That was actually quite good. I didn't like the typical usage of such words as "privilege" and the rest. But the content itself had a very nice ring to it. But for every one like her there are tens if not hundreds of other self proclaimed "feminists" who will soon reach their teens and start writing blogs.

I was saying it from the point of impact. Saying "raping is bad" to the rapist is not gonna work. I mean - he knows raping is bad. He still does it. Meanwhile giving advice to an alcoholic about checking his surroundings first before getting drunk can have an impact. At least he/she is rational before drinking and is probably willing to take protective measures. So i think the message to protect yourself is better than the usual "don't tell me to watch out, tell rapists not to rape" which sounds…

Now you just lost it. In your first reply to me you attack me about my spelling. Which is not addressing the discussion. Then you say I should not claim high ground because of the spelling again. (And I admitted that I am not the best speller here). And after that you said: "If you say a man or woman seducing someone whilst they are drunk is less serious you are giving the message it is more OK." Which is again not at all relevant to the discussion at hand. Because neither I nor the person I rep…

I overreacted about a usage of a single word. Might be influenced by that book about logic I read yesterday. ... Simple as that. Props to you for remaining cool about it.

I suggested you should be embarrassed by your spelling if you were taking the high ground by your criticism and suggested superior understanding. I didn't suggest superior understanding. What you are saying is that if I am to disagree with someone I have to be superior to them in every regard? I give credit for superior spelling and understanding of English to every poster here, since I am not a native English speaker. But me not being able to write proper English in no way invalids everything e…

That was just an advice to refrain from claiming something to be a logical conclusion when expressing something other than that. It was not an insult, but it sounded like one. So you are free to take it as an insult if you like. On reflection I should have written it in a better tone, but I was in a strange mood.

I didn't say "embarrassment from being misunderstood" I said "embarrassed and misunderstood", which are different things. Regarding the spelling - I never claimed my sentence to be written correctly. But the OP claimed his to be a logical conclusion, which is not. If someone says that sea is blue and the logical conclusion of it is that fish fly - I might have misunderstood what the message was. Or the deliverer might have misunderstood what "logic" is. Hence the reply.
/r/MensRights22/09/13 01:22 PM

Don't try to use logic until you learn how to do it. Otherwise you will probably find youself in a similar situation you are now: embarrassed and missunderstood.

In my experience it's hard to have any kind of discussion on facebook. People start feeling attacked and get defensive. A lot of the arguments there often degenerate towards "are you telling me I cannot post on my wall?" type of stuff.

Welcome to second wave of Mens Rights. We have "stop shaming the decision to circumcise your son" and "denying patriarchy makes us look bad" threads to look forward to. The whole ordeal probably started with some "progressive" ideas like egalitarianism. There are a few people (like you and sometimes me) who mention this in the comments or threads. However the movement is probably to big to steer already. It is going where it is going... Best action it seems (for me at least) is to support MRM as…
/r/MensRights17/07/13 10:52 PM

Sure. Ideally MRM has it's say and someone listens and the nature of these laws are examined. Best course of action for me and probably a lot of us. No sentencing occurs and awareness is raised. But if the options are between jailing and jailing men or applying equal standards, jailing few women and getting awareness that way I must say I prefer the latter. And not because it is a women that gets jailed, but because that is the quicker way.
/r/MensRights17/07/13 10:16 PM

Sure, I am not saying it is the preferable way. I am saying that MRM exist for quite a few years now, trying best to convey the ridiculous nature of these laws to the public. However little is changed. So if change is achieved quicker by exposing the other gender to the same standards - I welcome it. The way that puts less people in these situations is preferable.
/r/MensRights17/07/13 09:58 PM

I suspect it is ridiculous for no other reason than activism of a certain group and a culture of rape hysteria. If it takes sentencing of a few women for society to finally open the eyes so be it.

Yes I manged to spot some crazier ones later on. But by now I have seen so much stuff like this that it stopped having an effect. Women can be sociopaths as well. I don't know why they feel that "DTB" is the best response. To even have a three letter phrase for suggesting a divorce.. But it's how it works. Men should of course wake up to this. I've read a few books written by women about women's infidelity. There were a lot of cases examined and the author concluded that a lot of women simply ha…

I see. Well there are people who write blog posts advocating men to pass to the other side of the streets when approaching a woman in the dark so to not scare her or make her feel intimidated. Then there are women interpreting almost any kind of conversation as sexism and any kind of attention as creepy. And they file workplace complaints about that. Having this in mind it's not a surprise that some men do take the message and simply avoid women. Just natural. Further they are doing zero harm to…

There are men (dare I say most men) who would feel uneasy about their wives working in porn industry, or some kind of exotic dance club. Hell maybe even dancing salsa with a dancer partner. On the other hand there are women who get insecure about their husband watching porn or flirting with other women. To me it just looks natural. Regarding the "bad advices given to the OP" I quickly glimpsed through them and the majority appeared to be sane to me. Sure there are some weird ones, but what do we…
/r/MensRights17/07/13 01:59 AM

MGTOW is simply a statement of self-ownership for men. I find nothing extreme about that. Otherwise - ya. If there were any no women allowed policies here, you would see them written on the sidebar.

