually and emotionally Your partner is someone you and your potential children should admire and respect. No one owes anyone anything. That said, since joining RPW, I've let go of the frame of mind that because I don't "owe" something, that I shouldn't bother to give it. If a small gesture will benefit me and those around me, it's best to take advantage of it. Having good posture, for example, not only affects how other people perceive you - it can also boost your confidence and mood. It costs nothing, and you can only gain from it. Well, on the flip side, how will you be able to judge people objectively if you are always comparing them to another person? As for how you get to know people - easy. You date them and them only, decide whether or not you want a relationship with them, proceed accordingly. The goal isn't to know as many people as possible. It's about deciding whether or not you want to invest your future into a person. Dating multiple people is not an effective way to do that.

It depends. I wouldn't consider wearing some lipstick and mild eyeliner with mascara to be lying anymore than I would consider hair gel and masculine facial hair on a baby faced guy to be lying. My rule of the thumb is: if you are afraid or ashamed to take off your makeup, then there's a high chance it you're wearing it to mislead.

Good question, but based on all that you indicated about your relationship, I fail to understand what other foundation you have. Mutual admiration (respect) and compatibility is what builds a solid future. I'm simply not getting that impression from this whole scene. Sorry.

Respect is more important than you believe it is. Once you experience it you will understand why. I don't believe that by staying in this relationship, however, that you will ever come to that point. Like another poster said, this kind of relationship is not what this sub advocates. It sounds like he gets off primarily on your vulnerability and youth. One of which (like another poster said) will expire one day. Do you see this continuing into your 30s, 40s, 50s?

I came in expecting another type of story, but everything in what you described does honestly appear strange and unhealthy at best. Absolutely. One of my ex female bosses was exactly as you described. Even with friends or people in her personal life. I would notice though, that with her husband she was not as brash.
