Any response to my response or are you just going to vanish?

I think you misinterpreted what I was saying. I wasn't just talking about women who "dress up" and wear sexy outfits, I was talking about women's clothing in general, which when compared with men's clothing shows off far more skin. To understand what I was talking about, imagine going to a train or something and pick out any woman in jeans, anybody basically...Then do the same for a man, any man in jeans...Now put these two imaginary people side by side in thought. Ok. Now, who is wearing tighte…

Your conclusion is irrational and an attempt to prove something which is an obvious delusion. I never said covering up makes you immune from harassment, or that it lowers your chances to zero or even that it lowers your chances to being equal to that of a man's chances of being harassed. What I said was that it decreases your CHANCES of being harassed. I person who does not wave their wallet around in the air is less likely to be robbed but it doesn't make them immune from being robbed. This is …

I never said women who cover up don't get harassed! I claimed wommen who wear tighter fitting more revealing clothing are MORE LIKELY to be harassed

This is truly a great analogy. Both sexuality and money can produce value. And the analogy holds.

Why did I get voted down? I AGREED with her! Lol. I just said it's not a false dilemma and that both could be true at the same time. The social costs for men to show skin can be greater than for women AND the benefits of showing skin for women can be higher for women than men at the same time. Ehhh...reddit and this crappy voting system.

You have an interesting point but my main focus in addressing this was to point out that dressing like a slut isn't an issue of equality (because men don't dress like sluts, this isn't an issue of achieving equality but of something else). I also wanted to just point out that the market for women's clothing does not reflect a condition where sexual harassment is a problem for women to the degree where the costs of wearing revealing clothing (sexual harassment) outweigh the benefits (narcissistic…

I am not claiming harassment is undefinable. I merely stated that it is not well defined, so it's hard to make claims about it. Well, I think in general, we can imagine it to be something which would make us feel highly uncomfortable (like imagine someone staring at you in the train...not for a few seconds, like obsessively staring in a scary way or someone exposing themselves or following you or giving you cat calls) without being outright assault. I think this is a good general explanation. It…

That's true, there are exceptions, but: A) In general B) Relative to women This is not the case.

And it's true that you enjoy looking sexy for your husband. so, you are choosing to appear this way because you enjoy it. this enjoyment, to you, and the benefits you obtain from it (you have agency, it's not your husband who is responsible for your actions, despite the fact that you are doing it "for him") outweigh the costs (possible ogling, etc)... This is basically exactly what I am saying. The benefits you receive in feeling sexy for your husband outweigh the costs of being cat called or ha…

On this specific point, they are fighting to be able to wear what they want, free from harassment, and this is an area where they actually generally support equality, believe that men should also be able to wear what they want. Yeah but that's not fighting for equality relative to men, that's fighting for fashion freedom and simultaneously fighting for equality in achieving that fashion freedom. They are two very different issues. And to attempt to merge them together is sleight of hand. I guess…

I do think that's an additional explanation not an alternative (both can be true at the same time). And I agree...but still, relative to men however women are indeed benefiting from this behavior in such a way that it's benefits outweigh it's costs. It's basically a certainty. If they were not benefiting from this behavior and they were being harassed, they would rapidly abandon skin tight clothing and revealing clothing we would see loose fitting clothing and heavy drab overcoats as women's pre…

I don't think the analogy, which your criticism centers around, holds up. Here's why: Being old versus being young is not a choice. Clothing options are a choice. And unless they can prove that they have been forced or exploited somehow, which is not applicable here since women can choose from a virtually endless array of clothing options, it is a demonstrably true statement to say it is a choice that women make. Being old is simply not a choice one can make. Let's imagine a twilight zone episod…

This is a false dilemma, a tactic used by feminists alongside argument to the person and begging the question, etc...typical childish arguments, transparent to anyone with basic intelligence.

The issue isnt about teaching male or female figures, its about teaching the issues women face RELATIVE to men and excluding the teaching of issues men face RELATIVE to women. Adding women to history lessons isn't womens studies, it's just history which focuses on a gender which is responsible for doing very little right along side a gender which basically did everything. So its just gender neutral history. Often people do this, they think because history focuses mostly on men that it's men's st…

In this persons defense, i dont think its trolling to challenge majority opinion, as long as you are being polite and rational... however this person is definitely a troll because they are arguing like a sophist. For instance, appeals to the majority, begging the question, straw man arguments, taking the argument to the person with things like ad hominem, rather than the issues being discussed and whether or not they are well reasoned and backed by evidence, etc...this is how a sophist argues. A…

This statement is too abstract and ironically defends the status quo. To just throw this clipped quote out there like this, especially in the context of mens rights, is sort of an appeal to authority and the statement is nothing but pure abstraction. It doesn't respond to the specific issues being brought up by men's rights, it's just this amorphous, overly simplistic abstract argument. And posting this to mens rights is just a cryptic form of begging the question. really a base argument, thick …

A lot of women do just that, actually. Relative to men, there are not a lot of women who dress down. If the harassment of women were a problem where the costs outweighed the benefits we would see women dressing way down and demanding that sexual harassment come to an end. We would not see women dressing up in skin tight clothing showing off skin, which I see all the time when I walk outside. The market simply does not agree with your assessment of reality. Apparently there is something women are…

Think about what you are saying for a moment. You are implying that there is NO CORRELATION between what a woman wears and whether or not she is more likely to be harassed. That is completely and totally idiotic beyond all possible belief. I have three sisters and I can ASSURE YOU that it is correlated and anyone with a functional brain and five seconds of experience in our culture would know this as well. Are you trying to say a woman with big breasts who wears a skin tight shirt and walks arou…

First of all, you ignored this persons whole post essentially because it "creates problems"?... I'd say it does, this analogy tore up your whole argument. It creates problems for you. Secondly, are you saying approaching women in private is better than in public and not harassment? harassment has nothing to do with public/private, it's about whether the person is or is not interested in you. If girls were asking me out all the time it would be harassment if they would not leave me alone...not if…

Yeah...so explain the booty shorts ive seen all summer? According to you these poor women are being harassed on a regular basis right? One would think BOOTY SHORTS would be the last clothing choice on earth that a person under this mentality would make...but your theory and the real world don't conform. Your theory is not backed by empirical data. The evidence shows that your theory makes no sense. Because, whatever negative X is taking place, a positive Y is outweighing the costs of x. Here is …

I always find this critique of male sexuality to be interesting, especially when you compare female clothing choices to male clothing choices...lets say what you are saying is true and that women are harassed on a daily basis to a point of making their lives miserable and that men weren't...well then it would follow that it would be women who would be making clothing choices which are highly conservative and covered up wouldn't it? It would be women wearing nothing but baggy blue jeans, a white …
