I'm a bi woman who's married to another woman and I gotta say I find the straight dating scene a lot worse. So much societal toxicity shoved into people's heads about how relationships should be while gay couples don't tend to have those expectations. I think so much of y'all's problems are self inflicted personally.

If I'm not attracted to someone I don't want to date them. Money isn't a deal breaker but if they were dependant on me we'd be pretty screwed because I am not wealthy enough to support two people. Celibate would be the best option in that case.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/03/22 04:14 PM

How do they not get this? I'm a bi woman and seriously like 95% of people my age just look idk like normal to me. In the right contexts I might be attracted but it's so heavily dependent on how they make me feel as a person.

This isn't exactly hard to find. That covers the basics pretty well although I admit I skimmed but it certainly seemed in line with what I believe. I have seen (admittedly older) men judging women for having the audacity to ask men out. It is absurdly easy to find stories from women of being slut shamed for absolute nonsense.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/22 01:25 AM
1

Tell that to the men who like slut shaming women. You guys always think not wanting to marry someone with dozens of partners is slut shaming when we're talking about being demonized for expressing positive sexuality at all which you guys seem to think doesn't happen.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/22 01:04 AM

I mean I've seen men think less of women for even dressing provocatively. Some men draw the line of slut at "she's slept with someone who isn't me"

My circle of friends is prudish I guess then. I would say most of my female friends are in the 4-8 range (I know several women in their 30's with 3 or less though) and I would guess slightly higher on average for the men. The poly people I know are all in the dozens+. Almost everyone I know is fairly relationship driven but has had occasional flings/one night stands.

The only people I know with more than like 20 partners aren't monogamous to begin with (or are gay/bi men) so I don't see how that would really be a problem for them. Idk it just comes across to both me and my wife as controlling and jealous when people really care that much. Or think about it that much really.

Well sure, no one is saying you have to sleep with anyone you don't want to for whatever reason you don't want to(some reasons are kinda messed up though like racism) but TRP seems obsessed to an unhealthy degree on this. I mean, I also date women (albeit very differently than you) and I 100% don't care about how many men my partners have been with and have never asked. I just don't see how it matters. Like if they're a responsible, honest person who am I to judge their hobbies? I've definitely …

Smoking cigarettes kills many thousands of people a year. Weed kills no one. Any pleasant activity can become an addiction but frequently it seems to me you guys draw the line somewhere still in the healthy sexual appetite range for women. Would you call a hungry woman who was eating fat? Then why call a woman who wanted to get laid a slut?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/22 11:29 PM
1

For the same reason I think smoking weed should be socially acceptable. What is acceptable social behavior frequently doesn't align with what I consider moral or ethical. Consider lynching in the US south. It was certainly considered socially acceptable. They simply thought black people weren't equal to white people and that's why it was okay. There is no good reason for (some) men to think women are lesser because they enjoy sex and don't mind seeking out partners. I grew up in a very progressi…

It should be socially acceptable is my point.

Egalitarianism doesn't mean every individual is equally capable. Egalitarianism means men and women get held to the same ethical framework. If it's okay for men to have a high body count than it's okay for women to as well. It happens equally often that women pursue men in my group as the inverse. This isn't off putting for the men because they also believe in egalitarianism and it's a much more fair system. You want this dating imbalance that makes everything seem toxic to me.

"If there are no objective truths or solid principles then we cannot think that political projects or the force of law will be enough anymore. When it is the culture that is corrupted and the peoples no longer recognize any real truth nor universally valid principles, the laws will only be understood as arbitrary impositions and obstacles to be avoided." hate to say this but even as a child they would still find fault with you. sigh you're probably right. At least I have a really dark sense of humor. How could that grown man have possibly have resisted my charm. Was it my love of Alanis Morissette that said this preteen is actually an adult?

We're in our mid 30's so our lives up to this point. That's 3-5 different people we've slept with per person. Some are obviously more or less than that but I would say most of the people I know fall within that range fairly easily. That's what I'm talking about. A social circle with a relatively large number of people who consider men and women social equals. You don't seem to think that exists.

I'm married to a woman and I don't want kids. I value my autonomy which I would have lacked. I wouldn't have been able to have my own bank account in much of the US.

