Italy seems a delightful country to live in. But I don't see a reason for US nationality to be an advantage with women. Except exotism, maybe ?

Soon it would be 6 years we are together with my partner. We have a civil union more or less like marriage but "lighter", which exists in our country. Since we plan to have children in the year, we think about marriage more and more, because it would protect the family better. The dynamic is egalitarian, we take decision together, we operate as a team, we compromise when necessary. Or relationship is entirely based on a very sincere communication, which allows trust, space for each of us, secure…

Yes, there are different experiences of sex, good, bad, loving, wild, disgusting, tender, hurtfull... You can experience these differences from your own perception, and you could observe them with the proper équipement. It changes what sex is, because it changes the word you'll use to name your experience, and so the signification you'll give to it. This have tangible conséquences : the sex we call rape let people with mental diseases, the one we call loving can determine thé choice of a partner…

You want tangible reality ? Émotions are chemical. Love, Affection, attachement, pleasure, orgasm.. all are effects of the functionning of the brain. It's well known, documented, mesured, observed everyday. What people report here is the experience of it, at a clinical level or if you prefer, from the mind perspective. Nothing's more real.

It is the first time I hear that, how weird and funny ! I don't think so, most of people I know are just... borring regular couples. What is it about open marriages in France ?? What is true is that marriage is probably not as valued as if is elsewhere in the world. And that we have a different conception of the "morality" of sexuality. Nobody cares about virginity anymore, or n-count, or living together without marrying... That's very common and really not an issue. The law evolued to assure an…

Yes ! I believe our neighbours countries and EU in general also provide the same kind of social security. There is a cultural component playing too. Depending on what country you live in, you're not supposed to behave the same way as a mother. It necessarily influences the options and the choices of women about motherhood.

I believe another -middle- way is existing for any country considering fertility matter as a state one : to give support to women in order to let them keep their jobs and even compensate the effects of childbirth over their careers. In my country, we always have had good scores of fertility in Western Europe, and that's because of the health care and child care the state provides for vitually free, or very cheap. It's encouraging for couples, especially for women, to know that there are easy sol…

That's the point : happy, lasting, healthy relationships are not the ones built only on attraction. Attraction is important, but you need to share infinitely more to live with someone for decades, keep looking in the same direction and endure what life is. Attraction become a smaller preoccupation as years pass. Even for those who manage to keep it strong. What matters to last is the partnership.

How would you know what I have and don't have ? I studied hard, I work a lot, I love my job. And I love to have an interesting, smart, educated partner to discuss about many things and make plans for future. He and I bought the house together. It's a shared mortgage. He doesn't "spoil" me. I don't expect to be bought lol.

To fall in love with the kind, loving man who never let you doubt a second about his loyalty is not settling. It's actually the best experience you can have. You just forget about your previous partners. You realize how wiser and mature you have become since dating years. And yes, the husband who knows you, your tastes and your body for several years is more likely to be your best lover lol. He is the one who has the best chances.

Because when you have a career, some money, some status, and when you are passionate about what you do, you want a partner who share the same goals, values and standards. To be financially independant doesn't mean you want to be the only provider of the family. In most couples, both parts do their part.

I deeply disagree with OP. I'm French, maybe attractiveness is different here, but not to that extreme. The man OP describes as the "attractive one" has never been the one I was attracted to. I'm crazy about my soft and agreeable man, who never imposes anything to me. What is written here i's insulting for both men and women. Men must personify an idiot stereotype to get a chance to have value ? and women are superficial monsters demanding and judging men over their performance ? So men worth no…

Men are not all alike. So it depends. I'd say the most confident and at ease with themselves don't care, as they don't need to constantely proove their masculinity to themselves (and to the world). Fragile ones must stick to their strict gender role to prevent existential anxiety.

What a question... Most mornings of the week, when I take the train riding me to work and my mind is just floating, I find myself remembering about the sex I had with my partner for the last time (the last evening or the day before). The memory of him giving me pleasure get me aroused. From time to time I send him a hot and loving message, to let him know how I feel. He enjoys it. This should answer to your question about women's sexuality : we have one. We have drives and fantasies and urges. T…

I don't care. I'm not jealous of women who are not even parts of his life anymore. It sounds totally dumb to sleep with as many women as possible to boost his number. Ok, you have a big number... and what ? My guess is you didn't learn nothing real about sexuality. But if he was dumb in his 20's and needed to proove something, again, I don't care.