I see. So the laws are different. I do find it weird that people can't choose to use their home as they see fit, but maybe there are reasons for it. Considering the past and all the slavery. Maybe society just wants to come to terms with history and make amends, I don't know. The affirmative action stuff looks really crazy to me too. I think most of MRM would agree with this. is what if they are the ONLY provider of an essential good or service. In that case I would argue against the monopoly of the service provided. If the government is providing such service - then no discrimination should be default, because the business is not private, but public. If some person is providing the service - he should not be able to hold a monopoly. So other people can compete with him and eventually out-compete him by allowing a broader range of customers (other races). And discrim…

There are different kinds of laws. If we are talking about laws that supposedly prevent the society from disintegrating to chaos - I don't think they are needed. Simply because if society would be that barbaric - laws would not function. If we are talking about the laws that are forced on the public, then yes, they come without any grounding in morality and certainly shift it in some way. Often in the less moral direction (like the laws that you cannot give money to the beggars). The fact that p…

To me, it fails when you start seeing how people can be denied basic services based on race/gender/whatever. Well but they can go to a different provider of the same service. And by doing that they will bring less profit to the racist one. So it's a good thing. Also it can backfire. For example if I were black and I would be working as a car repairman I certainly would not want to repair a car of any racist bigot. However the laws don't allow me this choice... Interesting discussion by the way. …

Might really be. I can offer part of my answer that I just typed to another person I am talking with. Consider slavery. Slaves were freed. Is this a result of a law or evolution and social awareness by the public? I think awareness comes first, laws come second. Without social stimulus for change, no laws would be passed to free the slaves. With the same argument - if we would abolish the law, the awareness would remain and slavery would not be back.
/r/MensRights13/07/13 01:39 AM

Of course they would own slaves again. People will do what they are allowed to, especially if it's profitable. You'd have NO RIGHT to set them free - BY YOUR OWN ARGUMENT! they are private property, which you have absolute freedom over. Kill em'. If you studied that time period, you'd understand why your argument has many, many, fallacies. Maybe. Maybe not. I am certainly not the only one thinking that humans evolved socially. The best example I can give is the fact that those laws were passed i…

This discussion is slowly turning to the discussion about laws. Well my opinion is that laws don't really do that much. If all the laws regarding race would be erased from the books in Canada - I don't think there would be a race/cultural war starting anytime soon. And if it would - then Canada must be hell of a place even now. It's kind of weird to imagine that every group over there hate each other, but are being nice simply because they play by the books... I don't think what I outlined was total freedom. This is not total freedom. This is basic freedom. I would say this: In a democracy, like we are having now. Majority rule is the law. So if majority is racist - society is racist and we will get racist laws. That's just the definition of democracy. I don't think there is such a thing as "hate group". hate is earned, people are not born haters. If majority of the people hate something, there should be a reason for it. Like Americans today hate Nazi…

I don't consider myself racist, but I don't really know what can be framed as "racism" these days. Thankfully I am outside of USA and any free opinion I have won't get me in legal trouble (funny how that sounded). Anyway, I am not sure you fully understood my position. I am for equal rights. Most important of those rights are: freedom to freely decide what to do with your own property. Freedom of choice. Freedom of speech. Might be the case. If more of them were playing maybe we would see better results, but that is speculation. As for the best chess players they are most often on the boarder of being a prodigy. Judit Polgar included, she played decent chess when she was 10, and probably before that. Getting a bunch of random women interested in chess probably won't have any significant improvement at the top of the ratings.

I don't think it would be a farce like basketball or boxing for example. But well. The best female player is Judit Polgar. Now she is at the 52nd place worldwide overall. Even if we take her peak rating (highest achieved through lifetime) she woulds still be placed at ~20th place. I'm black myself (mixed race though), but I would consider myself to be trustworthy. This is really not about you. It was an example. Yet, in your example that shop owner should be allowed to refuse me employment, based solely on his erroneous perceptions. The shop is his, not yours. You should have no right to that place. what do you mean by "accountable" in this case?
/r/MensRights12/07/13 09:30 PM

And I believe that employment is a contract between two people. And both of those people can have any preferences they wish. As an example employee might not want to work for white people, as it can remind him of slavery. Employer might not want to hire black people, because he thinks they are not trust-worthy. I don't see why should anyone force them to act against their wishes. It's their business, not ours.

