BUT, men get about 70% of the sentences for the crime, where women only amount to 30% of the sentences. In this study of crime carried out by women in the UK, it starts out saying men and women have about the same amount of shoplifting arrests, but under 30% of the convictions are against women, with the remaining 70%+ convictions going to men. It’s just for landlords posting ads. Roommates posting a preference for gender isn’t. Usually it’s stated that anyone already occupying a home has a right to decide who enters it & lives there as long as they’re abiding by federal housing laws.

It’s federally illegal for a landlord to bias against sex while advertising for a room. However, it is federally legal for a roommate to state a preference like gender on an ad. It sucks ass, but tbh I do it as well on my ads. I prefer to live with male roommates because women are pretty messy and in my experience have had the most issues paying their half of the bills.

I’d say the chances of men and women being homeless are about even. The issue being the resources used to help homeless women works, which drastically lowers their numbers.
