Well, you don't need to be in romantic relationships to see their true colours, you just need to be in close proximity to them and observe the patterns. On a superficial level, they can seem normal, but upon closer inspection they reveal themselves (lack of close friendships, trauma dumping, substance abuse, too much tattoos or piercings, long periods of unemployment, mental issues which surface up, belief in conspiracy theories, mirroring their surroundings and projecting themselves onto others…

Most relationships involving pwBPD don't last very long, as the pwBPD partner eventually devalues and discards the non-BPD partner. Yeah, some do last decades even, but those are dysfunctional relationships full of drama and chaos. I know plenty of pwBPD, both online and in-real life, so I know how it's like.