Medical benefit that is often cited - it will be cleaner/easier to clean. But this is same with any part of the body. Cut it off - it will be cleaner. Cutting an ear off might make the ear easier to clean. No 2. Is that circumcision reduced the chance of getting AIDS. Really? How could that even function. I know one way - circumci…

I found your comment regarding piercing the ears of a little girl from a few days ago: and she has pierced ears. We can break it down like this: 1) You do it. Your son is cut. He grows up - he is a circumcised man. 2) You don't do it. Your son is intact. He grows up - he has all the choices still available to him. He can do the procedure if he so wishes. Or he can live uncircumcised. Why would you limit his options? Some day he will be a grown-up man. Which one of these people do you think is most capable of deciding his future: You, Your man, a doctor, Your son? Furthermore, regarding culture. The culture…

In my opinion your post is a very accurate representation of the situation. But I think there are some additional angles to it. Namely companies and corporations are always lacking talented people from STEM areas. What they are trying to do is promote the idea that STEM is sexy and fish for students. Just like SarcastiCock said - try /r/theredpill or /r/mgtow And to answer the question - your mistake was in assuming that men want marriage. Women don't want to marry rich jerks as well. Then, once in school, all the boys are under the authority of teachers that are female far more often than not. Not so much when making tons of money... But if you have a family, work your ass off to make the living easier for them and then get divorced, forbidden to see your kids, forced to keep working like a slave for that "family" you once had, even when the only thing you were working for (the children) is long gone. I might do it in that situation.

Shaming is non-issue. If someone is affected by shaming that probably means that they themselves are not comfortable with what they are doing. That mixed with a really weak character. There are no laws against being a slut. And there are no laws against being a player. Where is the problem here? Some granny does not like what you are doing? Or your potential girlfriend/boyfriend will not be interested in you as much if you turned into a slut? Do MRAs concern themselves with such girlish issues t…

Sounds very true to me, I agree. In fact I've come to the same conclusion after several relationships with different girls. Some of them just don't want to understand certain things. It can even be dragged one step further: do you fancy evolutionary psychology? If so, here is a possibility: women who are ignorant about male sexuality have an evolutionary "advantage". They get raped more, for sure, but those who were raped (in the past) had more babies. So evolution favors females who are being r…

From what I've heard prenups "stop working" once there are children in question. Once there was a story about a man, who invested his earned money into real estate and other stuff. And the best part - he made his mother the owner of all of that. So if you have a good relationship with your mother or somebody else - sign some valuables on their name.

No problem, I do hope you will enjoy the book. It was written by a woman, but she is very harsh towards her gender and often goes to the extreme. If you are a woman (judging from the screen name here) then I can imagine that it might be a little hard reading the book. Just keep in mind that it was written 40 years ago.

It got rightfully deleted. Feminism is not for equality. Look it up on if you insist. Here is the definition from wikipedia: "Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, and social rights for women." Cheers.

If you are going to go through with it, consider adding Doris Lessing: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2001/aug/14/edinburghfestival2001.edinburghbookfestival2001 Not only was she given a Nobel prize, but she is also a woman and many feminists regarded her as one of them for a long time.

My native is Lithuanian. We have genders for inanimate objects as well. Never heard of anyone attacking the syntax or trying to change the original "gender" implied by the syntax. Might be just a case for the English speaking part of the world. Another peculiar thing that I noticed only in English is unability to distinguish between formal you and informal you. (It used to have thou/thee some, but I never head anyone use that).

Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, and social rights for women. Straight from wikipedia. So feminism: defines what is equality, establishes it and fights for keeping it. And does this only for the benefit of women.
/r/MensRights14/12/12 02:40 AM

Sheer nonsense. Hero - is an exceptional person, typically a man, distinguished by his actions and accomplishments. Same thing.
/r/MensRights14/12/12 02:31 AM

/r/MensRights12/12/12 09:59 AM

Wait wait wait. I am having an moment of Eureka here. So some feminists say that the idea that men can't get raped comes from patriarchy. The idea that women should get custody and alimony comes from patriarchy. The idea that men should not hit women comes from patriarchy. Well a good bunch of feminists seem to support all those ideas with agendas, law propositions and shelters dedicated just for women. So what logically would follow in that case is: Feminism is patriarchy. And like everyone tha…

Men aren't some big mass group whose achievements are all your achievements by virtue of being male. Also women are not some big mass group whose sufferings are shared by all women by a virtue of being one. So everything you are brining up from the past is irrelevant by your own argument.
/r/MensRights01/12/12 11:31 AM

Personally I think there are a lot of misconceptions with "most of the feminists" "most of the MRA". It usually breaks down to "people I have met" or "people I know". To me feminism is defined by the kind of studies they have, the kind of books and articles they publish and the kind of laws they favour. This is feminism. Everything else is just a periphery. So personally I do not see a lot of similarities between the groups.