/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/22 01:05 AM
13

No? Just equally. My best friend is a straight man. Nearly my entire social circle I would say averages 3-5 partners and none of us are really ashamed of it. We're all pretty open about it. Why is it so hard for you guys to believe we exist?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/22 01:00 AM

At least for my circle no one cherishes it or shames it. We just think sex is fun. We don't make that big of a deal about it. I would say 90% of the people I know(both genders) fall between 3-5 partners and we're mid 30's.

Unlike liberal men, most men About a third of this country is liberal. That's a lot of men. Also other people can have other political opinions than you without ceding their autonomy to the government. That is an extremely black and white view of the world. I could summarize this group in a similarly pithy way but I tend to try to stick to the argument and not to pontificate.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/22 12:46 AM
1

This only makes sense as a counter argument if you had asked why are men so attracted to women with big boobs. One is an actual concrete physical trait and the other is entirely a social phenomenon. You can't look at someone and know their number of partners but I can look at a man and see how tall he is or look at a woman and see her figure.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/22 12:43 AM
2

That is not a good faith argument and you know it.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/22 12:32 AM
3

Why do you take everything we say to such extremes? Yes I find taller men attractive, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't date a shorter man. I find brunettes more attractive in general than blondes but my wife is a blonde.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/22 12:26 AM

A significant number of my friends (in fact nearly all) don't want children and that doesn't factor into their dating choices at all. The ones that do have kids seem to have the same views as the others on this. I would say almost all my friends are now in LTRs but have probably had on average 3-5 partners each and that's men and women both. Everyone I know is pretty open about it.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/22 12:22 AM

The only man I've ever fallen for was shorter than me and I'm like 5'6"
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/22 12:15 AM

I disagree. I can't help but feel you are projecting your desires on all men. Go ask r/menslib how much they care about a woman's number of partners and you're going to get a lot of men trying to explain to you why that's a toxic view of women.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/22 11:57 PM

Where you grew up also matters. I grew up in an affluent area in a large city. Rural areas are less sexually liberal.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/22 11:47 PM
10

No because you are wrong in this case. My friends were brought up very socially liberal. My male friends don't have your puritanical views of women. I'm married to a woman and I probably have more male friends than most straight women. My best friend is a straight man.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/22 11:47 PM
17

No I'm saying it may be the case that for you that men you know prefer women with fewer partners but you don't know every or even most men and you shouldn't be making such a generalization across all men.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/22 11:42 PM

Define an "average" man. Like just men at random globally? I doubt a study of that kind has ever been done reliably and I have no idea what it would be. It's going to depend heavily on the age of the person and the culture they live in. If you got 1000 men that went to the same highschool as me born after idk probably the mid 80's I'd be willing to bet that most wouldn't really care about their partner's dating history but more about compatibility. A thousand Midwestern farmers in their 60's are…

You are assuming your experience is universal to all people. Different cultures have different mores and values when it comes to sexuality and I come from a pretty egalitarian social circle. Sex is fun. None of us make a big deal about it.

Every women I know who has been sexually assaulted was done so by someone we knew in a context where a gun wouldn't have helped, myself included. My social circle doesn't live in a gym. We all have the bodies of people in our mid 30's. How are the men putting in more effort? Edit: if you were talking about your post showing that women tend to have more body fat that seems absurd. There is so much more to attraction than how skinny someone is.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/22 06:11 PM
1

What are you talking about? I don't think most people really obsess over bodies that way at all. For my straight(I'm bi and married to a woman) friends who are married couples it seems like it's more the man who's a tad overweight and the woman is always thin. Not always the case but honestly most people are about average in looks I think and I know equal numbers of men and women I find attractive enough to have sex with.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/22 05:53 PM
1

That's great but how does that imply that men have to try harder than women to date?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/22 05:30 PM
1

On top of what I mentioned I spend about half of a hour a day working out too. I'm actually not attracted to really muscled men and I am far from the only women to feel this way. Just staying fairly active and relatively thin is enough for me (though a little over weight isn't necessarily a deal breaker).

