Thank you! I actually just picked up drawing again too. I'm halfway through a beginning art and composition class, as well as a modern dance class (I love dancing, but have a huge amount of room to improve). This has really helped, but not as much as I'd like. I'm really enjoying rebuilding hobbies.

I don't think that's a thing. Unless his clinic has unreasonably loose HIPAA compliance. Edit: and again, it's possible he's already been on antibiotics and knew about this ages ago (when he infected you).

Oh yes, you're 100% right. The guy sounds like the "I'm completely honest and never tell a lie" type of narcissist. I know them all too well.

It's unlikely that he'd be negative unless he already knew about it and started antibiotics. However, probably he's lying to her. He won't even let her see the results. He might not have even gotten tested at all.

You're so completely right that it's painful. I've built a rock-solid wall around myself, and have no idea how to dismantle it. I don't even know how to weaken it. If I could just chip away a tiny little piece of it every day, I know that I'd be happier in the long run. Do you have any advice on how to be vulnerable? My problem here is that I've grown up with (and am still around) a family that really discouraged vulnerability. Any vulnerability or feelings that I displayed were immediately crus…

Hello there, nurse checking in. If you've been 100% physically faithful, and it's one of the common ones as you said (chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, etc), then he cheated on you. Without a doubt. Also, false-positive results rates are ridiculously low. And most all false-positives come from people who has true positives earlier on, and very recently had the STD treated. All this plus his behavior and his opportunities to cheat, you know the answer. Very sorry ):

I don't mean to be difficult by any means, but in all honesty, I don't know how to forgive. Depending on the transgression and how it made me feel, and whether or not it was intentional. I've given up several friendships and even some family over this. I feel like I only have a certain amount of forgiveness for each person, and when it runs out I just shut off. How do you forgive and forget?

r/narcissisticabuse Take a gander at the top few posts. You'll probably find it very relatable and validating.

Tough one. I dated a guy in a similar situation. It was an awful ride. He still had feelings (but hid it well for a great while), financial connection and obligation was frequently troublesome, and he wasn't pursuing a divorce- similarly just separated and left it at that. And a lot of little things just made it sad and weird for me. When he would apply for anything they'd always ask if he was married, and he'd say yes and give his wife's name, birth date, etc. Then they'd address me as his wife…

I understand your point, but everyone has too be on-board with a big change in the relationship like this. And based on the fact that this post is here, I have the feeling that OP is not on-board.

I hate to admit it, but you're spot on--and I didn't fully realize that this was how I felt until I heard the words. I really cannot even imagine dating a man who is kind to me or adds any sort of joy to my life. It seems like a fantasy. The men I've allowed into my life have been so low quality, and now that's all I expect out of any man. Back too therapy I go, I guess!

Yes thank you. I do want to be very particular about who I date and not just date anyone and everyone. I've thought the same thing about the anxiety. The guy actually seemed really nice. He was a grade school teacher, active in the church. He respected my boundaries very well for a couple months leading to the dates and was very sweet about it, I thought. Then had two awesome dates. Then on the third date he opened up to me a little too much. He told me a story about how he put his ex girlfriend…

You might be right. Therapy was what helped me gain enough perspective and strength to break away in the first place. My last appointment was about two* months ago. I'm not in a huge hurry to start a LTR yet, but I wanted to dip my toes into the dating pool again. I want to work on vetting and* just relearn my dating etiquette

Performance: 2/10. Not very provoking. Execution: 5/10 because I liked that it rhymed.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