Well as much as I don't like the law - I am happy that there are people who would benefit from it :) But on the other side I remember all the families that will have to face increased life insurance. I don't know hot to react. It is a win for men. But it does not sound like it is a just or a moral win.
/r/MensRights29/11/12 09:36 PM

Running individual tests for each applicant is costly. Who would you think pay for that? Applicants themselves and no one else. Stereotypes are good. If someone does not like that they can freely choose different insurance company. Or start their own. (If someone thought individual test would be a good idea - they would have already done that and swept away the competition).
/r/MensRights29/11/12 09:17 PM

Well. Realistically people with life insurance usually have families. So they loose no matter what. Life insurance for MGTOW? Who are they planning to leave their money for? I don't think they even need life insurance. If you go into men vs women mode then yes, it's a win for men. To me it's non-issue being made into an issue. Like wage gap. There are probably a lot of factors that lead men to higher prices besides discrimination. Like men usually are the ones that start doing crazy shit, games …

You are going away because of the 3 things that you disagree with? I disagree with like 75% of MRA views. All the "social constructs of gender", "social pressures" and "bad looks in the park when around kids", "Portraying of men in media", "Fighting over definitions of rape and mutilation". Keep in mind that this subreddit is made of a quite wide range of age groups. And people in the far left of age distribution are the most vocal sometimes, because they have highest amounts of free time.

OK I will play the definition game with you. I enter "rape" in wikipedia for a definition. "Rape is a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse, which is initiated by one or more persons against another person without that person's consent. The act may be carried out by physical force, coercion, abuse of authority or with a person who is incapable of valid consent, such as one who is unconscious, incapacitated, or below the legal age of consent". Then I can say that the situati…
/r/MensRights24/11/12 06:19 PM

Do you reach out for this "exactitude" everywhere, or just on the topic of the definition of rape? I, for example, see people compared to Hitler or Stalin almost daily. Those should keep MRA quite busy if they would want to see analogies as an issue and apply consistency. Why should someone pick up on this blogger for a use of a word she felt was appropriate to describe the situation? And furthermore it has many similarities to rape. No consent, force, drugs, intimate parts of the body.
/r/MensRights24/11/12 05:54 PM

You want to play the game of definitions? I can kindly remind you that male on male rape can be viewed as not really a rape according to the real hardcore definition of rape because no-one can get pregnant by that.
/r/MensRights24/11/12 05:41 PM

I have no problem calling this "rape" to stress the importance. If you do - you can protest, I guess. What would you win by that?
/r/MensRights24/11/12 05:35 PM

A pregnant woman is carrying a child of some man. Therefore any misconduct to her or the baby also affects the man. To me - any genuine injustice that women face while they are with a man is also an issue of men.
/r/MensRights24/11/12 05:14 PM

Doctors don't get severe punishments for medical misconducts and there are several reasons for that. Most important being that not just anyone can replace a doctor and there might be a shortage of them. So any doctor is better than no doctor. Hardly anything good ever would come from your mother suing that doctor.
/r/MensRights24/11/12 04:38 PM

If we can add "genital mutilation" on circumcision to draw more attention to the serious issue. Then women can add "rape" to something as awful as this.
/r/MensRights24/11/12 04:13 PM

To me this does sound more serious then "drunk-rape". I agree that this is a women's issue. (not kidding)

My first thought was: sampling bias. If you will only survey your friends - then you won't be able to generalize your results to the entire population. Man, come on :) I was trying to say that there is nothing really to move forward here. As far as I see we have limited options: 1) Start getting butt-hurt whenever a man is portrayed as a criminal 2) Try to censor TV and adds 3) Let it go. Throughout all the films main villains always were male. Same for all the main heroes by the way. Just like in this add - rapists are men, policemen are men, security workers are men. That was my point. I got dragged into the discussion about feeling of securi…
/r/MensRights05/11/12 01:45 AM

In a sense, yes. Men are looking for women who make them feel safe emotionally, and personally. I agree. Also men want fidelity. That is another type of security. But these types of safety are not related to the context of the security adds the OP posted. I was trying to refer to safety as physical safety. Hope it will be clearer now.

