If Gawker was actually worried about misogyny it would be roasting the places where it's so vulgar and so regular it's almost beyond being caricatured, namely rap culture. But nope. Gawker quietly doles out the usual "minority passes" and just hounds out whoever is explicitly opposed to its ideological sympathies. Color me not surprised.

You know, I never thought I'd say this, but: "Wow. Just wow."

Rape culture isn't half as damaging as violence culture among men in general. It puts us in hospital, in jail, on the street and generally fucks us up, and happens far more often than rape, yet in the midst of all this we're supposed to be putting women's house in order before everything else. Naturally this is because of biology - we're hardwired to be more concerned about women's safety, but we have to look to ourselves too.

Yeah, this is satire. Sad thing is there's a slight, just a tiny bit of me, that thinks it's maybe either true or that there's somebody exactly like this somewhere in the world.

Seems like GWW has been a bit too successful. The disposable male video has like 360,000 views, and is one of the first things people see when they search youtube for "Feminism". I would actually be genuinely surprised if Feminists embarked on a harassment campaign against GWW. For the moment I get the impression they probably want to just get GWW off-side because they want to control what people see. Look at Urban Dictionary and the "definitions" of things like "misandry" there. Having said tha…

I agree, should definitely be more black MRAs. Sadly, I'd say the overlap of the MRM with some rightwing politics puts them off. Now I think the MRM should appeal across the political alignment, but some MRAs do bring in outside issues to the MRM, like Feminism being a plot to diminish the white race or whatever. In my own opinion black people find themselves in a complicated position. There was actually a Gallup survey a few years back here which said that black democrats are actually much clos…

People, humans are physically incapable of processing information without introducing a bias. I understand that's true up to a point. But, I don't think that justifies simply letting your biases run rampant. You can at least strive to eliminate them, and even though you'll not succeed entirely I daresay you'll end up being a bit fairer than the average SRS Feminist.

But I will add that the men and women putting up these posters across Canada, as well as the US, England and Australia have my deepest respect, and I know the respect of many others. We will bring to you updates and reports as they happen on these events, as well as the increased number of posters that they will undoubtedly inspire. Hell yeah to all of that. Really well done to the guys putting themselves out there. The bunch of crazies making themselves look bad was a bonus too! Well done indee…

Should really be checked in some way for allowing his own bias to run rampant in his editing approach. As far as misandry goes, it's in the dictionary now, so it's getting pretty diffiult to say the only people using it are men's rights guys. Perhaps dictionaries are anti-feminist now?

Just the typical mentality. Aren't part of the collective in some way? Prepare for suspicious eyes on you. Same as it's always been.

The really fun thing is that many Feminists online seem to think the media is somehow hostile to feminism and is out to get minorities of all kinds, including women. Aside from the sociology departments, the media is the friendliest place out there for Feminists. Almost everything they find offensive is banished from being broadcast and the airwaves are abounding with programmes on women's issues. This is one reason why they have such a problem with the internet. It's the wildwest where, instead…

Well if both men and women are drunk they must be raping each other, either that or the reasoning only applies to man because he has..errm..social power or something. What's that? Logic? We don't get taught that in Gender Studies, thank you.

Yeah, exactly. I can remember reading a Feminist blogpost that explained why women's employment was less hit during the recession. Women are better conditioned to be the slaves that the capitalist wants than men are. So, if women's employment goes down - "omg we need to do something". And if it doesn't - "omg those poor women, trained to be slaves". Yep.

I don't really see the MRM as necessarily right or left aligned either. Many MRAs already point out that both right and left (specifically conservatives and feminists) are in cahoots when it comes to men's issues. Basically men need to man up and shut up, unless they're raising issues on behalf of women and children. To be honest I'm fine with all political stripes and brands being in the MRM, but the only thing I'd be concerned about is image. The MRM has an uphill battle to fight for acceptanc…

Isn't this the exact type of shit that gender equality fights against? Isn't making a statement about what a "real man" or "real women" does or should do going completely against that? Yep. As other people have said, invoking gender norms to push people towards or away from certain behaviours is the opposite of the approach Feminists should be taking, judging by their own logic. However, I don't think it's on same the level as "real men don't cry", since "real men don't rape" is trying to avoid …

Well, she does seem fair minded enough. Last time I went to the video the top comment made more or less the same point I made about gendered insults anyway, so I guess people are already raising these things with her.

I get the impression he just has an irreverent personality, and that's probably what led him to atheism in the first place. Seems to me pious people piss him off, whether it's piety for religion or piety for social justice. Probably MRAs would eventually annoy him too at some point or other.

