I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling this way OP, but you do have it easier without kids involved. You will find someone else and it’s easier for you because lots of ladies in their late 30’s looking to settle down, and easier with no kids involved picture. Don’t despair!! I’m kinda in the same situation as you, I have kids, but if I divorce I won’t see them half the time and I’ll be alone too, don’t have family or close friends in area. My wife is pretty much my best friend. She still wants to live…

Well, she doesn’t hide her phone…..but I can’t see the messages when they pop up, only names. Only one time I saw this Spanish name pop up several times on her ipad linked to her phone sitting on the table one day and I asked about it and she said it was one of her managers texting her about someone calling in sick. Who knows, I mean she could be right and I could be wrong in this.

What did you do, stick them under her seat, if you don’t mind me asking?

Oy, that’s my fear, I’m sorry you went through that. Knowing if she was really lying or not though would give me closure I think.

That’s a good idea.

Yea I don’t know how to get proof….unless I hire a private investigator I guess. But thank you, this is all happening so fast for me and I’m still trying to absorb the scope and reality of it all.

Thanks man and sorry to hear about your situation. Yea, it felt good to confront her and let out my thoughts I was holding in the last 2 weeks. It’s obvious the marriage is over by now, she doesn’t have love for me like she used to and I really miss and long for that connection with someone again. So I need to move on, heal and then get back in the action.

No doubt, I see all the writing on the wall now, thanks bud.

Well something deep down inside me tells me she is telling truth because I always trusted her throughout marriage, I really thought she was a solid, loyal and moral partner and something deep down still wants to believe that. But the more I think about it (and I have been doing a lot of thinking lately) the more I see all the signs that she hides things in order to protect the peace of our family.

I will ask her to move back in with her mom. The rental is on my name and I have nowhere to go, no family, no close friends.

Thanks. Yea, she is giving me a little bit of hope that we can work it out but says not to expect an answer soon.

Yea I was kinda wondering, many of them have a lotta hatred towards men it seems.

I don’t know about that, if you go to the Aging sub-Reddit, there is a lot of single women over 40 who seem to really enjoy being alone.

And I very much thank you for it, all advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks. Getting a lower paying job is not going to happen, because It will lock me out of current job which is pretty much best position in the field I work in here. I also don’t own property, I am paying into a pension though. And I have a small 401k on the side. I rent, own a used vehicle, make payments on wife’s car and that’s about it.

Hang onto to that hope. I hope things get better for you soon.

My wife has no issue criticizing me, and I always say “oh, sorry I’ll do better” but if I criticize her at all she gets hurt inside or wants to argue back. Yep, I’m doing my best to save marriage too just like you. Working out, changing appearance, taking on a lot of the household responsibility. Plucking out those odd hairs on my face that irritate her. I think I’m more attractive now then when we were young and yet it seems to me she is scouting out a new love interest maybe, I don’t know.

I’m really sorry to hear that man. I’m kinda in a similar situation to you too. 15 years marriage, two kids, etc. wife nit picking stuff about me. My mom who divorced from my dad in similar situation told me that 15 years is a long time to be with someone and sometimes your partner will just be tired of it and want to move on. It’s not fair for the kids, you are totally right and I don’t understand how someone could get sick of their partner when they agreed to enter a long term relationship and…

I would love an apartment in a lively area with coffee shops and boutique stores. But if I was forced into an apartment in a desolate suburb where you have to drive everywhere, then I would get depressed quickly.

Both really. Living with my best friend and my kids. Can’t ask for anything better. But I guess she didn’t see it that way with me.

I know it pretty cold thing to say to me after being together so long and having two kids and all those memories as a family.

She works, but I make 3 times her wage, so she couldn’t live on her own. Right now she has it good with me financially and the she has a lot of freedom too. The stupid part is I made a joint checking account with her and I been letting her make payments to her credit card without me seeing where she spends the money. I always trusted her.

That’s interesting. I never made time for outside activities because I try to be with my kids much as possible when they are young.

No, she doesn’t want to do couples therapy. She has come to the conclusion with the aid of her therapist that our relationship is worse than unhealthy apparently. Funny how her therapist can come to that conclusion without meeting meeting me once and getting my side of the story.

Yea it’s hard when I’m working nights and looking after kids in evening, while she works. What little social life I had has basically nose dived to nothing. So life is not easy for me right now and then all this from my wife on top of it.

Yea I still love her though, so that would be hard on me knowing she’s with other men while I’m at home looking after our children.

We rent a house together with the lease under my name. I don’t have any family in area and I don’t have any close friends I can stay with. I don’t have anywhere to go unless I rent a motel or wife volunteers to move out with her mom and I stay in house.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