Why is it natural that women always feel more insecure? This, I think without being an ass about it, is self evident. Anecdotally you can for example google "what women look for in a man" and you are very likely to find "feeling safe" somewhere in there. but I hope you or someone understands why I think this is misandric.... /r/MensRights04/11/12 05:54 PM

Fair point. What I am getting at is that it is a little weird for me to see MRA opposing feminist and at the same time in parallel buying into all the pseudo-science it spreads. If asked I would bet half the community would say that gender is a social-construct. This is feminism, not against feminism. On reflection I would say that this is my main concern.
/r/MensRights04/11/12 04:39 PM

There's nothing about having a penis that necessitates liking match box cars and not barbies; conversely there's nothing about having a vagina that necessitates a girl liking cooking and not liking war video games. Exercises like these create and reinforce the idea that possession of a penis is necessary for liking certain things and a vagina is neces…
/r/MensRights04/11/12 11:23 AM

I disagree for a few reasons. First being that a tiny test is not "reinforcing" to submit to stereotypes. This in my opinion is an over-reaction by MRA. Also if kids play at school together they are already pretty aware of boy-games and girl-games and how they are divided. And if there will be some boys who like dolls - they are already "pressured". Basically in my opinion all this "pressure" idea is highly overrated. If someone is thinking that by giving some silly test he can shape a child per…

/r/MensRights04/11/12 11:12 AM

Yup. I watched the picture again. This time zoomed in. If the line on the bottom was written by a teacher then it is close to a kind of indoctrination. But I still think that a tiny test like this will not have any influence on what kind of toys a particular kid will choose.
/r/MensRights04/11/12 01:58 AM

Yes and I agree with you on that. There are many neutral toys. And also there are boys that want to play dolls and girls that want to play with robots. Also probably most of those boys play "rip this doll's head out" and girls play robot-family. But I would say that this is going into details a little too much. What I am for is letting the kid choose. But what I am against is pushing children to choose toys that they might not like as much. Or to try to hide certain information from them by bann…
/r/MensRights04/11/12 01:32 AM

And I think that it is NOT largely a social construct. Even IQ, smoking and character are mainly influenced by genetics, not social constructs (according to research). On one hand someone might not want to reinforce something, to let those girls that want to play with robots be able to do it and boy that want to play house - also be able to do it. But on the other hand we might also want our kids to learn something about gender differences. I see nothing tragic about that.
/r/MensRights04/11/12 01:18 AM

Completely agree. There are many articles (scientific and not) saying that toy preferences for young children are somewhat inherited. Also you can ask any parent who has both boys and girls and they will say that toy preference is inherited. The confusion often only comes from people that have no children and those feminists who hate reality and wish they were living in their fantasy lands. People pushing boys to play with barbies or girls to play with trucks might not be having the best interes…

/r/MensRights03/11/12 08:23 PM

This objectification and men being stimulated visually thing is hard to explain to any single woman let alone a feminist. Just think about the "clothing has nothing to do with rape" ideas. Which to me is a little sad. I wonder if there are similar things that men don't understand or refuse to understand about women. While this is possibly true, it does not change the logic behind my argument. If it is possible for men to have children with young women/girls - how can it be a mental disorder? In fact nature selects for it. As men grow older they become attracted to younger and younger girls. Same for women. This is because old sperm/egg need younger counterpart to have higher chances of healthy offspring. And the opposite is sometimes true as well - younger people want sex with someone older. The question is…
/r/MensRights02/11/12 09:15 PM

Girls are capable of having children once they have their first period. The social construct saying that it is only normal to have sexual-acts beyond certain age is just that. If we were to change this age to say 24 - would sexual attraction to 20 year olds become a mental condition?

Mental disorder is a quite fluid term. One needs to remember that back in the day black enslaved people were said to have a mental disorder for not obeying their masters. The cure was - corporal punishment. Wiki source Also lobotomies. Never forget those as well. Accepted as medical practice in the entire world. Wiki source Even if mildly related to mens rights - the importance of fighting these thing is titanic. Since this is (as I have heard) third rejection in a row, there is a possibility so…

This subreddit is for MensRights. I believe egalitarians have their separate spaces. The issues of women are not really discussed here. However I don't think there is a greater sub representing the issues that men face today than this one. In my opinion this might be a good place for you to lurk, indulge in conversations and hear this side of the fence. But not a good place to promote feminism. As this thread grows older you will get many more different replies.

I know that many women who have gone through similar situations describe the giving in as a self preservation thing. Kind of like its mentally easier for them at the time to give in than it is to push the person off of you over and over again and to deal with their reaction. And in another thread another feminists are probably talking about how women are not seen as assertive or capable to stand for themselves. And blame men for this "double standard". Don't you see the irony?

