Yeah it probably should. Or an investigation into the actual father should take place and make him responsible. But unfortunately that's not how laws and jurisprudence built on those laws are set up currently. The court tries to do the least harm within the current framework built. That doesn't mean a better one can't be built but for now we're stuck with the one we have and unfortunately someone has to lose in it

Because the well being of the children is the court's first priority, not the well being of the adults. As it should be. So many people don't realize this I think. Child support payments can trap men with financial and other burdens but the court is attempting to do the least harm. It can suck in some edge cases but in most cases (even the edge cases) the welfare of an innocent child trumps most other concerns. Again as it should

Don't know UK law but I imagine its similar to US law. In general verbal contracts (In the US) are enforceable but tend to be very hard to prove (being verbal agreements)

There's a bunch of different kinds of doctors so without any more context than the photo she could be something other than a medical doctor that's less time consuming to acquire. Or just look really young. Or be making it up. The possibilities are endless without any more context.