I didn't say ugly, I don't think the term fits with my description. Do you ? I had in mind a non superficial guy. Nerdy yes, if you want. Someone who has interesting things to tell. Someone I laugh with. So many of you here are obsessed about looks, it's crazy. You sound like you don't even know you need to be an interesting person, and have the will to bond with someone, for a relationship to happen.

But there's a difference between self humilation and self derision. The first can be awkward when it actually demonstrates how insecure one feels. It's not a dealbreaker, I mean, insecurities are just human. The second is what you described earlier when you talked about people aware of their defaults, and laughing at them. It's a sign of self awareness, and it's pretty desirable to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/12/21 05:13 PM

Am I wrong, or do you assume women could be unable to appreciate humour ? Or that they should maybe be so obsessed with some alpha bs behaviour, that they couldn't stand a men laughing of himself ? I'm not a native english speaker, I hope I'm wrong lol But if I'm not, please tell me why you believe that ?

It's about consciously try to be a better match, or closer to what you believe he's expecting, than the other women. It's my maximum level of competition lol. To be a better student allowed me to spend more time with guy 2, to have a more personal relationship with him, to be teached a little more than the other.. and that was some sort of privilege at that time

I can think of at least 2 situations where I was part of a competition with other girls for one guy. First, when I was 16/17. We were a group of boys and girls friends. Among us was this unbelievable guy who treated each girls as if she was special to him. He showed carefull attentions, offered thoughtfull gifts, behaved like he was trying to create a romantic connexion... except each of us, one by one, were the choosen one lol. The look and energy of an "intellectual type" guy. Thin and not muscular. Casual clothes. A beard. Not caring a lot about his looks, because he has better to do and think about. He needs to love reading, be into academic knowledge, and willing to share his enthousiasm for these interests of him. He needs to be curious about mine too. If he works and writes on something he's even sexier. Not too confident with women, but aware of his self-worth as a valuable person. Not arrogant. Genuinely enjoyi…

No we don't "settle". In a decade or so, most people just change. From 17/18 yo when you're a teenager, to 30 when you find yourself being an adult, you just have processed new interets, new goals in life and directions. I have slept around a lot in my early 20's. I was single after a 5 years long relationship which had ended awfully. I needed to move on, and make diversion for my sadness. It worked wonderfully. I had fun. I grew some new sense of my attractiveness and rebuilt a feeling of the s…

I don't even know what you're talking about. I've never met these situations you describe. I don't think or behave like that. I know no one who does. If you value the pleasure from a random gift like a vacation more than the comfort, boundaries, and well being of your partner, then you are just using him selfishly. This is not what a relationship is, and you're probably not the GF he expects. Yes, of course you're right Captain Obvious. To require random gifts and vacations from your partner, …

" But what if you wanted those things" Here's the mistake. In a loving and healthy relationship, you don't stay with someone for the things you can have FROM him or her. You stay for the things you both create together. If you value your pleasure from a random sex act more than the comfort, boundaries and well being of your partner, then you are just using her selfishly. This is not what a relationship is, and you're probably not the BF she expects. So maybe you're right, maybe her lack of desir…

I do discuss these with them. You're pretty right about illness being a tentative to cope with suffering, anxiety, trauma, or feelings of inadequency. But collecting evidences would require a lot more than few observations from one person. It's relatively safe to say that people who need rigid rationalisations like RP theories, as unilateral explanations for otherwise complex and nuances phenomenons (human behaviour, love, desire), probably try to put some simple sense on something they struggle…

I know some who do. That's why I came here and am currently reading about it and trying to learn something useful. I've found myself fascinated in horror by what I discovered lol. These two, despite the fact they have hurt women in the past, are extremely crushed souls, most sensitive and vulnerable. I think RP theory offers some keys to figure and comprehend relations between people, especially women.

I don't think I know any relative who would. RP doctrine is totally alien for my social circle. An odd hybride between 50 years old opinions nobody I know take seriously anymore (not even my great parents), and a speech of hate against women. Mysogyny is not attractive. All of this sounds controlling, toxic, very scary. The only women I know who date men with that sorts of views are vulnerable ones I meet at work, in a mental health facility.

I'd say : if it's an effort to keep him, or a constant risk he leaves me, yeah I don't bother to try. Because if I'm feeling that way, it means he wasn't able to inspire me trust. What joke of a relationship would we have without it ? There's just no point

Most people, men and women, aknowledge attractive people around them, at least from time to time. To my opinion, this isn't a threat to loyalty in a couple, not even something potentilly hurting... I believe that's true as long as one gives no space in its mind - at all - to these feelings of attraction. Many men and women do it easily, just because they value their partner and take good care of the relationship.