We have a lot of emigration to UK and Ireland as it is :) I don't agree with over-privatization as well (like private prisons and forced health insurance from private companies like they have in U.S.A.) Those just seem to be weird for me. But Europe is probably going the same path... One such thing I can find is forced car insurance and there are no government insurance agencies.
/r/MensRights26/10/12 04:20 PM

Healthcare is very expensive. Imagine you have a condition for which you need a prescription of medicine on a regular basis. Perhaps even for the rest of your life. This would cost hundreds of whatever currency every time. Maybe even thousands. Most people can't afford it. Even basic surgery can cost in the hundreds of thousands. Most people don't have that kind of money lying around. They don't have money because they pay taxes for everything they do not need. Sure when their time comes - they …

Because it's a tax on healthy people.
/r/MensRights26/10/12 03:31 PM

I would disagree with this. There are several work-arounds in my opinion. 1) and the best in my opinion - Ask for clear consent before doing anything like that. 2) offer money to participants - you would get lines of them I believe. 3) if medical students think it's not big deal - why can't they simply learn on each other? Further I would say that it preselects medical students in some wicked sense. What I have in mind here is that those students who disagree to participate in such a practice wo…

To me it looks like just a by-product of growing. This phase transition is known as "regression toward the mediocrity". Many subreddits are fighting with it. So you have reddit then /r/trueReddit then /r/trueTrueReddit. /r/depthHub and etc. The key point for me is not to give up to the reasoning of the crowd, stay true to yourself and expose flaws in logic once you see them.
/r/MensRights26/10/12 04:53 AM

I don't know about birth-rape, but there are some medical practices which can be considered "rape". As a medical insider, can you comment on this?: http://patientmodesty.org/nonconsensualexams.aspx Is this general practice and is it justifiable?

I really want to add the angle of evo-psych here for some reason. In it there are two things that drive such behaviour: sexual conflict and paternity uncertainty. So the argument is like this: Father should always be sceptical about him being a father and so it is in the mothers interest to prove that the baby is indeed his. She does that by pointing out to as many similarities between the baby and the father as she can find. And if she can't find them - she tries to make them.
/r/MensRights24/10/12 02:27 PM

To me racism is discrimination with no reason. If there is a reason (like: black people hypothetically are worse drivers) then it's not racism. It would be reality.

Nice post. I would like to add that many people who consider censorship of the internet don't acknowledge to themselves the the internet is simply a reflection of human culture. If there are child-pornography on the internet, that means something is doing it and uploading it. Censoring it won't make that stuff go away. Plus after SOPA and PIPA and the like I am inclined to believe that there are "higher" pressures pushing for control of the internet.

Forced insurance is another issue. Yet it's probably even a bigger issue than equal prices. So I agree with You. But I think in the end it will hurt women. Just like equal health insurance might hurt men (if women were the ones who visit doctors more frequently or have more medical issues).
/r/MensRights24/10/12 02:32 AM

Yes, but nothing has to be fair. If the insurance companies are inflating the price for men then I think they have a reason beyond being sexist to men. And they generalize in many ways already. Drivers that have more experience pay less. That is not fair for those who have a talent. And it is not fair for those who drive every day, why should they wait a few years... I don't think "generalization" is an argument here. Plus it is not fair to women. If companies are forced to offer the service for…

So many logical mistakes. The one that stood out was "Government treats all people the same, but not all behaviours the same, so same-sex marriages can be banned"... Let's see where we can get with that argument. We can ban pregnancy and still treat all people the same, we can ban wearing skirts, we can ban having long hair. Does not mean it will be all right! And it does not even mean all people will be treated the same.

I think it's not just biology vs society. One has to understand that society is a part of biology. It is kind of a next step in evolution. Genetic lines that started to cooperate at some point probably had a much better chance to survive. That's why talk about society that is not rooted in biological needs of individual agents lack context. Looking through this prism the question would become: is it possible to erase the observed behaviour by changing society? If no - it's hard-wired. If yes - t…

What if you didn't ask for it? What if you woke up and it had been done to you? Then it's rape. In my country is not illegal to have sex with drunken person. So there is a difference. Re the killing a drunk person - it would be a crime because killing is a crime regardless if someone asks or not. Having sex is not a crime when someone asks. So here is the difference between these.
/r/MensRights22/10/12 12:46 AM

So, if you are really drunk at a bar and wake up the next morning with a sore butthole in some stranger's bed, that's not possible rape? That's just your fault for being too drunk? If I got drunk and then started asking strangers to do me it the butthole - then of course it is my fault. It is not illegal to be drunk in a bar. It is also not illegal to have sex with someone who is asking for it.
/r/MensRights22/10/12 12:32 AM

To me it still seems to take the blame away from the one who is doing the silliest thing and who is the most guilty. Being the person who knows he is not in control of himself when he is drunk but decides to get drunk anyway. I personally would say that the responsibility is solely with the person who is drinking, not everyone else around him.

