My late grandma who was born in a house with a literal dirt floor had plates and I can tell u that her family would die of shame if anyone suggested they serve guests like this. If your situation is that bad don't attempt to date.

It is also used in high pressure sales tactics. This is meant to create a false sense of familiarity/friendship that will cause you to let your guard down. So not only is this a low bar it also can be a red flag and the sign of someone who is consciously trying to be manipulative.

I probably did not express myself as clearly as I intended, sorry for that. I am not sure what your relationship with your sister is like...if this is unusual for her maybe try and talk to her when a little time has passed and emotions are not so high. However if this is part of a continuing pattern of behavior I would agree that you should not talk to her unless she apologizes(and gets rid of that LVM she calls a boyfriend). Enforcing boundaries is tough and can be painful but stay strong.

If someone gets pissed at you for having a boundary it does not mean you were wrong, in fact the opposite. Other women here will probably give you a more elaborate analysis but I just want to say you just not wanting him around is a good enough reason, period.

This post really irritated me. I live in a fairly expensive city but there are tons of cute non chain restaurants by me where you can get a dinner entree for about 15$ a person and some of those places have really decent food and nice ambiance. Same with flowers. I saw a really nice holiday floral arrangement at my local grocery for guess what, 15$! Of course in my opinion he should be doing way more than these minimal things but he is not even willing to spend 15$ on her. These are things I did…

I'm just imagining the roasting a woman would get if she packed her kid"s overnight bag like this. It would not matter to observers if she was ill, sleep deprived etc if she did this she would be criticized to hell and back. If it is a man there are a billion excuses why it is not his fault.

To be fair I don't think we can blame Dr. Seuss for this one. Love exists but what she is feeling is not love. She is applying this quote where it does not apply.

I have to respectfully disagree. My dad, with very little formal education and coming from a very patriarchal culture absolutley cooked for himself and us kids and did laundry etc because my mom worked varying hours and stuff needed to be done so he did it. He did not make any big fuss about it either. It is possible guys-if a guy like my dad can do it it is possible.

Heavy coats that you wear in colder climates typically can't be washed in a normal washing machine. I have 2 winter coats-one I got for a winter hiking trip, this one goes to the cleaners as it is more expensive and I am afraid a machine would ruin it. The other is just too bulky to put in my machine at home so it requires a trip to the laundromat. To be clear though neither of these scenarios are a valid excuse to not wash your stuff, that's just gross.

It is exactly this, and also the problem is it often works for them. I have seen in my life a lot of extremely low effort trolls paired with women who are attractive go getter women. Those guys see those pairings around them too and think that they have a chance.

If he is actually clinically depressed to the point where he is neglecting basic self care and hygiene maybe he should not be in a relationship and should instead be seeking professional help. She is not a behavioral health professional so why is it her job to sort this mess out?

Spot on. The feeling of community in other places is completely different, as someone from an immigrant background who lives in the West I can testify to that. How can we create more loving, intimate communities here though? I feel like the prevailing attitude here is that no one owes anyone anything and connections tend to be tenuous and shallow. I would love to hear thoughts from any of you ladies on how to tackle this.

This is a great counterpoint to the typical anti-FDS argument floating around reddit that FDS is all about gold digging. No guys it is about CARE,THOUGHT, and EFFORT.

The goal with pepper spray is just to create a brief window of time where your attacker is dealing with the effects of the pepper spray and you can get the hell away from him. Any method of self defense that requires you to have to get too close to your assailant to use is bad news. Spray and get away. Also,it is important to note if you live in most Western countries, if you attack your assailant who has already been neutralized (and if you had options for getting away/retreating) you will face…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/10/20 01:09 PM

Definitely it does not. A gun needs lots of training. Without training you can easily shoot yourself or an innocent bystander. A knife, as I said previously, is a terrible idea. Why? Because it requires you to get close to an assailant to use it-an assailant who is almost certainly stronger and faster than you are.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/10/20 12:51 PM

Sorry to say but I agree. Pepper spray is I think the least worst option-it might give you a brief window of time to escape if you have it in your hand and ready to spray, otherwise if you have to fumble with it it can easily be taken from you. I see a lot of young women on this sub and others talking about kicking a guy's ass or advocate knife carrying. This is really dangerous advice. A knife can not only be easily taken from you but will likely then be used on you. As far as physical defense …

Many people don't want to get married. If a woman decides that she would rather forgo that she can. However, she should keep in mind that there is a decent chance that any relationship she has is likely to be temporary, and should therefore keep, in my opinion, their living arrangements and finances separate, to avoid all the legal entanglements and downright nastiness that can occur.