Slapping on some makeup and getting your hair done is easy. Then why don't more men use a good face wash and moisturizer and maybe some concealer or even foundation now and again? It goes a long way. No one would even be able to tell you had it on. Same with getting more than just a really short hair cut. Style it up. The men pursue, expend resources, and risk rejection. All women have to do is exist, and not even as their best selves! Do you live in like a super conservative area? I'm a very so…

I don't think women are accustomed to expending zero effort, the reason why is I think both men and women equally want to appear attractive, I'm not sure what you mean by being spoiled to be honest.

I'm gay so it's certainly not to attract men lol. Women are taught from a young age that how we look is important in a way men aren't. This was because historically if you wanted to be wealthy as a woman you had to marry wealthy because it's not like you could earn it back then. It's not really the case anymore but there are some things that lagged behind. My male friends certainly care as much about their appearance it's just that society doesn't say that for a man to be considered attractive t…

I guarantee far more women a significant portion of their day trying to look nice then men. It takes me nearly an hour of skincare, hair removal, and makeup everyday. If it's something formal add an hour. How long does it take you to leave the house?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/22 02:24 PM

I hate to break it to you but you're misinterpreting the data. What it's saying is a higher percentage of women fall along the lower counts. So 20% of women have between 1-3 partners while only 19% of men do, this is only because men on average tend to have more than 1-3. Look at zero and one partners. More women have never had sex than men and more women have had only one partner than men. Add up the totals: 50% of women have between 0 and 3 lifetime partners but only 45% of men not because men…

I'm a (mostly) gay woman with a very large social circle of both men and women and it really never seems to me that the men struggle any more than the women. We're in our mid 30's now and most of us are married or in LTRs. All middle class normal looking people.

I also used to be one of those alcoholics and I definitely know about hiding drinking. You get the one bottle at home you let everyone see you drink and keep the other shame bottle in the bedroom so your roommates don't realize the extent of the problem.

All the promiscuous men I know seem pretty into promiscuous women. Edit: The second part just made me lol. I'm bi and the only man I've ever met that I was actually romantically interested in was shorter than me and I'm not a tall woman. I know you said some women but it's just so funny to me.

RNA can copy itself spontaneously and I don't think most people consider RNA on it's own to be alive so yes I'd say atoms can reproduce in the same sense as cells. Why do you make such a hard distinction between life and non life? At what point do blind chemical processes get purpose? Where in all the chemistry does "purpose" as an emergent phenomenon arise? If cells that can't reproduce have purpose do its precursors also? In a hypothetical world with only RNA and no cells do all the self assem…

animals that have 2 sexes Your exact words. Though that doesn't imply necessarily that only animals possess sex. I'm still curious about my earlier question. If metabolism came before reproduction what was the purpose of those cells? I'd also argue that DNA doesn't "tell it what it's supposed to do" in the same sense that atom's electron shells don't tell it how to react. We define atoms and cells by these things but the purpose of a cell being to reproduce makes as much sense to me as to say th…

There actually isn't a universally agreed upon definition of life in biology, and there are things like viruses that have some of the qualities we ascribe to life but not all of them depending on who's definition of living you are using. There probably wasn't a hard line between life and non life but a series of events that gave proto-cells more and more of the features we think of when we think of life. At which point in this process did it become life? If metabolism came before reproduction do…

At what point did life get purpose then? At some point a natural process happened that made non life into life and it's not like physics has a distinction between the two. It's not like my genes actually care if they get passed on. It was entirely a natural process that made them the same as the planet. There is an ongoing debate as to whether or not viruses actually count as living and they reproduce. I realize this sounds like a truism but the better something is at making copies of itself the…

/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/22 09:31 PM

But we are special in a lot of ways. I simply don't believe life has a purpose at all. It's just a natural phenomenon like planet formation. Do planets have a "purpose"?

Because evolution placed many pressures on me besides my libido. I also love eating but my purpose isn't to obtain calories so that I won't die. These are all just parts of life. People can make them their purpose if they choose but I don't think there's anyone other than thinking beings that can actually give something purpose.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/22 09:17 PM

Yes but I am a lot more than just my genes. My genes are very good at making copies of themselves yes, but that doesn't make my purpose to assist them in that.

I'm not sure what you mean? Some of my male friends struggle and some of my women friends struggle. I don't think one gender really has it worse than the other.

