Am I dumb to assume that people sometimes finance their divorces? I can’t imagine so many people having so much cash in hand. Thanks for the info!

Good idea. I think she might be able to afford it. I am redoing our household budget to create some room for me to rent or buy something, eventually. My time line is pretty open so I feel as long as I am taking small steps continually I can keep riding it out.

I did a consultation and based on where I live was advised to get an agreement regarding future parenting time before moving out. I am not organized financially enough to pull that trigger yet. I am also genuinely hoping she can keep the house as she will have to have most the overnights with the kids. I, unfortunately, commute to work very early each morning and have a harder time leaving work when kids get sick, etc. Don’t get me wrong. I want to be very involved with my kids including helping…

I do think she’s being genuine, but she can’t sustain hoping to be better as a strategy. To me this is reflecting on so much wasted time and if I owe it to her to try and have it fail. I feel like it’s too little too late and only happening because a divorce could really happen now.