At about 3 minutes in she says that the gendered insults towards men carry the implication that the man is more like a woman than a real man (pussy, sissy, etc.), and this is the substance of the insult, which implies being a woman is bad, and the worse thing anybody can be. Well, telling women they're more like men (especially if I said "you look like a man") is not usually taken to elevate them - you are denigrating them. Does this imply men are gross or what? Also, I find "neckbeard" can be v…

Almost sounds like somebody should go down for wasting police time. Actually people seem to be getting a lot more fragile in general. I can remember recently the UK papers said the police were asked to look into content on Facebook 14,000 times last year. Seemed like a bit much to me.

It's honestly just idiotic. I should have the right (and I do) to strut and swagger around with a t-shirt with big letters that says "Prize Fighter" on it, but I know I'm gonna attract the wrong attention, especially in some neighborhoods. So, I don't do it. I also don't try to frame the issue in the most petulant and absurd way by arguing that it's entirely the atatcker's fault if I'm attacked. Yes, it is the attacker's fault, and yes, I could have been a lot more careful. There are two faults …

And where was the SPLC when that whole Radfem Hub business was going on? Hmm.. The MRM doesn't like the fact that society seems more comfortable with men dying rather than women, and thinks that martyr worship can only encourage that mindset. Which is entirely true - it can and does encourage exactly that mindset. Guys in the MRM get pissed off to greater or lesser extents, many express themselves reasonably, some don't, and we can be sure that the story of the day for manboobz and the SPLC will…

I've heard this one before. She's basically saying women are socialized by the culture to make certain choices. You can start talking about what's a legitimate motivation for choice, since all choices and all men and women are going to be influenced by culture one way or the other - so if cultural influence delegitimizes choice, none of us have made any genuine choices. There's also the debate over whether it really is culture primarily or other biological urges underlying the choices. Beyond th…

See, every single male can remember the first time, when he was 5 or 6 years old, he showed his penis to a stranger and everybody started freaking the hell out. He can remember the first time he got in trouble for hitting somebody, for peeing in public, for trying to jump off some high object or set something on fire. What the fuck is this guy on?!

Yeah, I'm not sure why you'd get so offended at a rape joke and yet not offended by this. To me it's just another example of Feminism in practice as opposed to in theory. Rape is like one of the totems - making jokes about it is like shitting on the shrine, and you get all the due outrage. Killing men and chopping dicks off and stuff just doesn't provoke the same level of mass revulsion.

Yeah, but men are still heavily incentivized to conform to gender roles. If you do, and you're a decent enough guy, you get a broad appeal to most women, if you don't you get a far narrower appeal. It's true you can go against it if you like, but if I did that I would be pretty much expecting to hamstring myself on the dating market. On the other hand, usually all women have to do to spark interest is be beautiful.

Yeah, I find this is a big discrepancy. Men, frankly, usually don't care half as much about household aesthetics as women do. In my experience men would do what generally needs to be done, and not a whole lot more. A lot of women can kind of expereince this as a guy not doing as much as her, and therefore not doing his "fair share".

Really good post. I've always found that one of the problems in opposing Feminism is basically the way Feminism sells itself - it says it's for gender equality, and how could you be against equality between the genders? Problem is you have to kind of carefully explain why Feminism is one thing in theory and another thing in practice. It's actually a more complex case to make than the one a Feminist has to make, since they can just say they're for gender equality and ride on the general good vibe…

Yeah, although of course there are disadvantages and advantages to being a man or a woman, but I think the net-effect favours women. men don't perform well in many demographic measurements, aside from economic earnings, and even that's slipping. If you're a non-incarcerated guy you're pretty much more likely to suffer from almost everything, except sexual violence and harassment. You're more likely to suffer from every other kind of violence, or to be dysfunctional and inflict violence and go to…

Presumption of paedophilia is certainly something men have to suffer a lot more. For me, though, the big one is the culture of male disposability. There's something really reptilian about how unconcerned society is about the rates at which men die of suicide, disease, violence etc. - all of them far greater rates than those of women, whose every disadvantage is treated like some great evil.

Seems like the misandry definition is a bit farcical. The highest voted definition is exactly the same as the definitions further down, that are heavily voted against. What sense does it make to have the top definition be identical to definitions that are heavily voted down? Also, the Allan Johnson paragraph is the actual substance of the definition. Misandry the actual word gets a single line in the definition, the rest of the definiton's content is social theory from Allan Johnson, more a left…