Good response, I upvote You. The way males and females react to rape might be very different and probably is. I just disagree with that drinking statement you made. It seems to me that you are suggesting that women should be excused of responsibility when they are drinking. Of course I am not talking about black-out drunk. I think only a very low percentage of women actually experience rape in their lifetime. So it leaves a lot of females out of all the action. And so they want to stretch the definitions wide to include as much of them as possible. By having broad definition of rape you can give certain benefits to more women. They muddy water for a few of course, but on the other hand get more place in that same water for others. So they care about women. They probably just don't care about rape that much.

I will post my thought about that study: 1st - If someone shows that professors favour males - that does not show that females are oppressed! You can take the results and say anything you want, including "Women are oppressed" or "Professors have a bad past with women and so they want males". 2nd There might be hidden biases: 1) Any study not showing differences would probably not even be published. So the fact that there is one study showing something might be just a natural outlier in a higher …

Well. But for me it still sounds better than having private hospitals and medical insurance companies and still forcing everyone to have that insurance. Or having private universities and then requiring a degree to get a job. Can we compare socialism with capitalism when in reality there is no pure-social or pure-capitalist country? There is something called anarcho-socialism but I haven't heard of that. And we are very off-topic now :)
/r/MensRights25/09/12 10:16 PM

OK. You lost me there. There are countries with higher level of socialism (France, Sweden, Norway) than Baltic states, are there not? And they are doing way better than more capitalist countries in terms of standard of living and equality (genie index). In fact they are the very first in the world. I am all for socialism in some areas (like education, health, police, etc). In other cases you will have universities with high fees, so high that young women are forced to prostitute themselves for a…

To clarify about retirement age: "http://www.sodra.lt/index.php?cid=182&new_id=21574" There is a table on the bottom that shows that retirement ages for women will be increased more steadily and in 2026 retirement age will be equal for men and women. He is still disposable and a man who is of no use to society or to women is deemed …

I have read that Lithuania has a high emmigration rate. Is that true? Yes it is true. I think the rate is slowly decreasing and was highest 3-4 years ago, but not so sure about that. The vast amount of emigrants are people who are finishing schools and were not able to find a job or to get a degree in higher education. Majority of emigrants go to UK and Ireland and from what I've heard they are doing quite a mess there. They increase the crime rate, steal, etc. So much that there was a warning w…

Yup we were last pagans (according to my history lessons). I like that fact :) However there is a little hypocrisy in those history lessons. For example in early middle ages all the battles against Christians were praised and all the Dukes of Lithuania are honoured for staying strong. But when one of those Dukes gave up to the Christians he was also praised by history books for "converting" the nation and uniting with Europe... Nowadays there still are some underground pagan movements, they have…

Here you make one assumption: That "getting shit done" is better than "time wasting". This is probably true for most industry/corporate workers but should not be easily extended to artists or academics. By only "getting shit done" one can forget to think, step back and observe the bigger picture. And what about philosophers and mathematicians? They hardly ever get anything done. Have to agree to a certain extent. But where I live the haircuts for men always start at a certain level and haircuts for women typically always start at least 1.5x times more. So even if women is going for simple shortening of her hair - she will probably still pay more. Talking about clothing - it is true that t-shirts and jeans cost aprox. the same amount for both. But the specialized stuff, like underwear, socks and skirts typically costs more for women (in my limited experience at least). A…

my take on summary of this article: "It's time we ditched having character, dreams and sense of achievement. Surely those things can't help women clean the houses and take care of children! Instead of being free and doing what you want to do without worrying about the opinion of others - just settle down and try to leave something for your kids." Since when banality, safety and mediocrity became the highest values of mankind?
/r/MensRights24/09/12 12:17 AM

I fail to see any kind of evidence or example of an actual manipulation anywhere in his theory. Women are forced to lie about the amount of sex they want. They probably want sex. But not with just about anyone. And not without a guarantee of protection. They don't have as much sex because they want to keep the "price" of sex high. Well maybe because the consequences of pregnancy (something that the sex is for) are much higher for females. Women punish sexually open females. Well most of men woul…

It's just saying that being over-aware is also a bad thing since the tests are not 100% accurate. The more unnecessary screening will be done - the more false positives will occur. From the other angle: U.S.A. is the only country that have used nukes on civilian cities. It's a little sad that at the moment there is no alliance strong enough to take all the WMDs out of U.S.A. To be honest I still hold my opinion that men do it more often than women (talking about real rape, not the U.S.A. definition). But that might be changing with the current laws some countries are proposing or the social structure in general. But we are off topic now. The topic was about "don't dress like a whore" being a bad advice. Because we expect humans not to act like animals. But we just agreed that humans act like animals. So it must be a good advice!
/r/MensRights06/09/12 09:36 PM

