Yes I believe British men are having a tough time. I'm old now, 34, but feeling stuck, low on motivation, and unsure what direction life is heading has been my experience over the last 20 years. When I was growing up I observed the women in my family who are single mothers and the way they interact and treat people, including men, but especially their own children. As a result I have no hesitation in saying I consider it a negative thing. Then in my early 20s I was foolish enough to enter into a relationship with a single mother and it was awful. Never again. Brits (and Kiwis) don't need a visa. We automatically qualify for the 90 in 180 day Shengen rule.