Again, biology doesn't care about what I do at all. It's not a thinking being that understands teleology. No one is here for any purpose. We exist because our ancestors were better at it than others. Animals didn't evolve eyes because they're useful. It's just that the animals that could detect light outcompeted the ones who didn't.

That's so reductionist though. Most humans share the vast majority of our DNA. Why would it matter to me on a genetic level whether I have a child or my cousin does? We're practically indistinguishable on a genetic level. I am much more than the genetic machinery that gave rise to me.

I have. I've known some thirsty women.

Then why do you assume other people are so different? I know people who outright say they can't be in a monogamous relationship and that's fine too. I just think most humans are wired for monogamy and understand the whole "do unto others" thing. Edit:I am married and have been with that same partner for about 7 years now for context.

Would you cheat on you SO if you thought you'd get away with it?

I wouldn't say a significant number of my friends have cheated or have been cheated on. That's just being a bad person which at least for my social circle is a deal breaker. Some people just prefer polyamory and that's just fine too as long as everyone's honest. In my experience most people are monogamous though.

Most of the people I know, men and women, care far more about being in a loving relationship than are concerned about minutia of fitness in a Darwinian sense.

Idk my best friend is a man. If anything I feel like red pilled men never listen to women.

Humans have a strong interest in sex. Women are punished socially for expressing it in a way that men aren't (though this is getting a lot better imo). I've never heard a man called a slut in a negative manner.

You know I'm a woman right? Women absolutely are open about what we find attractive, it's just not as much of a visual thing for us. I'm bi and prefer women(I'm married to a woman) and I feel like I see attractive women with not so attractive men all the time.

Almost every couple I know actually just like each other so I figured in that instance it would be the same. How is that reading to much into it? It's generally men I hear talking about women's appearances far more than women doing the same. If anything I feel like men tend to be more shallow.

I mean sometimes people just love each other. It doesn't need to be read into so much.

I do know a lot of alcoholics because I'm a bartender. Most of my friends don't qualify for that though.

I only know one woman who married someone significantly wealthier than herself. I know a lot of straight couples where the woman makes more money. Honestly though 99% of the people I know are all middle class and don't have much of a difference in income. I just don't see what you're describing and I know a lot of people.

I live in one of the largest cities in the US and it's not that small here. I don't know a single rich gay woman. It's all just middle class women. In fact all my straight friends married middle class men. I've only met one woman who married a man significantly wealthier than herself.

Do gay women do this in your opinion?

I know a lot of people who go to many bars and drink at least once a week but I don't know many alcoholics. I feel like you're being a bit harsh. Relationships are built on trust. I've been in several LTRs and none of them ended because of a lack of trust. I'm currently married to someone I've been with for nearly a decade. There is absolutely nothing wrong with sleeping with whomever you want whenever you want provided no one is being dishonest and this just has never been a problem for me. Als…

Of all the hundreds of women I've known over my 34 years of life, I have only known one woman who married a significantly wealthier man than herself.

I think this used to be true but now that women aren't expected to be homemakers it has changed. The reason it existed though was because women were prohibited from having careers so their value was tied to their desirability to men which given that lesbians and asexual women exist isn't a reality most women want to go back to. We like having autonomy as much as men.

Why wouldn't I be? I can't imagine being so possessive that my partner's dating history would be a deal breaker. Edit: Will someone unironically explain what's wrong with this? I know it's an office space reference. I mean what's wrong with people having consensual sex? It's fun. There are ways of being careful. As long as both parties are honest and respectful why does it matter?

I've never heard a woman say any of those things. Not saying some women aren't like that, but I don't think it's nearly as common as you portray. None of them would be deal breakers for me, and I can't imagine I wouldn't pay my half of the bill. I'm not saying remove the idea of gender rolls, but don't enforce them so much or think they're ideals to emulate. If people want to have them that's fine, but who cares if others don't? I'm bi and there are none of these pressures when I date women and …

I personally don't know a single feminist who thinks the patriarchy is good for men. The men's lib subreddit is literally a progressive subreddit dedicated to men's issues. I agree that men do get left out of these discussions more than they should, but so many men refuse to see a problem with the way we force toxic behaviors onto men.
