Probably true in some cases but not so much in others. A lot of times it makes more sense to pay someone else to do it. Pay someone $60 per hour for something that takes an hour because they are experienced or spend 3-4 hours figuring it out yourself and hoping you got it right. That's $15-20 per hour, if you have a decent job w/overtime or run your own business you're simply costing yourself money. But most don't understand basic math. If you enjoy fixing things sure it's a different story but I couldn't give a shit if blowhards judge me for paying…