This has happened to people I know personally. This is why I tell my young female family members to get an education or a trade and always keep one foot in the working world, even if only part time, for 2 reasons-first you never want to be in a predicament where you don't have enough money to even buy a meal's worth of groceries on your own, second, after 10,15, 20 years out of the workforce getting even a minimum wage job will be tough. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

The casual relationship ship has sailed, as much as he does not want to believe it. Also it kills me how these dudes act like they have no clue that if you have sex with a woman who is of childbearing age, that pregnancy is always at least a possibility. It always seems to come as a big shock to them somehow. The only silver lining here is that his family sound decent. I hope they will be helpful and supportive to this new mom-I have a feeling she will really need it.

Many years ago before I got remarried to my current husband a guy who was 11 years my senior was interested in me. He was a nice looking older man and financially stable so I did consider him. My Male co-worker I confided in told me: A. He is too old for you B. If he has not been married before at his age (he hadn't) he is probably a weirdo and C. You can do way better. He was right on all counts and I regret that I even took the time to have a conversation with that older guy.

The guy who cheaps out on the rings is the same guy who will cheap out on a thousand other essential things in the course of the relationship. I have seen examples of this and I know it is true. The woman in this situation will provide everything herself or go without, and if that's the case what even is the point?

I would say it is subject to interpretation. From my point of view I don't think the book is endorsing the actions of the boy/man. I think it is a cautionary tale about codependency, how it will leave you with nothing and does not do the other person any good either.

I am going to speculate wildly here I might be way off or I might be right-I think he might be on some form of disability SSI which in many places might enable him to rent very low income housing and still have a little bit of money left-thats why he has money to split but not date. No judgement here on any of that, but I wonder-is he interested in women who are in the same boat and on his level, or does he think they are beneath him?

Thank you! This seems to be such a common experience for women, maybe because we are socialized to put others first. It is good to be a supportive friend but not at the expense of our own happiness and well being, and not for someone who refuses to reciprocate.

First I wanna say don't let anyone tell you 29 is old. It is not by anyone's standards unless you are taking into account the standards of porn sick weirdos (which you shouldn't). It is normal to want to feel physically attractive and I would encourage you to do whatever you need to do to feel more confident. I got rid of a former friend like this. At one point she had been a really good friend and I knew her for many years, but the last few years were unending negativity coupled with a complete unwillingness to change the situations that were making her life so unpleasant. The funny thing is that she is everything MRA/Redpill kind of guys hate. I'm pretty sure she is over 25, that's a huge strike against her in their book. She is also a mom and has very noticable tattoos, which I have also seen those guys complain about. My parents were in a weird way a good example for me on this. They were not a love connection or a very compatible couple honestly but there was always a base level of respect between them-there was never screaming, cursing, getting in each other's faces etc in our house. So if two people who are not crazy about each other can maintain a baseline respect then two people who love each other should certainly be able to.

There are some studio apts near me. They are really just a small room not even really a studio-no separate kitchen and just a tiny bathroom with a shower stall. Not ideal at all. But it is inexpensive, in a safe area, and most importantly it is a secure building. This is a bad idea because it sets a horrible precedent for the marriage. Lots of men will go along to get along if they get the benefits of a wife/life partner with minimal effort. So if she proposes, maybe he will agree-if she has minimal expectations, makes his life easier, and he has no other prospects. With this scenario, does the woman have a man in the house she can call husband? Yes. Does she have a true partner who fully has her back? Hell no-she has a placeholder who mentally has nine …

I had an elderly relative who was married off at 14 and she did in fact give birth to a child about a year later at the age of 15-but she nearly died and never had another child after that again. I would not bother to share this with a guy like the one who made that post. The sad fact is, nothing will make them acknowledge our humanity or care about our suffering.

What I have observed is that the guy who finds it difficult to get paired up is not someone who is a good partner if he does get one-on the contrary, he may feel that the woman he managed to get is him settling, and while he will take whatever she is offering inside he is seething with resentment.

Maybe I'm too sensitive but I take it as dehumanizing language.

I actually knew someone who did this. When he got a new gf she had a legit mental breakdown, hospitalized and all.

I guess it really goes to show how normalized misogyny still is and how much it is still accepted in pop culture.

There was a lot of really weird crap floating around on TV back in the day but that takes the cake.

That was gonna be my question. Do they ever go out to dinner, dancing, a concert, anything? Or just she comes over and uses her and she leaves?

I am someone who works with kids and generally really likes them but boy do they drain you-emotionally and if u are giving birth /being pregnant yourself, physically. So I would say it has to be an individual choice that you have to be fully on board for. I respect any woman who is able to say that this is not for them despite pressure to say and do otherwise.

I feel like if someone needs to ask if they are with an asshole they probably are.

I have seen it so many times that men will absolutely keep a woman on the hook THAT HE DOES NOT EVEN LIKE if she will make things easy, provide (sex, money, emotional labor) and not ask for anything. Why would you want to waste time with someone who literally does not even like you?

Yes this-by all means let him keep his germ factory petri dish. It is his after all. But she should run away not walk.

I suspect the OP is already a little afraid of the bf on some level although she probably would not admit it, might not even realize it herself. She is deep down a little afraid of what he might do if she pushed the issue.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