Guy 2 not being competent or motivated enough to get a job he likes is worrying, but I'd choose him if I had to, because Guy 1 is the kind of person I don't like to be around at all. We'd have nothing to share. I could imagine myself with Guy 2 if we had hobbies in common, things to talk about together.

I can't speak for the men here, but my husband put efforts to find us intimate jazz concerts in improbable places when we were dating. Unknown but talented musicians, free or cheap ticket, and music we happened to both love. We spent delightful evening each times. He keeps planning special dates for us, always very fun ans original. I'm INFP, he's INTP. Dynamic looks like having afternoons long debates over any subject interesting at the moment. Me initiating plans with great enthousiasm, and being thrilled when he joints his efficient and organised mind to it. A discovered preference would be about musicians, or at least music lover men. My 3 LTR, included the current one, have been with such men. What I mean here is extended musical culture, daily hobby to listen and play, preference for concerts and live music over other types of night outs. I play and listen a lot of music, I need to share it with my partner. I don't know how we could have fun together otherwise. So that's pretty important to me.

This phenomenon is called homogamy and is what actual sociology describes as the most efficient determination to choose a partner. Same social class = close economical capital, cultural capital, socialization, values... That's how people feel they belong to the same world. A doctor have better chances to marry an other doctor, than a nurse or his secretary. Same for a entrepreneur or an engineer. Or even a worker in the fields. That's because people expect their partner to have the same level of…

Of course. I meant the poetry of it, the way it would feel different, more moving maybe ? It's how I idealize it, as I'm currently waiting for an appointement to remove a IUD. Seems like every sex would be a possible changing of our whole life. The idea itself, what we share at that moment, the way it gives another dimension to your lover's orgasm.. I don't know, I find it terribly beautiful. But I'm a dreamer haha 😅

With my companion, we tried condoms, pill, and a IUD (for few years now). None of them are perfect. You may just choose the inconvenience you bother the less. Condoms can be annoying, pill have many possible side effects (some are serious), IUD is a (very) painful intervention and is not supported by all women. We never considered a permanent solution, simply because we both want children. I can't imagine to ask somebody to let go of his or her fertility. This have to be a very personal decision…

You don't commit to a LTR by rational choice or by "operative" behaviour, just to fit the social norm. It is not enough if you don't feel the inside urge, the desire in your gut to do so. Sometimes it is the future you wish for yourself, sometimes you start to think about it when you meet someone in particular you feel you want more with. We can't guess what happens with her from the few she wrote. But she doesn't mention any kind of attachement with the men she had met. That could be a clue of …

Totally agree. I have never understood this stereotype about women being less sexual than men. It has always been pretty evident to me, and to my friends, that we wanted more sex, more often, than our boyfriends or husbands. Was true at 20, stills true at 30. A simple biological fact : once there're done, it's over for them. We could enthousiatically continue, and with a generous and loving partner, we do ! We have huge sex drives too. Thanks for your answer :) I think that matters are very personal. The symbolic weight someone gives to a thing or an other... subjective. Nothing to argue about. I'm not very into big promesses, or oaths. Everybody can swear, and break its word later. Also, to keep loving someone for a lifetime is a promess impossible to give. Nobody knows... So yeah, I trust what I see, what I live everyday. The way someone positively makes all efforts to give love, support, and a joyful life. The way he never …

Hey, You make a point : marriage is definitly not a bigger commitment, except in situations (cultures, religions) where it can't be broken by divorce, maybe ? Once that being said, I can tell that I would, and probably will soon, have a child with someone I'm not married to. The risks it represents depends on the context, and the social policy of the country you live in. From where I write, concubine couples have the same privileges and obligations to the children, in case of separation, than ma…

Sorry for my question, for I know it's totally opposite to the subject of the post. It is a candid question I ask myself since I follow FDS : What's so important about marriage ? It doesn't seem an issue at all from where I live and write to you all. Among my friends and relatives, I must have only one married couple. Other are concubine or contracted an other sort of union existing in my country, but really, nobody care. Marriage has always been a legal way to own a woman, and to bond her to th…

I totally agree with you. It seems more and more absurd to keep trying to be a "pretty doll", a sexual object to be looked at. I don't anymore, and have never felt so free and peaceful. I feel considered, and listenned for what I say, as a person. An other thing : as long as mariage is a financial transaction bonding women to men's money, we are and still be objects to sell.