Think of it as "what were you thinking" type of thing. For example: You have nice a car. You leave it in a dark corner of the city unlocked. Someone steals your car. Is saying that you should not leave the car unlocked equals victim blaming? It's like "you left the car unlocked? what were you thinking?" Same with rape. You start walking nude in the forests where heroin addicts hang out. You get raped. Is saying that you should not have done that victim blaming? It's like "you walked nude at nigh…

I've been in that situation. Not rape or cheat, but going along with it even though I don't want to because I'm scared of the repercussions. That's where my understanding of women ends. :) Or men who also do this. To me it sounds like having a weakness somewhere in character. That's why instead of a person waiting for their partner to say no they should ask questions and get a clear yes before proceeding. If someone starts the proceeding and the other does not object - that would be one big yes …

I am not an official member of MRM (not active), but I very much share some of their views. I think women can freely post here, why "I shouldn't be posting here" attitude? There are even women who are active in MRM. I think you will get the warmest of welcomes. Sad to hear what happened to you and hope you are doing better. Majority of this community are very much against, not promoting rape, despite what feminism would say. What MRM is against is false-rape and drunk-sex-and-regret-as-rape. Unt…

I was basically arguing the same thing a few months ago on /r/relationships I think. Was downvoted way down to hell of course. There were a lot of posters that came asking the question which can be averaged to "I got drunk with some guy, we started talking about sex, he began to undress me, I did not want to be rude but I was against it, we had sex. I regretted it and wanted to stop in the middle but was afraid to be rude again, also I kind of enjoyed it as well. Was I raped or did I cheat?". No…

There are studies saying that schizophrenics are less violent than an average person when controlled for substance abuse. Just wanted to do justice to schizophrenics. And I agree with the rest of your comment.

I am not sure there would be any reliefs. What I was getting at is that the wishes those women have are not their own or in other words - they are conditioned. For example cigarets were once considered a symbol of male dominance and there was a taboo for women to smoke cigarets. And then it all changed so that women smoking cigarets were portrayed as free and empowered. But the transition from "symbol of male power" to "symbol of female freedom" was not done by society. In fact this was a market…

I very much disagree with forcing women to dress in certain ways. To me that is a clear indication of males controlling their jealousy. But came here to ask you opinion about this: Imagine if all the laws were gone in some Muslim country. I don't think we would see a sudden increase in nude women walking on the street because the conditioning of the society would still be there. And in countries like US people don't have such strict rules, but the conditioning of society in my opinion is even st…

I see your point. But at the same time I see that you are for some reason offended by my opinions. Sorry, man, didn't want to start hostile arguments. I agree that rape is unjust, bad, and should be dealt with. Just don't agree that suggesting to take precautions (as dress less modestly) is victim blaming. Telling a man to protect his Lamborghini by locking it and not leaving it at dark corners of suburbs is not victim blaming the same way. If you don't agree that under-dressed women is bigger p…

Theories are constructed by merging the evidence and facts into one body. To say it's "merely a theory" is not doing justice to what a theory is. As a common example of this - gravity is (only) a theory. No, evolution favors men who are able to "get" women. Evolutionarily speaking, women are less likely to keep children who are the products of rape. There is a thing called "paternity uncertainty". Often women cannot know for sure whos the child is. There were even studies that stated that the ch…

Well here we disagree. I think evolutionary psychology has the larger base of evidence than all the other branches of psychology combined. Here is the view I am putting forward: Men who are unable to get women have the only chance to have offspring - rape. So evolution favors rape. At the same time women who are not aware of the signals they are sending are at a higher chance to have an (post-rape) offspring. So evolution favors women who are ignorant of mens intentions and what turned them on. …

Don't wear a miniskirt is also a sane advice for someone who is afraid of rape. Some evolutionary psychologists put it this way: "Young women should be informed that, during the evolution of human sexuality, the existence of female choice has favored men who are quickly aroused by signals of a female's willingness to grant sexual access. Furthermore, women need to realize that, because selection favored males who had many mates, men tend to read signals of acceptance into a woman's actions even …

Just came to say that Dawkins was not the main figure behind this "selfish gene" stuff. Hamilton was regarded as a poor lecturer. This shortcoming would not affect the popularity of his work, however, as it was popularised by Richard Dawkins in Dawkins' 1976 book The Selfish Gene. Just wanted to give credit where it's due.

Most IQ tests are constructed so that there are no overall score differences between females and males.[91] Because environmental factors affect brain activity and behavior, where differences are found, it can be difficult for researchers to assess whether or not the differences are innate. Areas where differences have been found include verbal and mathematical ability. One can construct an IQ test in such a way so it favors women. Also it can be constructed so that it favors men. And that is wh…
