No it's not. The underlying reason for marriage is that men need women to get children and women need support/protection during pregnancy. And everybody needed children to support and protect them when they're old. Nowadays almost all of the incentives are gone and mostly tradition holds it together. This is why it's dying out, or at least I think so.

You gave an example on why it makes no sense to look at the distribution of 2 accidents. The women have an unreasonably high amount of injuries because it is extremely unlikely that one of two people picked from a group of 1010 happens to also be part of a minority of 10. Most car crashes would result in two injured men, so after 101 accidents on average 10% of all men and 10% of all women are going to be injured. But you probably don't have the patience to explain to me why I'm wrong.
