I don't actually, because I think one of the ideas that comes along with porn (or any type of role play in the bedroom) is that it's not real and the people involved don't really think or feel that way. For example, you have a couple who engage in a power play scene. At the end of the day neither person actually believes that something like that happening in real life would be okay.

Firstly, I find your user name wonderfully ironic given how bigoted you just sounded. Secondly, did you have to be so rude? My comment was calm, non-aggressive, and pointed out that we don't hate all men, or even most men. Your comment cussed and name called. You don't even know me. I'm pretty sure you just hate all feminists on principle. I'm not a bigot, I'm so far from it I can't even see it. I fully believe in equality for everyone regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, social …

I completely agree with you about the definition of rape. I think we're differing in our definition of "rape culture" however. I'm saying rape culture is more than just the act of rape. It's anything that promotes or condones (implicitly or explicitly) rape or sexual harassment against a person.

What makes the joke part of rape culture is the implication that rape is something funny and trivial.

It does not exist mainly in my head. It exists every day. False rape accusations are awful, yes I agree, but that does not lessen the fact that rape culture exists. Rape culture is not just when a person commits rape; it is every time someone (note the lack of gender specific pronouns! Women can take part in rape culture too!) victim blames or slut shames or makes a rape joke and people allow it to happen.

Rape culture is more than just committing rape. Rape culture is anything that condones rape or sexual harassment explicitly or implicitly. This includes sexually objectifying people. It does not matter where the comments or jokes come from -other women or social conservatives- all of that is rape culture. Rape culture includes male survivors too. It's not just about women, it's just that it is more commonly directed towards women. It is sad that male survivors of rape have so few options availab…

Really? Really? Have you ever see a man cat call a woman or make crude gestures at her? Have you ever heard someone say "if only she hadn't worn that skirt he wouldn't have raped her."? Have you ever heard someone dismiss a woman's irritation at a rape joke as "come on its just a joke. Get over it already."? All three of those are examples of rape culture and all three of those are things I have personally observed. Rape culture is alive and well my friend.

No, not at the expense of men. Wanting to be able to walk down the street alone at night without constantly worrying about being raped does not restrict men's rights. Wanting to be paid an equal salary for an equal amount of work compared to men does not restrict men's rights. Most feminists are not psychos who hate all men; just like most men on MR are not psychos who hate all women/feminists.

Women can't make crass generalizations about men belonging to a single group, but men can make them about women? Really? How about no one makes generalizations about anyone? Also, men do have privilege over women in some aspects of society, not all but some. You are much less likely to be cat called or assaulted as you walk down the street compared to a woman. The feminist movement is not about hating men; it is about supporting women and equality.

Please don't be silly. Feminists do not believe that every man is out there every day with the single goal of oppressing women. There are some men with serious issues when it comes to women, but most are not like that. We know this.

I get what you mean with your math, but I'm gonna have to argue. Every woman that dies, that's 1 + 0-5 kids. Every man that dies is 1 +0-5 kids also. Plus, even though I know it's not really what you meant, I resent the implication that my value to society rest solely on my ability to produce children. For the second part of your post, that is what many women in the armed forces already do. In fact there has been a push in the last decade or so to allow women on the front lines where the actual …

Women have privileges just like men do. In the end all they really do is reinforces stereotypes and hinder the feminist movement. We're willing to give some privileges up if you are.* Disclaimer: I can't actually speak for all feminists, but I can tell you a significant number agree with me.

Just like you can't speak for every man (I'm assuming you're male here) I can't claim to represent every feminist. In my opinion feminism isn't just about gaining equal rights for women, but for everyone. Having said that, feminists who argue against including women in the draft are people who want all the rights men have without giving up any of the privileges we have. If we want equality we have to aim for true equality- the good and the bad.

Both issues are important, but the idea behind the slutwalks impacts more women's lives than service in the armed forces ever will. Plus in recent years a lot of gains have been made for women in the armed forces. It's really just the army who hasn't caught up yet. Both the navy and the air force allow women on their versions of the front lines.

I'm just want to point out that a lot of women, including women already in the armed forces, are upset that women are not allowed to really be in frontline roles (especially in the army).

I'm just gonna toss out that as a woman and a feminist, only men having to register for selective service pisses me off too. If the draft is going to exist, it should exist for everyone regardless of gender.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
