Ha- yeah, in this town there are a lot of couples basically queering heterosexuality with identity labels, yeah. Both of them are AFAB, though. I don’t know if they actually had a physical affair. I’m certain there was at least an emotional affair- a pretty brazen one, even. So it won’t freak potential dates out, you think, if I’m open about seeking a long term relationship and a family? I guess that makes sense. It does feel awkward, though, almost like we’d be like the few people finding each …

You know, you're right. It's later for me in my life than I expected to be single, but I'm surrounding myself in friends through my music and my work in the community, and there's a good chance I'll find someone in that work who wants to build a life with me and who will probably treat me with a lot more affection and consideration than my ex. I just spent most of my day building garden beds with a big group of men and women my age who are helping me turn my yard into a garden for their food she…

I suppose that's true. I'm much less angry than I was two weeks ago. I'm trying to get there.

Well, I hope so. It's been six weeks since they left. I don't know how to date, at all. I find myself driving to and from construction sites in my truck just saying out loud all sort of hurt, angry things I stopped myself from saying over the years because I was her caretaker, and didn't feel I could snap at her.

No. I am now a childless man in my 30s trying to start over after my former spouse, who said for out entire marriage that she wanted children (and even asked me if I did before she agreed to marry) left me after falling into a BPD "new favorite person" fixation (like, to the point of being an emotional affair, if not a physical one- and I have my suspicions of it being a physical one) of a trans boy she met in college and deciding she needed to transition, renounce her plans for motherhood, and …

I stopped wearing my wedding ring during my first year of marriage when it almost degloved me. It's still in my wallet, a little bent from where the machine caught it, and the scar is still on my finger and will be for life. I'm kind of wondering if I should get it repaired now. I took my marriage seriously and never abandoned my vows even when her treatment of me became very hard to bear. It's a beautiful silver ring with Gaelic traditional designs.

Having the advice and support of your sisters, female friends and relatives, is nice in a divorce. A lot of women actually care about making sure their male friends don't get totally wrecked during divorces.

She stopped caring a long time ago. She was performing care because women are expected to. She has moved past. What will you do? Bitterness is not the answer. Love yourself and learn to love with new boundaries.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
