I've been to some men's rooms where the toilet didn't even have a seat. On the topic of toilets, I wish the hand bidet thing (it's like a hose sprayer that some sinks have) was more common in the west.

I think them doing this, and the rising popularity of trans acceptance, might be the driving force to finally move on and just have one large bathroom for everyone. It ought to be cheaper for the business to do too. I imagine something sort of like those airport bathrooms, where the sinks, urinals, and stalls are all separated in 2 or 3 skinny "rooms". A divider or something gives privacy for the wall of urinals, stalls have walls and doors, then everyone uses the same sinks.

Even the local little league teams. Girls can join the baseball team, but boys can't join the softball team. And it's been that way my entire life. Nowadays there aren't any local baseball leagues, only softball. I drive past the fields daily, and I see girls playing softball, but it's been probably a decade since I've seen boys playing baseball.

Anything I want. Neither conservatives nor feminists would ever count me as a "real man", so I stopped trying.

Kinda messed up that the libertarian answer is made out to look like paying men and women differently based on sex alone is okay. It's out of place when grouped among moral options for answers.

It's a good point. The most famous MRAs are all women (honey badger brigade), and the intactivist stuff on Twitter is almost entirely mothers. They actually print out pamphlets and table events! Or slip them into products in the maternity section of the store. We're still at that point where nobody wants to listen to a man discuss gender or child issues. People would view it like a white person in charge of NAACP.

They talk about and stereotype men the way racists talk about and stereotype black people, and somehow we're the sexists? It's messed up.
/r/MensRights16/06/15 03:27 PM

Yeah, that whole thing taught me that when they say "feminism is for men too", what they meant was "men are welcome to exclusively talk about female issues".

"… but you can push someone so far and everybody will break." It's sad that some men may feel the need to resort to doing horrible things like this, yet understandable. Take away a man's meaning to life and he has nothing left to lose. I hope the MRM starts making progress to establish that fathers do indeed have a right to be fathers.

My longest relationship was with a 5'10" women, a few inches taller than me. I was insecure about it at first, not because I wasn't attracted to her, but because I feared she wouldn't be attracted to me. Then I got a second date. And a third... it was great. I felt accepted and stopped worrying about my height, at least with her. The only time height ever really became an issue was when we tried doggy style; I felt like a pug trying bang a rottweiler. My highest matches on OkCupid are usually ta…

I was thinking about poly people recently when I come across their profiles on OkCupid. It's totally not for me, but I respect them because at least they're honest about it. I hate how OKC added a new setting so you can choose "mostly monogamous". You either are, or you aren't. I know people don't like black and white absolutes, but this one absolutely is. If you're dating multiple people, you're not monogamous. If you're doing it without their knowledge, you're an even worse investment than dat…

When I was about the same age, 9-12, multiple people, adults even, kept assuming I would turn out gay. Just because a boy is small, shy, non-athletic, and so on, doesn't mean he's gay. It looks like you were right, but it still seems risky in my opinion. At that age I was still too shy to admit I found girls attractive. "Do you have a crush on Jenny?" ... "No... (blush/look at ground)". If anything, I think at that age, adults shouldn't push kids one way or the other. They thought they were help…

It always frustrates with me when they retort that maybe between 2 and 8 percent are false accusations, as an excuse to discount and downplay it. Even if those were the numbers, that's still high enough to care. I think the numbers are higher, because they count any case where the accuser wasn't charged for filing false info as a case where the accused did rape. So even if the accused rapist isn't convicted, he's counted as a rapist who got away with it. I'd wager it's even more difficult to get…

Seems like all the men's advocate groups are popping up in Canada. I think even that international conference was held there last year. Maybe it's because the bigoted type of feminism is worse up there too? Therefore, men are less reserved about pushing back?

Because patriarchy. Also, feminism == equality. Or something. All I know is I learned all about women's issues in grade school Social Studies and every year during women's history month, but I have never, not once, heard any male issues or statistics in my public schooling in the 80's/90's. I didn't even know I was circumcised until my mid 20's when I found what it's supposed to look like on the internet; I thought the scar band was normal. But I heard all about FGM. About the closest to a men's…

There are aggressive comments on this sub, but they're usually pretty justified too. A feminist would respond the same way if women/girls issues were downplayed like ours, and rightfully so. Just today I saw an article on worldnews where both gay males and lesbian females were forced to have sex (to make them straight...), but it was only the females were considered to have been raped. Just double standards like that everywhere you look, both in society and government, to include legal definitio…

They just call it kidnapping when a father does it. Amber alert and such.

Reminds me of how people differentiate between black people and, well, the n-word. Like "Wayne Brady is one of the good ones". They don't even see themselves as racist.
/r/MensRights02/06/15 05:32 PM

Reminds me of the race protests/riots from recent police shootings. Surely they could find a better martyr than someone who robbed a store and attacked a cop over the span of a few minutes to trigger race discussion.
/r/MensRights02/06/15 05:24 PM

It kind of has to be mandatory, because then a father who takes the leave will lose favor over the father who doesn't. One of the big benefits of paternity leave was to make men just as risky as women to hire, eliminating bias about hiring women that might get pregnant. It's an issue both MRAs and Feminists should be easily in agreement of.

Probably because there are more male CEOs. There's certainly more male billionaires. The wage gap was only ever about totals, not about important details that might explain the whys and hows.

I think it's probably fruitless. I've seen things in my obscure politics, where the libertarians ignore the Libertarian Party because they think they have a shot of taking over the Republican Party and making it more libertarian. Pshh...
/r/MensRights31/05/15 08:56 PM

It baffles me how often people think the wage gap accounts for the same position and hours. It doesn't. And now I think that's intentional.

I think what bugs me the most is that PUA stuff actually works. There's truth to the controversial stuff they advise. I often read dating profiles where they complain about guys being crass, but I know first hand that being respectful, curious, and non-objectifying doesn't work. At all. It's been years since I've even kissed a woman. I do what I was told is the gentleman thing on dates (which I'm lucky to get 2 or 3 times a year), such as taking them to the museum or a coffee shop, only to never…

I guess I can see some value in it, as they seem to be really into self-improvement and making the best of the realities we live in. As a "beta", I know I could improve in a number of ways psychologically to be more liked and attractive. I think most people just have problems with how tactless they can be. That's the stuff that gives them the bad reputation. Even if there's truth in the message, it kinda gets overshadowed when you refer to women in a derogatory or utilitarian way. I haven't real…
