We need an upgrade to the quality of people. We could do with less hate but there will always be shitty people like you. “The theme of this century” I think you’re retarded. You just might need to learn more words lmao you’re just admitting to being poorly read.

Privilege is a large-scale analysis of a society, not an individual’s lived experience. It also generally applies to a lack of problems that are caused specifically by your sex/gender, rather than benefits that you receive. What you’re saying is that racism doesn’t exist because there are wealthy minorities. Like yeah, it doesn’t apply to every individual person, but that rich person probably faced some sort of race-based issues at some point, and collectively their cohort was more likely to hav…

I can’t believe you wrote all of that, and rooted it in Standpoint Theory of all things. That is definitely not what modern feminist theory is built on, so that is an absolutely crazy non starter. Even if that were the case, you acknowledge that there have been several subsequent waves of feminism. Even if they were wrong 100 years ago, it has developed significantly since then. Your argument parallels an argument against modern physics, with you claim being “Bohr’s model wasn’t right, and physi…

Those viewpoints don’t align with feminism, though. You misconceive feminism if you believe that those are mainstream opinions. Those are very obviously extremist, fringe opinions. If you want to believe that is what feminists believe, you’d be wrong, and any time you’re arguing with someone and say “look at this insane shit that you believe”, nobody is going to take you seriously because you’re building a strawman out of the most batshit things you’ve heard and applying it to a massive populati…

Is that really all that you have to say for yourself? Every time I come here, I address points, then every reply is the biggest deflection I have ever seen. This is not about how people see you, but I did have the opportunity to explain why things are the way they are and why people don’t engage with you. And you have jack shit to say. It’s like you know you’re wrong, but you don’t want to have the conversation with yourself because if you change your views, it’s basically like admitting that yo…

I mean, the fact that you’re discounting an entire field of study without having done a single bit of reading, claiming that you completely understand it, seems pretty insane. That would apply to any field. I was mostly asking to find out whether or not you would understand more complicated terms and expressions, because I don’t want to waste my time. I’m guessing that people tend to not engage with you because it’s straight up just not worth it. It’s like trying to convince a flat-earther that …

There is nothing ironic about that. Unless you meant to use a different word there.

If you actually think that feminists believe what you’re talking about, you’re attacking a strawman. Actually now that I think about it, this subreddit is like 90% strawman arguments that either miss crucial points or are ignorant of the world. What you demonstrate here is a severe gap in feminist education. And yet you speak so confidently. There is almost 0% that you’ve completed any books on feminist theory. This is a kind of terminally online that from my perspective, seems extremely sad.

Yet it prefers to be an easy resource for misogyny most of the time. Plenty of misinformation, the “goals” do not mirror the reality.

You are not entitled to a point by point breakdown when you provide so many points and they are mostly garbage. That’s a waste of my time and it’s not my job to fix the world. You’re right, I’m not interested. The content demonstrates a fundamental misunderstand of what privilege really means and how it impacts you vs how it impacts people of different backgrounds. I think that you have a lot to learn but I also get the indication that you are pretty young. I’m not some random hater on the inter…

When have white men not protected white women? You mean the group of people that were basically not allowed to work most jobs nor open a credit card in their own name (without permission) until recently?

You need help, OP. Idk what. Probably therapy. Or maybe talk to more women irl. Normal people don’t post online like this nor at this volume.

It was written in 1848. If your criticisms have to go back that far, they are very weak points. We are extremely far removed from that. It also states “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and women are created equal” so your point is not well-made.

Right. All of those female law makers that were leading our nation 100 years ago really bungled that one. You explanation does not withstand scrutiny when you realize that those achievements only happened when women petitioned men to allow them to vote. They were petitioning to equality, they did not actually implement it. The draft is a weak point, also, because it doesn’t actually, meaningfully impact anyone’s lives. And also because feminists want equality there. There are real issues to addr…

Feminism is rooted in equality. The name merely recognizes a historical discrepancy between the sexes. Feminism absolutely does not include misandry by its definition, and these are the kinds of comments that drive people away from subreddits like this. If someone puts down or attacks men, that is not feminist. These are not productive or appealing hills to die on.

I mixed this up with another story - not extremely old! But still, jumping to conclusions is dangerous and how we get witch hunts. I personally avoid discussions that are based in identity politics because I feel that is not very productive, but I’m sure there are tons of bad takes out there.

I agree that even if he declined the hospital, the woman would be at fault if her actions caused that man’s death. The problem here is exactly what you’ve stated: the experts who actually looked into the evidence and details of this case say that she didn’t cause his death. Does someone on Reddit have information that these people don’t? Labeling her a murderer might be presumptuous, but yeah the sentence for the attack itself is pretty damn light. There is a world where an extremely old person …

Did y’all read the article? The guy refused to go to the hospital, died after the fact, and several medical experts concluded that the woman had no part in the man’s death. What is the evidence that supports the fact that the woman is a ‘murderer’? Can anyone here properly cite a cause of death, or are we just yelling into an echo chamber? There are plenty of issues in the world. Let’s make sure that this is actually one of them.

ITT: STEM circle jerk where people have no idea what jobs are actually available outside of their field. Society would be so much fun if everyone majored in engineering, wouldn’t it? In the real world, your degree doesn’t define your job.

As stated many times, feminism has never been an equality movement. It's a progressive movement for the equal rights of women.

Hey it's cool that you assume that you know more than me for some reason but changing the name from feminism to something else doesn't really mean anything since you're misinterpreting the definition of feminism even though you're aware of the fact that you can Google it. Doesn't matter. I think that the distinction I'm making is important because it is easy to call out people who already identify as feminist yet are not fighting for equality for all. If it becomes well known that this shouldn't…

Most of the feminists I have met that go to my university understand that it is an issue for everyone. There are many people who believe that, but even if they are the majority, you may be hearing more from the radical/new wave whatever vocal minority who do not share the same values as the movement has historically held.

NEED to call them out? What do you think I'm talking about right now? Also: if, for example, someone calls themselves a Christian and tells that to everyone and commits terrible acts in, what they claim to be the name of Christianity, yet have never read any scriptures, been to a mass, and just flat out don't know the first thing about Christianity whatsoever. Can you honestly say that they are even if they do not share the same beliefs that the organization has held for its entire history? No t…

I am being told to educate myself on fallacies, yet have to explain the fact that just because something can have a fallacy applied to it, assuming that the original statement is false because of this application is a fallacy in and of itself.

It may not be point by point, but it summarizes the history of the movement, which for over 100 years has been equality.

Merrian-Webster's definition of feminism is "the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes". The name of it is only based in history, since women have historically not been given rights on par with men. Call it equality if you want, it's the same thing.

you've just committed the Fallacy fallacy, r/MensRights favorite logical error in large part due to the ridiculous amount of times it happens on this sub. please educate yourself on why this is a logical mistake, and apply that knowledge to the future so you can say less things that are obviously wrong. the entirety of our species appreciates you trying to be a better person :)

The fact that this is being downvoted is obscene. I made a statement about an ideology which still holds true. Just because you can apply a fallacy to something doesn't mean that it is automatically false. If I called myself a pacifist then went on a killing spree for no good reason, am I a pacifist?

Feminism is a push towards equality. Any individual group that uses the banner of feminism to attack the rights of men or anyone else is not feminist, no matter what they call themselves.
